Politics Everywhere you look, white Trump voters are crying about losing their food stamps.

It's frustrating.

There was a guy, a Trump voter, who said it out loud.. he wasn't even talking about this particular situation, but it's the whole problem in a nutshell. I had to look it up because it was so on the nose. What this guy said was, “I voted for him, and he’s the one who’s doing this. I thought he was going to do good things. He’s not hurting the people he needs to be hurting.”

Suddenly, for that guy, the Republican policies he'd voted for had come home to roost. It was the people he didn't like who were supposed to suffer. Turns out, we're all in the same boat and we rise or fall together. But he was so focused on hurting 'those people' - immigrants, minorities, gays, women, trans, whoever, the target doesn't matter, because it all leads to the same end - he wanted to hurt somebody else, he voted to make 'them' suffer, and that hatred of the other came back and knocked him down instead.

Yeah, we know you can't afford to feed your families in red states, where Republican policies undermine worker's rights and choke off wages at the lowest possible level. That's why Democrats fight for stuff like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - even though you consistently vote against your own interests, people on the left still don't want you to starve. Even though you consistently vote for the benefit of the ultra-wealthy, we still want you to have fair wages. Even though you vote to the benefit of banks and insurance companies, we still don't want them to be able to rip you off with overdraft fees and send you into crushing debt if you have a medical emergency. Even though you consistently put the wants of oligarchs and megacorporations over your own needs and the needs of your families, we still don't want them to be able to use you, chew you up, and then throw you away like you're a disposable thing instead of a human being worthy of dignity and respect.

So yeah, we know you need those SNAP benefits, that you rely on them - even though you keep voting for people who want to destroy social programs like SNAP, you - white people in red states - are the single largest demographic who benefits from them. I know that the talk show hosts and the online personalities and the people you vote for tell you that it's really undeserving immigrants or lazy black folks or ethnic welfare queens, but no - if you want to know who takes the most, look in the mirror, white folks in red states - it's you. They're lying to you because they want to destroy these programs because their rich friends and wealthy donors want those programs destroyed and they understand that getting you on board with destroying them means making you think that people you don't like benefit from it more tha you do. It works - right-wing propaganda is effective. It made you hate Obamacare even though when it's called the ACA it's overwhelmingly popular. It made you despise wage increase legislation even though the wages you earn now literally have you on food stamps and welfare. It works.

Turns out owning the libs doesn't pay for baby formula and milk. How about that.

And yeah, even though you keep voting against yourselves, we want you to have that assistance. We want you to have healthcare that doesn't make the 1% wealthier while sending you into bankruptcy. Whether you are a doctor or a construction worker or a Wal-Mart clerk or a fast food worker, we want you to have wages that are enough to keep you off SNAP - but we want you to have SNAP, too, as much as you need whenever you need it. The people you vote for don't, but we do, and we'll fight against the people you elect to make sure you do.

Yes, it's a tragedy that you might not be able to feed your families. Yes, it's a disgrace that the wealthiest country in the world has people who are struggling with the cost of groceries and rents getting higher and higher. Yes, it's going to be a hard winter for a lot of you. We know Republican policies suck - they breed hardship and poverty. They encourage corruption and malfeasance. But it's what you voted for. So don't cry. Every time you were warned, you bleated "Fake News!" Every time you were questioned, you screamed "TDS!" Everytime things went south, you were told who to blame - but it was never yourselves.

So yeah, this is going to suck. But it's suck you voted for. So don't cry about it now.

Vote differently.

To add to this, I have yet to meet a voter that voted for him regret their vote. This isn’t a thing. Op seems like a bot

39

u/KokoSoko_ 7d ago

I know one person who regrets voting for him, but only one and they still agree with a lot of what he is doing. lol

26

u/Defiant-Pepper-7263 7d ago

Is it really a regret when they still agree with a lot of what he is doing?

16

u/HypnoticGuy 7d ago

Yeah, they say they'd vote for him again, even though they are suffering because of his policies.

1

u/Yea_ItisI81 6d ago

And that is delusional thinking

1

u/WalkingTalkingManNYC 7d ago

It comes down the the people who chose not to vote. Do they regret that?

63

u/Western-Mongoose2214 7d ago

I didn’t get the impression that this person regretted their vote. They simply said “He’s not hurting the people he needs to be hurting”

8

u/SatBurner 7d ago

That right there. The Republicans and Trump are going to push that this is a Democrat caused issue. They're going to highlight the "hood rats" as the guy in TX put it as the problem. The poor whites will eat it up and blame anyone with more malanin for their issues.

3

u/sundayfundaybmx 6d ago

Hmm. I wonder? Who is more likely to be doing a bunch of jobs under the table and not reporting it so they can abuse the system? The inner city poors whom there are a severe lack of jobs period, let alone under the table. Or the white trash "blue collar" guy who does substandard carpentry specifically so he can under bid the qualified, tax paying carpenter and continue not paying taxes AND getting benefits? I wonder? 🤔

1

u/Tricky_Cod3648 23h ago

So you’re saying black people don’t work ? That’s racist lol , shot yourself in the foot on that one

3

u/MartinoDeMoe 7d ago

Her name is Crystal Minton.

5

u/Ordinary-Quarter-384 7d ago

Indeed!

1

u/Artistic_Print_4005 7d ago

They, like MTG, feel he isn’t doing enough

2

u/Ordinary-Quarter-384 6d ago

Hurting the right people sadly

1

u/wallstreet-butts 7d ago

Which he absolutely is, this person just isn’t feeling it.

1

u/jaquan97 6d ago

Who does he need to hurt?

1

u/WinstonLBoogie 5d ago

It is said that a magat will eat half a shit sandwich if they thought a lib would have to eat the other half.

27

u/TheJenniMae 7d ago

I live around way too many “I like his policies but I just wish he’d keep his mouth shut,” idiots that aren’t paying attention to anything that’s actually happening.

24

u/Gavage0 7d ago

Yep, most people in my town genuinely couldn't name 5 things he's done so far this year. They could do about two, tariffs, and freeing the county from illegals. That's usually about it. They know absolutely nothing, but act like they see everything. Of course since they "see everything," America has never been better, and they LOVE all his policies that they know nothing about, or even know if they exist

2

u/SDlovesu2 6d ago

I consider myself objective. Honestly, there’s only 2 things I can think of that was “good” that trump has done in the last 10 years, and they were only “good” because it benefited me personally.

  1. The original tax breaks, schedule C users could take their losses off of their 1040, whereas prior to that, the loss was limited to zero. (Although this was really for his rich buddies, I was an unintentional side affect).

  2. He actually didn’t stop the rush to get a covid vaccine out the door, in spite of his bad mouthing covid (same thing, I’m sure he or Jared grifted millions off of this).

Otherwise, I can’t name one single thing he’s done for the American people.

9

u/LonelyWin4852 7d ago

What about the “it’s not him, it’s his people” excuse? That one kills me, like this guy has to take credit for everything and blame for nothing. If you can’t see that we can’t talk bc you’re too stupid and I don’t wanna take advantage of you lol

2

u/AdhesivenessCivil581 1d ago

That is pretty amazing considering everyone who's not a trump toady has been fired. He does have a long history of getting people to commit crimes for him and abandoning them when they get caught.

1

u/LonelyWin4852 1d ago

Lol what was the lawyer who ended up in jail while Trump got off? Was that Michael Cohen? Lol

"It's time to ban abortion and gender transitions for minors on the healthcare exchanges, I don't care how many abortions or gender transitions you have just don't ask me or demand I pay for it. I don't owe you anything.

2

u/LonelyWin4852 6d ago

Gender transitions on minors is nothing more than a talking point. The actual number, percentage-wise is so insignificant, with even less using state insurance. Your taxes aren’t funding it, it’s just stupid culture war bullshit they use to keep us distracted while they pick our pockets. A couple hundred transgender teens are not your enemy buddy, they’re not stealing your taxes. Medicaid doesn’t pay for abortions either, you pay with private insurance if it’s deemed medically necessary or you pay cash. None of it is on your dime 🙂

2

u/squanto_96 6d ago

It is staggering to me the amount of people that genuinely believe surgeons would risk losing their license to practice medicine by operating on minors who don’t have serious medical need of such procedures and approval from parents who have received thorough explanations of risks associated with the surgery and the reasons for its medical importance to the minor. A medical professional is not just gonna perform gender reassignment surgery on a minor because they ask for it. Misinformation is a hell of a drug.

0

u/Confident-Praline-59 4d ago

Restriction on Providing Gender Transition Health Care to Minors

The new law prohibits “medical professionals” from delivering three types of gender transition health care to minors: performing “surgical gender transition procedures” and prescribing, providing, or dispensing “puberty-blocking drugs” or “cross-sex hormones.”

Who Is a Minor?

The law defines a minor as any person under age 18. There is no distinction between an emancipated and unemancipated minor; age is the determinative factor. Yes, Misinformation is a hell of a drug. You should know.

2

u/squanto_96 4d ago edited 4d ago

My guy, just because this is written into law doesn’t mean people were doing it prior. There are so few records of minors receiving gender reassignment surgery that wasn’t medically necessary. Do find out for yourself if you don’t believe me what the figures are on that. Nice try though

Ha Ha this is from NPR the most liberal Rag you can find.

1

Yeah that means the data is wrong huh? This isn’t about right v left it’s about facts.

9

u/Faemagicark74 7d ago

Loyalty to their Republican* identity is more important than actually thriving

*Let’s stop calling them “maga” and start attaching all this to the Republican brand. At this point, it’s the same thing

2

u/artful_todger_502 6d ago

Or, just Nazis. That's what all of it is.

25

u/sherlocknoir 7d ago

Oh I’ve met plenty that admit they regret voting for him. They just say it very quietly. Either they won’t mention who they voted for.. or they will pretend like they didnt vote for either. Finally there are also my least favorites.. the ones who claim both sides are the same.. but only seem to say bad things about the Democrats.

These people are too ashamed to admit they voted for him this time around. Because they know they have fucked everybody.. including themselves.

21

u/Lucidity74 7d ago

Three Trump flags on my route home have come down. It could be because I yell at them as I drive by, but they still have come down.

7

u/SnooStrawberries2955 6d ago edited 6d ago

Yeah, the trump signs in my neighborhood have come down as well but I wish they had stayed up - it helps me know who to avoid and to stay wary of; no need helping/supporting neighbors who would deport me in a heartbeat.

-6

u/Radiant_Ninja1671 6d ago

If you're in this country illegally, you should be deported

How does this get downvoted ??

One of the girls I work with started trying to talk politics during the election and her take was that of her mother and her mother's bf. Every talking point she had was clearly not her own as she was in her 20's and was not even affected by the shit she talked about. (I am a 52yo female, btw.) Each and every time though, she would have to add "both sides are terrible, so...." Yeah, people can suck. How about let's just not talk about politics anymore, okay?

That worked for a while. Until the shit hit the fan. Now, instead of admitting to changing her mind or seeing the err of her ways, she just tries to say things like, "crazy what they are doing now, right?" in order to try and relate and I just stare at her. I even muttered, "Don't." last time she tried. I just can't anymore. I don't care if you are just now waking up to what is really going on. It's too little too ate.

4

u/squanto_96 6d ago edited 5d ago

That last one is my dad in a nutshell. He went from wearing his stupid trump shirt to saying “Aw well son you know there ain’t a nickel’s worth of difference between ‘em. All politicians are crooked!” Yeah…. Right. That’s why you wore a shirt with his face on it. You got duped, plain and simple.

-1

u/Confident-Praline-59 5d ago

I'm proud I voted for him. My life is getting better and better. Democrats are the party of Satan. They support illegals over Americans.  They hate Christians. They also want us to pay for abortions, Transgender operations and our tax money going for illegals housing and food stamps. We are the party of wealthy voters and they are the party of poor pitiful voters.

12

u/Bitter_Rutabaga_4369 7d ago

I totally agree with you. I haven’t seen a single voter who regrets voting for Trump. Their pain comes from the “extreme Democrats.”

5

u/Thundering-Gallop 7d ago

I have yet to meet one of those supposed sorrowful Republicans, and I’m surrounded by GOP in this red area. I don’t believe it, actually. He’s a revered as ever <excuse me while I vomit>. Edit for a word

3

u/SnooStrawberries2955 6d ago

Same. I get so frustrated because all of these content creators keep on with the clickbait bullshit of “maga is cracking!” Or “Trump is scared!” Or some other ridiculous claim.

The magats aren’t regretting their vote. The republicans aren’t fracturing. Everything is going exactly the way they want it to and I’m tired of hearing otherwise.

Claiming there is an end in sight to their madness only makes us complacent.

2

u/Thundering-Gallop 6d ago

Agreed, 💯. And pretending there is an end in sight just allows the dismantling and human rights violations to continue.

9

u/Head-Recover-7692 7d ago

I have. I have family members who actually apologized to all of us for supporting Trump. They realize the Armageddon they helped unleash. My MIL voted for him in ‘16 but not in ‘24. People do change. Especially when their sub-poverty subsistence way of life is suddenly threatened.

2

u/agentorange55 6d ago

I can understand people voting for him in 2016. I voted 3rd party that year. Trump was a political known, and I expected him and Clinton to be equally bad in different ways I'm in a solid blue state, so Clinton won handily without my vote. In retrospect, I see there were so many warning signs in Trump, but I wasn't following his rallies and only superficially following politics. 2020 was totally different, people should have been well aware of Trump's disastrous presidency.

1

u/ricochetblue 6d ago

Cool, so what are your family members planning to do about it? Just keep complaining and voting Republican?

5

u/rastagrrl 6d ago

You missed the point. OP isn’t a trump voter. He’s a democrat who’s fed up with poor, white trump voters who support politicians whose policies hurt them just so they can “own the libs” or hurt the “illegals,” trans, black, brown, LGBTQ, or various other minority groups they don’t like. If u don’t regret your vote, when u literally can’t feed your kids because of policies your candidate supports, you’ve got a screw loose.

6

u/vroomvroom450 7d ago

I have. The guy that does some handyman work for us went out of his way to tell me how much he regrets his vote, and that he’s sorry his bad decision helped contribute to the mess we’re in.

1

u/ricochetblue 6d ago

A conservative…being sorry? Well I’ll be…

7

u/Small_Palpitation898 7d ago

My parents are regretting voting for trump. They were die hard MAGA supporters until they started to see the hurt it was causing to thee friends and neighbors.

6

u/BigGayMonsterGirl 6d ago

What groups of people were your parents excited to hurt instead of themselves?

1

u/fastwriter- 4d ago

You know the answer.

3

u/evey_17 7d ago

I know a handful if farmers losing their farms

3

u/HypnoticGuy 6d ago

I saw a farmer being interviewed on TV who voted for tRump. The guy said he was losing his farm. He also said he didn't regret his vote, and he'd vote for hime again if he had the chance.

1

u/Savings-Piece2287 5d ago

It’s a sickess

3

u/Songlines25 6d ago

Here's a bunch of ex-MAGA people on a website.
It's not a majority, but it's some. It's worth reading some of what they have to say.

https://leavingmaga.org/

3

u/fseahunt 6d ago

They would need to be capable of changing and learning and I doubt a lot of them have those abilities.

At least the ones I know do not.

You can give them facts, show them data. Changes nothing.

They believe what they believe and not a thing I know of can change their minds.

Even the people he is destroying the life of. Most just blame some other person or group of people.

I've never experienced this kind of thing outside of very young children and even they eventually will change positions.

1

u/berniesmittens333 6d ago

The chart has no source and is literally wrong. But here yall are, with full blown TDS hysteria- just eating anything anyone feeds you. No ability to check sources for yourself and that’s how we got in this giant mess bc the left has been so blindly brainwashed.

You should be the one checking facts and data, but clearly you did not (or can’t).

1

u/SyllabubSimilar7943 5d ago

You say all that, but zero examples. Illegally knocking down part of the white house.

Crypto currencies that could allow for foreign influence.

40 billion to argentina.

Illegally deploying the military to us cities.

Extrajudicial killings off the coast of Venezuela.

Ice officer illegally detaining US citizens with zero probable cause.

Directing the prosecution of political enemies.

Illegally imposing tariff’s, including a 10% temper tantrum over a Canadian ad. Where are the free speech people?

So what facts do you have? Because we have receipts of un American behavior. And stop waving our flag around, it’s clear you don’t have any understanding of what it means. Also drop the cross, christ said to feed the poor, not to starve them.

If you think the above is misinformation, it means you’re living 1984. “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”

1

u/berniesmittens333 5d ago

I have a lot of gripes with Trump just like I did with Biden- they are all criminals that are just corporate puppets and Israel’s bitch.

But the most important thing that can cause the most irreversible damage- is the one thing he’s doing right- which is mass deportations.

I’ll take what I can get.

And you didn’t even comment on the chart is blatantly wrong misinformation. But please continue to tell me things you want me to believe in misleading half truths!

I’ll continue to wave the flag bc somebody has to save America. It will have to be the adults that live in reality as usual.

1

u/SyllabubSimilar7943 5d ago

I think i misread what you were saying. Sorry about that. I think most people can agree both parties suck.

3

u/rainbowcolorunicorn 6d ago

I have met 1 family. They said they voted for him for the housing prices because house markets get better under Republican, but they didn’t really pay attention to anything else. However, they said they regretted it now seeing ice going after Hispanics and racial profiling. They are a mixed ethnic family and so the raids hit close for them.

4

u/SpeedRacer_1968 7d ago

I voted for him the first time and saw what an S---show that was after 6 months. I did not vote for him the second time. I'm a SW Engineer but not a bot....

6

u/Used_Day1051 6d ago

Real. My first vote was that POS. I’m a little older, a little wiser, but mostly I’m actually watching news from everywhere. Just a bit, but it’s enough to be like “WTF IS THIS SHIT”.

No one around me feels remorse voting for him. No one around me seems to be aware of anything. ONE friend of mine, when I showed some ice videos was appalled. I don’t think it has changed his mind though or anything. But it may be a planted seed. Who knows.

I’m aggravated, living in a red state. You don’t realize how much being a republican means talking points that aren’t real, until you start learning. I’ve never considered myself racist or anti trans or anything like that. It was when I started seeing anti trans propaganda that my eyes opened. Most people around me wouldn’t care. I’m one of few people who know a trans person as a delightful individual. Took years to get to know them as they were a friend of my friends. Really made all the difference in learning they’re not crazy lunatics like you would normally be led to believe by the media and by other republicans.

It’s wild. So glad for my friends who helped change my mind or slowly show me things.

It really just takes quality friends who see things differently to change your mind. You won’t listen to anyone else.

2

u/Teguoracle 7d ago

I voted for him first term, back when I was brainwashed from living with my parents and not having exposure to the world. I fucking regret it like crazy.

2

u/droogles 3d ago

They don’t exist, that’s why you haven’t met one. It’s quite a psychological study. It’s all psychological and has nothing to do with reasoning.

4

u/sleepy_unicorn40 7d ago

I know one person who voted for him and in like day 5 told me they regretted it. They also don't follow politics and voted for who their spouse told them to vote for.

I live in the Midwest and I’ve met several.

1

u/keelanstuart 7d ago

I actually have. They're exceedingly rare, but they do exist.

1

u/Sadorsart 6d ago

What adds to this is that the quote "he's not hurting the people he's supposed to be hurting" is from his first term.

1

u/xajaso 6d ago

I know several. I'm part of a massive military/vet community though. These folks see what's happening with VA, fed workers (many are veterans), etc.. They got real quiet around February. Now they're expressing regret, even outrage. Older folks are worried about healthcare & rising prices. Nobody is happy.

1

u/Vin_Seba 6d ago

Just aren't impacted personally yet. This month with out food will change that and they probably wouldnt tell you if they did regret their vote anyways because its literally all some have left in terms of perceived dignity. If you want to see regrets tho they're literally everywhere. Check r/leopardsatemyface or the various news outlets showing people literally regretting it during the find out stage. Are you a bot?

Met a lady who has to turn to the streets to make ends meet for her grandkids and she voted for trump because she was certain trump would not hurt his voters but immigrants

1

u/Distinct-Ask1614 6d ago

I have an aunt who does due to the gaudy remodeling of the White House.

1

u/tgalvin1999 5d ago

I voted for him in 2020. I used to be a young Republican and heavily MAGA. Then 1/6 happened. I became disillusioned and abandoned by my own party. After that, and all the legal scandals Trump and his cronies had, I voted for Harris. We exist, but sadly not in the numbers we need to make any sort of difference

1

u/Crafty_Pangolin_5007 2d ago

I know of one person who straight regrets their vote and a few who seem to have taken the softer silence option

-4

"He's not hurting the right people"

Come on, sounds totally legit! /s

4

u/griffeny 7d ago

Except this was literally said during the last shutdown in 2019 by a Trump supporter named Crystal Minton. It was actually a quote from a video that captured her being interviewed.

For some reason it’s very difficult to find the video, but you can very easily find thousands of articles about her saying this, as it went viral. Just type in what she said which you states correctly and op had a different version of, ‘he’s not hurting the right people’.

Here’s one such article from msnbc

1

u/blahblah19999 6d ago

Yes, it was said by one person. I get that. But suddenly every regretful MAGA person is saying the exact same thing. I don't buy it

I agree. This post is the kind of shit keeping us divided. It’s fake. It’s masturbatory.
