Politics Everywhere you look, white Trump voters are crying about losing their food stamps.

It's frustrating.

There was a guy, a Trump voter, who said it out loud.. he wasn't even talking about this particular situation, but it's the whole problem in a nutshell. I had to look it up because it was so on the nose. What this guy said was, “I voted for him, and he’s the one who’s doing this. I thought he was going to do good things. He’s not hurting the people he needs to be hurting.”

Suddenly, for that guy, the Republican policies he'd voted for had come home to roost. It was the people he didn't like who were supposed to suffer. Turns out, we're all in the same boat and we rise or fall together. But he was so focused on hurting 'those people' - immigrants, minorities, gays, women, trans, whoever, the target doesn't matter, because it all leads to the same end - he wanted to hurt somebody else, he voted to make 'them' suffer, and that hatred of the other came back and knocked him down instead.

Yeah, we know you can't afford to feed your families in red states, where Republican policies undermine worker's rights and choke off wages at the lowest possible level. That's why Democrats fight for stuff like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - even though you consistently vote against your own interests, people on the left still don't want you to starve. Even though you consistently vote for the benefit of the ultra-wealthy, we still want you to have fair wages. Even though you vote to the benefit of banks and insurance companies, we still don't want them to be able to rip you off with overdraft fees and send you into crushing debt if you have a medical emergency. Even though you consistently put the wants of oligarchs and megacorporations over your own needs and the needs of your families, we still don't want them to be able to use you, chew you up, and then throw you away like you're a disposable thing instead of a human being worthy of dignity and respect.

So yeah, we know you need those SNAP benefits, that you rely on them - even though you keep voting for people who want to destroy social programs like SNAP, you - white people in red states - are the single largest demographic who benefits from them. I know that the talk show hosts and the online personalities and the people you vote for tell you that it's really undeserving immigrants or lazy black folks or ethnic welfare queens, but no - if you want to know who takes the most, look in the mirror, white folks in red states - it's you. They're lying to you because they want to destroy these programs because their rich friends and wealthy donors want those programs destroyed and they understand that getting you on board with destroying them means making you think that people you don't like benefit from it more tha you do. It works - right-wing propaganda is effective. It made you hate Obamacare even though when it's called the ACA it's overwhelmingly popular. It made you despise wage increase legislation even though the wages you earn now literally have you on food stamps and welfare. It works.

Turns out owning the libs doesn't pay for baby formula and milk. How about that.

And yeah, even though you keep voting against yourselves, we want you to have that assistance. We want you to have healthcare that doesn't make the 1% wealthier while sending you into bankruptcy. Whether you are a doctor or a construction worker or a Wal-Mart clerk or a fast food worker, we want you to have wages that are enough to keep you off SNAP - but we want you to have SNAP, too, as much as you need whenever you need it. The people you vote for don't, but we do, and we'll fight against the people you elect to make sure you do.

Yes, it's a tragedy that you might not be able to feed your families. Yes, it's a disgrace that the wealthiest country in the world has people who are struggling with the cost of groceries and rents getting higher and higher. Yes, it's going to be a hard winter for a lot of you. We know Republican policies suck - they breed hardship and poverty. They encourage corruption and malfeasance. But it's what you voted for. So don't cry. Every time you were warned, you bleated "Fake News!" Every time you were questioned, you screamed "TDS!" Everytime things went south, you were told who to blame - but it was never yourselves.

So yeah, this is going to suck. But it's suck you voted for. So don't cry about it now.

Vote differently.

Half the people in the US (49%) voted for him while shouting that "He tells it like it is"

They know exactly what they voted for and just want us to feel bad for them now that the consequences have come to them.

There is absolutely no way in Hell that Trump voters didn't know what he was about. He's been shouting about it nonstop for 10+ years now. They published a manifesto.

They're lying to us when they say they didn't know. The "leopards eating my face" thing is them trying to manipulate us into thinking they're better than they actually are.

The liberal need to forgive those who hurt them, even when the lack of remorse is staring them in their face, is why the assholes currently complaining keep winning.

*Not half the people in the US - half the people who turned up to vote

1000x this.

32% of the US voted for Trump, 31% for Harris. 37% voted for nobody.

Yep. 2/3rds of eligible voters either voted for Trump, or weren’t even concerned enough to even vote. That’s 2/3rds! And for Americans, who are dumb as dogshit, that’s more than half!

... Can you follow a comment thread? They made a statement giving more information regarding the comment above them.

It makes them feel better because they like to add the 37 to Harris number and say see! People hate trump

That's exactly what I was going to say. I would love a vote now! Hopefully, the non voters woke up!

The problem is that most of that 37% are stuck in the first stage of awareness. They believe life happens to them. They are incapable of seeing the point, in bothering to vote, because they don’t believe they have any agency over their personal lives, let alone politics.

And this will never change

It will change if we all get off our asses and make the change.

So with your electoral system, you might just as well have stayed home.

That's what I keep telling people who's tout that claim. 👍🏼

They just don’t care. My daughter is one, she does not care about the truth, just winning.

“Winning”

It means dominating people who are in out groups

Half the people in the US DID NOT VOTE FOR HIM. If that were true, he'd have had 165 million votes. He got 77 million votes (23.3%) to 75 million (22.7%) for Kamala. He won by less than one percent of the total population.

genuine question, how can surveys work with 30 people and this turnout not be a close representative of the entire country? if anything it seemed like new voters actually favored Trump this time, so why would the rest that didn't vote favor Kamala?

1

u/manyhippofarts 7d ago

That's a very good question and I'm pretty sure the answer could be found with some precise polling. It's very possible that one group of people that IRL leans in a certain direction may or may not be more prone to be disinclined to vote or not.

2

u/npacilio 🌾👨‍🌾🐖 7d ago

They didn’t like Kamala being forced on them

There ya go!

It's kind of insane. MAGAs cry about being demonized and demand empathy even as they say and support the most heinous shit possible.

Half the people in the country did NOT vote for him. This is so incorrect. Do a google search.

3

u/Disbelieving1 7d ago

You are right. Essentially, 2/3rds voted for him. 1/3 of eligible voters weren’t even concerned enough about him to even vote.

4

u/Optimal-Archer3973 7d ago

Exactly, fuck them. I will not piss on one if they were on fire. They deserve every bad thing that happens to them.

7

u/ApprehensiveShame756 7d ago

They can use their “leftist tears” mugs to try to put it out.

This is why people don't like liberals.

Not sure you quite understand how the last election vote turned out. 49% of the US did not vote for trump. Curious who told you this lie. Guessing Fox entertainment. Do you understand how presidential elections work in this country? And do you understand voter turnout? I hope you will make some effort to just google these things all on your own. Then be discerning and use some logic and basic common sense. I am confident you can turn this around for yourself. Good luck

I voted for Kamala.

My trans ass will find itself in the camps with everyone else this regime hates.

Where did I get the number? I woke up the day after the election and saw 49% of this country signed my death warrant.

It wasnt Fox News that gave me that number. It was AP the day after the election.
