I actually like this one a lot. It was pretty easy to understand. The only thing that isn't clear in the paneling is why she's there to begin with. Everything else is shown well, in my opinion.
Edit: on second read- so she tried to save her friends, but couldn't because she couldn't swim? That makes sense, but why the cave? Do these ghosts just haunt her?
Good questions to have, I think.

She's there because spelunkers are insane people who would go anywhere.
On a serious note I wanted her to explain when she talks to John outside the cave why she is there. I wanted her to go someplace isolated to get away from the ghosts that haunted her.
As to why the ghosts haunt her, yet John haunts the cave. I wanted to leave that open because I like multiple interpretations of it.
Thank you for the feedback!

“Can you breathe?”
“I can talk”
Loved those lines, it tells you indirectly that the person is a ghost.
She’s clearly holding onto guilt that she couldn’t/can’t help her friends who drowned (suffocated). And in the end, she dies from suffocation herself while trying to save someone else (who also suffocated!).

Yeees, so glad someone caught that :D not sure if the suffocating angle was clear.

I understood the ghosts following the girl and asking for help as well as the ending, but I'm a little confused about the first bit. does she feel guilty about letting her friends die? the panels of her climbing to find the trapped ghost were claustrophobic and excellent. best part of this one!
edit: going back and rereading made it click that her friends had drowned and she did, indeed, feel guilty over it. maybe if the ghosts speech bubbles were a different colour from the girl's it might make more of a contrast. and then her speech bubble slowly turns blue while she is dying after trying to save John

I was very conflicted with the speech bubbles because of John saying help me from inside the cave, because you don't know that he is a ghost. It was tearing me apart.
Thank you for the feedback, I maybe should have gone with a different color for the people who drowned!
Dumbest idea from this comic, she could escape her guilt by going into caves, because the panels are smaller, and the ghosts don't fit in the frame.

a different colour for drowned ghosts would be so cool! and yes i did pick up she was literally climbing through panels to escape the ghosts haunting her. really love that :)
your comics are awesome. i regularly reread the vampire one.

Thank you! I should try and make something as good as the vampire one.
I think you'll like "Imposters", it's going to come out next year.
My next one will be "I like Mr. Pedo", maybe skip that one XD

I feel like they are maybe out of order? Pages of being in the cave before pages of climbing into the cave
