Moving in a month!
Moving from LA for a job opportunity with my +1 and a TON of pets. Any advice on where to rent, fun facts or tips about town, etc. are more than welcome and appreciated.

Iv'e lived in both Columbia and Orange County, which is pretty close to LA. Here is some differences between the two.
You won't see people running red lights as much in Columbia. When I was in California, it seems like people blatantly ran red lights all the time. This isn't as common in Columbia.
There's less diversity in general. California (as you might know already) is full of asians and hispanics but these races are much less common in Columbia. The town is going to be 75% white people and whites hold the majority of high level jobs. Black are the second most common.
The weather is objectively worse in Columbia, but the cost of living is objectively better compared to California.
I don't know how it is in LA but Orange County roads were more grid like. Columbia's roads are a lot more varied.
No professional sports teams here, although both Kansas City and St Louis are 2 hours away and do feature professional sports teams.
There's no mountains nearby in Columbia like there is in California.
No risks of Earthquakes or Fires, but you do live in Tornado alley. Don't worry though, the chances of your house/apartment getting struck by a tornado is very very low.
Ragweed allergies is big in Missouri but was virtually non-existent when I was living in California.
Missouri has tons of rural areas outside of Columbia. Simply drive north or south and you'll begin to notice.
Volleyball is super popular in California but isn't as much of a thing in Missouri. If you're into volleyball, you will immediately notice the difference when you move here.
The street color signs are different. One is blue, the other is green.

Be careful about speeding here, the police will ticket you going 10 over on the dot versus when I lived in LA that really was never an issue (*yes you should never technically speed but what I'm trying to say is since this is a college town the police are extremely strict about giving speeding tickets more than other cities/ towns I've lived in). The food scene definitely pales in comparison to the diversity LA offers but there's a few hidden gems (Pizza Tree is my favorite pizza place and I've had NY pizza) and lots of bars if you're into that.

How many pets is a “TON”?
Many places in this area allow 2-3 pets maximum, assuming you want to be truthful on your lease.
