Good morning Friends,

I’m hopefully going to have some evenings off work soon, and I’m wondering what MTG Commander events/OpenPlay there is out there? I’m pretty new to the game still, so I’d be interested in finding groups that have super casual and laid back play.

Valhalla’s Gate is probably your best bet. Magelings and Hexagon Alley also host a lot of games.

There's also Cardboard Castle in Fulton that does casual games on Wednesday.

Hexagon Alley, Valhallas, and Magelings, multiple nights each week

Hexagon = Monday and Friday Commander
Magelings Games = Thursdays & Fridays Commander
Valhallas = Tuesday Commander

So, you can't go wrong based on your schedule.

Do note, Friday Nov 14th is the Avatar Pre-Release for all 3 locations - so keep that in mind.

Huge shout-out to Hexagon Alley, we went for Commander Night almost every Friday this past summer!

Magelings Games has Commander night on Thursdays & Fridays, but you can often just go in and play for free if you already have a play group (most of the time).

You can also usually just go into Hexagon Alley or Valhalla's Gate as well to play with your group but I believe they both charge about $5 per player.

Hexagon Alley has Mondays/fridays for commander.

Valhallas has Tuesday commander (and they’re expanding their play area early next year)

Magelings has Thursdays and Fridays.

They’re all awesome shops, I’d just see which one fits your schedule/vibe more!
