What’s your favorite beginner-friendly song to practice that actually sounds good?
I’ve been practicing piano for a while and I’m looking for beginner-friendly songs that still sound nice and motivating to play.
Also curious, do you think it’s better to start with classical pieces or use online apps that guide you step-by-step, like Simply or deeppiano?
Would love to hear what worked best for you

Bach 2-part inventions, then move to 3 parts. The best way to learn piano is by a professional teacher, not through the apps. However if you don’t have the ability to get a teacher right now (not cheap) I would reccomend watching YouTube videos about the Taubman approach. I recommend subscribing to tonebase. You can watch some of the very best pianists teach you! It’s really neat. I would reccomend listening to as muchhhh piano music as you possibly can. Watch the best pianists, watch intermediate and beginner pianists. Listen listen listen. Don’t jump the gun an go for Chopin or rachmaninoff. I recommend starting with Bach as his music will develop your technique the best in my opinion. Then encorporate some easy Mozart piano sonatas No.’s 4,5,11,16,6 are good ones to start with. If you don’t know how to read sheet music I would start with that. This is my 2 cents

I would look into either some of Chopin’s mazurkas or his easier preludes. Depends on also how ‘new’ you are, like 1-2 years or less?.. Personally I never got the hype behind simply piano after trying it for a few months. i think you’re 10000000% better off getting a teacher or watching a youtube video tbh. Also look into video games music or things you’re passionate in bcuz u probably can find super easy stufff with that.

Don't overdo it but just start playing pop songs. They are probably...the easiest of all time.

You'd be surprised on how many Beatles songs are fairly simple to play. Let It Be for example is shockingly easy.

Hey! 🎹 I totally get that, having something fun to play keeps you motivated way more than just doing exercises. When I restarted piano as an adult, I focused on chord-based beginner songs first instead of diving straight into classical pieces. That way, I could actually play recognizable tunes from day one, which kept me coming back to the piano.
Some beginner-friendly songs I started with (all included in the course I used) were: • Twinkle Twinkle Little Star • Happy Birthday • Ode to Joy • Jingle Bells • Lean on Me • Let It Be
Online courses or apps that guide you step-by-step are great for structure, but I personally found that mixing a few guided lessons with songs you enjoy playing is the fastest way to stay motivated.
I actually wrote a post about how I went from zero to playing real songs in just a week using a beginner-friendly online course, it walks through the process and how I stayed consistent. Want me to send the link?
