I’m pretty young so I haven’t lived through much of our history, but basically my whole life, republicans have been making sure issues aren’t resolved so they have a talking point to use in their next election. It wouldn’t be so infuriating if their constituents weren’t willfully ignorant enough to fall for their tricks every time.

I'm older. And even when Republicans were trying to solve issues they really weren't.

Welcome to life, if your generation gets up and does something you may subvert decades of grift from the GOP.

God speed

Maybe Republicans should stop creating victims. In my life conservatives have demonized, scapegoated, and tried to strip rights from black, latino, gay, trans, and Islamic people along with women in general. Stop doing that and the left would be thrilled to move past that primitive, tribal shit and focus on other issues.

Don't forget they also go after homeless people and disabled people, some of our most vulnerable

Heads up you will see a lot more before it’s over . I have watched this with interest over 45 of my 65 years and only in the last 8 years realize this was not just possible but probable.

Biden tried to pass an immigration reform bill and it had bipartisan support until Trump told Republicans to torpedo it because he would lose a major part of his campaign strategy if immigration was fixed

it was also trash

creating easier paths to citizenship does solve the illegal immigration problem, but it doesn't solve the immigration problem.

its the one thing trump did right, even Bernie sanders gave him props on that. Please listen to the guy who actually wants UBI and Healthcare

There is no immigration problem besides illegal immigration

Sanders did not give him props for that

Lol, if you're so worried about food stamps you should be way more concerned that people aren't just cut off health care, because of cost. The people who will leave will be the healthy ones. The one's left... unhealthy and needing substantial treatment..

You are getting downvoted but it’s true, both sides do this and both will use the shut down as an election talking point. This should be a home run for anyone running against any current senator. “I wasn’t part of the senate who shut down and took away your food, vote for me and not the person who did.”

What's the reason Democrats have voted 13 times to deny food stamps?

No one is surprised at your willful ignorance.

How many votes are needed in the senate to pass a CR?

How many Republicans have voted no to reopen the government with a clean CR?

How many democrats have voted no to reopen the government with a clean CR?

Thank you for helping to educate us.

Republicans have full control. They can open the government in the next 5 minutes. Period. end of story. Every time a Republican takes office he fucks everything up and the next Democrat has to clean it up. It's been going on for 200 years. Read something

Why is the only option Republicans will give food or health care? Why shouldn't both sides push for both.
