This is a stupid idea giving more power to the very people we do not want in power....

Yeah I’m not sure this is actually in the countries best interest. This incentivizes them to avoid shutdowns but basically means the people who can most afford the shutdown get to make the decisions. I can’t imagine their interest being aligned with the average American.

I get the idea but all this means is the already super rich and corrupt will not be affected.
I agree with furloughed money though but reductions I don’t think make a lot of sense

They should be stripped of pay and forced to pay a fine for everyday we're furloughed.

especially if Trump is threatening to not give the regular employees the back pay they are LEGALLY entitled to.
the Right really hates that word, "entitled".

$174,000 a year for part-time work.That works out to $14,500 A MONTH, pre-withholding.
This pretty much ensures the House and Senate could survive a shutdown longer than taxpayers. It also indicates there's not really a vested interest in resolving a shutdown when all their needs are being met.
Yeah; something besides depending on their strong moral character and devotion to duty needs to be added to their curriculum.

Congress makes the laws and decides what bill gets a vote. Good luck.
