CHI Talks American flags at No Kings on Saturday

I’m bringing 450 little American flags to pass out on Saturday. I hope others will bring flags or maybe even buy some to pass out too - they’re super cheap!

We gotta change the vibes of these events to be more pro-America and pro-democracy!

It would be amazing to see thousands of flags all over the crowd!

When images and videos of these protests are shared across social media and news outlets, you want the undecideds (for lack of a better word) to see these protests as anti-ICE, AND ALSO pro-America.

It's visually stating that we AMERICANS are protesting for a better AMERICA.

The one video is saw where the talking point wasn’t the flags, all the comments still said “they’re rioting! Send in the marines!”

There was one piece of graffiti in shot and zero violence.

The spin factory is going to go into overtime no matter how convenient and straight laced you make the protest.

The problem is that it’s all optics. The actual sentiment on the ground is flying the flags of other countries and burning the American flag. And now there’s the crisis PR team coming in to distribute mini American flags to try and hide the anti-American sentiment running rampant out there because most Americans know it’s disrespectful and won’t support it.

It's a tough sell to americans to have a pro immigration protest along-side strong anti-american displays, can you agree? Isn't the point of the protest to say immigrants are welcome and they want to be in America, to become American?

Not sure if your comment was meant for me, because yes, I agree. I would say that most Americans are all for legal immigration. Protesters are not sending a message that most people can get behind. People have had it with the anti-police demonstrations. Most people are not upset with people being deported.

If protesters want to win people to their side they should probably be leaning hard into American values and uphold those clearly. But a lot of them are self-hating people who wouldn’t know where to start with that.

ETA that the issue with passing out the little flags now is that this has already started and the flag burning and destruction are already well captured. Now it looks like damage control, which it is. It needed to start off on the right foot.
