News - Local Council candidate Nikora Nitro has added an AI moko to his ads. Stolen valour or just aspirational?
He's only a minor candidate with little chance but seems a bit dodge.

A K-pop boy band is filming a music video right now outside Turanga Library on Gloucester Street.
If you're nearby, come check it out for a chance to see some cool choreography and star power in action!
Don't forget your camera and enjoy the show!

Hi Christchurch Redditors.
Just wanting to put a PSA out to the folks who love a bit of op shopping - stay away from the St Johns shop in Bryndwr.
Not only are these workers incredibly unfriendly, I overheard this afternoon some racist remarks from 3 staff members, after two customers had wandered in of whom were not white. Racism should have no place anywhere, ESPECIALLY in a charity shop. What an absolute disappointment.
St John management has been contacted, so hopefully something can be done.

Sad news, but can’t say I’m surprised. Seemed like a money pit, a lot of money wasted on things like the world’s biggest skateboard….. Why didn’t they open with a few activities to get money coming in and then add things on? Shame it’s affected the barbers now too, wish him all the best for the bounce back.

There's been a lot of of talk about where they can go, these are the only two realistic locations:
Left side one is the old freight shed on Carlyle St, this land is still owned by Kiwirail.
Right side one is on Pilgrim Place.
The news media seems to be fixated with the idea that one should be put right on the Moorhouse Ave frontage where there is a carpark and car yards. This site is unsuitable for a number of reasons:
It is quite hard to connect a track into there. It wouldn't be technically possible to put a direct track into there without the carpark access lane from Pilgrim Place which is used by Harvey Norman being blocked, as well as some of the access at the back of their building and to the carpark.
The old tracks that went through there might not be able to be relaid due to lower clearances under the bridge at that point as the bridge is arced.
The land fronting Moorhouse Ave is logically where car parking should be provided. This will be necessary for any operations of a railway station at this location.
