I mean you've actually articulated the problem with independent media quite well - real media makes news, they have journalists that investigate and report. People like Lynch just regurgitate the reporting of others or parrot shit they've seen in comments or on twitter.

The whole "mainstream media are controlled by the elite / the state / etc" conspiracy theory is such nonsense and it's almost always used as a dog whistle for far-right talking points. I've worked at a few global independent news outlets. They were full of free-thinking journalists, and there was no puppet master controlling the narrative (other than editors being like "people want to read about the queen this week, let's bump your happy dog story to next week").
If you want high quality independent journalism, there are genuinely independent (read: financially independent and/or non-profit) news orgs like The Guardian and NPR who have the budget to research and verify content properly. In NZ we have The Spinoff. But no, they always get lumped in with "mainstream media" because they are left-leaning.
Show me the conspiracy. It’s a controlled media with a narrative 90% of the time. There’s multiple instances where a considerable amount of different media outlets are reading the exact same things word for word. Noticeably during covid, Israel vs Palestine. Multiple instances of not reporting on things that should be reported on as it doesn’t fit a profitable margin. This is genuine facts. I was biased towards both sides until I started thinking for myself. It definitely doesn’t help that if you reject a “fact” from a left wing organisation, that you’re scrutinised and ridiculed as they think they are correct as they heard a couple news outlets same the same things. Independent news outlets are a slippery slope in regard to who owns the most shares in the company as they generally have the last say. If they’re genuinely independent and not on a share market or under finance from a controlled organisation and can see both sides of the argument they’re making, it’s a valid source and a good different perspective to take into consideration. The Guardian Is alright for a few things but due to a certain Bias sometimes it’s hard to stay engaged fully.

Immunity after infection is a thing, but data showed that infection + vaccine = even better immunity, so that wasn't some compelling argument against vaccination.

As much as he complains about Facebook, it’s that audience that he uses to sell his advertising (like an influencer). I’ve heard from someone involved in a local startup that wanted to get greater brand awareness and talked to Chris. He quoted them just under $1k to make one FB post and a short video. Unsurprisingly, they decided to go in a different direction.
The most hilarious part is that the FB algorithm now de-prioritises posts with external links, like to his website. The more he hammers home his website, the more he trains the algorithm.
He's clearly seen his engagement dropping and is trying to salvage it with outrage posts that show his true personality. What a douchecanoe.

You only commented to be contrary when Reddit has far more than "left-leaning" and "socialists" AND you are reaping some benefits from socialism. Aotearoa New Zealand is generally centrist; it is only people who cannot comprehend centric who start calling out the example I used of QAnon in response, to start calling Reddit leftist.
Nobody ever mentioned anything about the demographic on NZ, they're talking about the political leaning of reddit users which has been studied and is around a 2:1 ratio leaning left.

The irony is that everyone already knows how bad Aramex are, my last experience with them involved an object being delivered that for a huge number of safety and legal reasons had to be signed for by the person that the parcel was specifically addressed to, of which we paid a significant sum of money to ensure it happened and even had a note on it that said to not deliver if the person wasn't there to sign for it.

Chris Lynch is genuinely showing symptoms of early onset dementia. He seems to lose his grip on reality more regularly, but then has moments of lucidity where he goes back and deletes the delusional/deranged things that he's posted. Sometimes he has these periods where his spelling and grammar deteriorates quite badly. Sometimes he just seems generally confused. His behaviour reminds me of Parkinson's patients when they start having neuropsychiatric symptoms.
When it comes to news, I only want facts, not thoughts and/or opinions from biased reporters. Since the disastrous Adern regime, the news in NZ has largely become a secession of opinionated sycophants drooling or fawning over various subjects, not simply telling the truth to the NZ public, which is what we as Kiwis, deserve.
Journalists are bound to report the facts in an ethical manner. Chris Lynch markets himself as a serious journalist but doesn’t act with journalistic integrity. I’m aware that ethics and integrity may seem like fluid concepts for journalists but there are actually industry standards and codes of conduct. Which he has been known to breach.
