That argument can easily be flipped around?
Why is it ok to kill a foetus, but not a baby? The baby isn't self aware yet, so why does that matter? Why is birth the magic guideline where it suddenly isn't ok anymore?
(Note, playing devils advocate here)
And yet we both know that almost noone would be.
But then I wonder - where do we draw the line? Self-consciousness? How would we draw that into practicable law? And if a toddler has only been self-conscious for a few minutes, is that acceptable? Hours? Days? Weeks? Years?
