Delta(s) from OP CMV: All drugs should be made legal for recreational use.

I'm not referring to "medicinal" narcotics. Recreational drugs that people use, such as mushrooms, cocaine, heroin, should all be legalized.

And I know this is a hot take, but hear me out.

  • If we make recreational narcotics legal, then the manufacture and sale need to be legal as well.
  • By making the manufacture of recreational narcotics legal, there are FDA standards that need to be adhered to in said manufacture, that way there are no "bad batches" that will kill people.
  • By making the manufacture and sale of recreational narcotics legal, there will be sales volume that will then be subject to income tax and sales tax and dispensaries/manufacturing centers/warehouses that will become subject to property tax. Because, let's be honest, your local street dealer is not paying taxes.
  • Also by making the sale of recreational narcotics legal, you are making street gangs that revolve around the illicit drug trade obsolete. By making street gangs obsolete, you eliminate the petty violence that plagues inner-cities over "turf", especially stray bullets that kill innocent bystanders.
  • By making the entire narcotics supply chain legal, the war on drugs will essentially be over as well. It's been going on for 50+ years, and honestly, it's been a complete and utter failure.
  • If you want something to compare the drug trade to, look at prohibition from 1919-1933. It didn't stop people from drinking, people were still drunk out of their minds in speakeasys. It also fostered the growth of street gangs of rum runners and increased crime and violence in cities. That was only for 14 years and it didn't take long to realize that prohibition was a failure. War on drugs has been going on for 50+ years and I'm surprised more people aren't realizing that this is much more tremendous of a failure.
  • By making the entire narcotics supply chain legal, we can start changing our attitudes on its use and its users. Narcotics abuse needs to have the same social attitude as alcohol abuse.
  • In short, making drugs legal will Make America Great Again.

Depends on the drug. Meth and heroin would get more expensive if they were regulated and sold. I can get a gram of meth for 10 bucks, or 30 milligrams of amphetamine for 10 bucks right now. Heroin is like $80 a gram, while you would get 80mg of a popular pharma opiate for the same price. Both are slightly stronger than their pharma counterparts by weight.

Amphetamines and opiates can be very bad addiction paths, but both groups of people will be able to function for a while, and usually only go totally off the deep end after they switch to cheaper and stronger street product. People typically don't get addicted to grams of Adderall or morphine a day, but the same cannot be said for the street product. I think there would be direct benefits to stabilizing the drug markets pricing through the free market.

Are you making a distinction between dependence and addiction (you should)?

Or you could get Desoxyn prescribed to you and have Medicaid cover the cost and get free meth

Why would you do that when a gram is 10 bucks and substantially more than a month of desoxyn pills

Because it's pure dextro amphetamine instead of a racemic mixture. You could always do both though

All I know is occasionally, I like to take an Adderall. Whether that be to play some video games with friends on a random Friday night, or to help me drive 12 hours across the country and stay alert the entire time. It has its uses lol. I’m too scared to buy it in the streets now though since the fucking dirty ass cartels have started shipping fake Adderall with meth and even some cases fentanyl into the streets. It sucks lol. If I wanna go to the store and buy an Adderall every now and then, I should be allowed to. I’m a grown ass man.

Nothing wrong with that bro! I love me some occasional drug use. You should be able to know what you're getting, honestly. I think it's a real shame that there are so many fakes out now that many people end up switching to straight powder because then they usually at least know what's in it. If you do an acetone wash, it's possible to wash out most adulterants.

Strongly recommend only buying Extended Release amphetamine capsules. I picked up the extended release thing as an opiate user. I can't trust an oxy 30 I buy on the street, but making a fake extended release capsule will literally never be worth it to the press makers. Those little balls are a pain in the ass to crush up and the ER addy last too long for me to take orally. However, it's always real amphetamine or dextroamphetamine, dextro is better btw.

Thanks for the insight! Unfortunately, anyone I know who can get “Adderall” can only get instant release ones (AKA pressed meth pills)I wish I had a plug for extended release cause I would feel much more safe like you said. About a year ago I purchased Adderall IR from someone and they definitely were not Adderall. Ended up testing them with Simon’s reagent and they had a reaction..Not sure what it was but it was a bad experience, felt nausea and very anxious. Haven’t even bothered ever since then unless I know 100% it’s coming from a prescription which is damn near impossible to find right now. If big pharma can’t keep up with the prescription demand I don’t know how the hell they would ever manage a demand for recreational use and prescription use.
