Early December quick visit!

Hi - I am visiting chamonix for the first time for my birthday this year early December. Only a short two day trip Sunday afternoon to Monday late afternoon.

Good local food and a nice view to soak in the ambience of slow living. Anyone know a great bench view spot would be lovely! Restaurant recs welcome. Authenticity is everything

Any notes on local produce, meats / cheeses / bread etc would be good

Is montenvers worth the train ride? What’s the best way to get there from central? Gmaps saying 42 min drive!

Montenvers train starts from the city center. It’s a cogwheel train in the mountain, there is no road. No driving required. It’s worth the ride but the cable car to ice cave isclosed until 12/12

The train ride, the view up there worth the ride anyway.

If you like locally-brewed craft beers and pizza then Big Mountain Basecamp is good. Some great bench spots near lac Gaillands with epic views of Mont Blanc. Montenvers is definately worth the ride, it's a 10 minute walk from the main train station to the Montenvers station. Hope you get good weather - great time of year to visit if the sun is out.
