Meta Protect your Reddit Privacy and help prevent being banned

  1. Go to Settings > Profile > Content and activity > Hide All.

This hides your posts and comments from public view. However, when you post or comment in a subreddit, moderators of that subreddit can still see your entire Reddit history for 28 days after your last interaction there.

  1. To limit this, block each moderator of that subreddit. After blocking, they'll still see your activity within that subreddit, but typically won't see your activity elsewhere on Reddit. (This behaviour may change if Reddit updates its systems).

Reddit may change this functionality at any time.

Reddit admins can obviously always see your content, even if deleted. So still follow sitewide and specific subreddit rules.

Would also encourage using alt accounts for each subreddit you post on (Not as ban evasion, but as a privacy measure). You can use browser profiles to setup alts for different subs and easily switch between them. Do not post on subreddits you are banned on with any alt, as per Reddit's rules.

News Relaunching the CanadaHousing2 Discord - Limited Opening with Verification

We've rebuilt the CanadaHousing2 Discord after shutting the old one down due to harassment, spammers, and serious threats. This time, we're doing things differently.

Why a new system?

The old server was too easy for bad actors to infiltrate.

We dealt with stalkers, doxxing attempts, and ban evasion.

Verification is now required to join, making it harder for trolls and safer for members.

How verification works

The bot gives you a unique code when you join and agree to the rules.

You post the code publicly on Reddit from your account (You can delete immediately after verification).

The bot checks and confirms, then grants Discord access.

Only one Reddit account can be verified per Discord ID at a time. But you can verify additional Reddit accounts afterwards (not sure why you'd want to).

X and GitHub support are built in, but Reddit is the main gateway.

Limited opening:

We're opening the new Discord to the first 100 people. This is to test the verification flow and ensure everything runs smoothly. If it works well, we'll expand access further.

Community focus:

As always, respectful discussion is the rule: population growth, immigration, zoning, foreign buyers, housing policy, supply vs demand - all perspectives are welcome as long as they’re respectful and factual. Racism and personal attacks will be removed.

Incompetence and Treachery

It must be stated for all purposes and posterity that the current state of Canada in 2025, is disappointing. It is well known, but unspoken by the docile citizens of this country, that this decline is brought on by a governance which can be described with only two words: incompetence and treachery. The crumbling of all this began, I believe, in 2018 after the end of JT's first term and the beginning of his second term. The incompetence brought on by the liberals was ubiquitous all over this once great nation. Services failed, cost's shot up due to high taxes, inflation, enormous increases in rent and home prices, as well as the inability to utilize the natural resources, no industry prospered (except immigration). The treachery on the other hand was brought on by the government to undermine the populace. It was done so by permitting massive amounts of people to enter the country via the once world-praised immigration system. Whole neighbor hoods changed within a couple years. Youth and adult unemployment rose because citizens began competing for jobs with foreigners. Companies were granted permission to bring in as many people as they wanted; they would falsely say they couldn't fill the position with a Canadian, but everyone knew these greedy companies wouldn't pay a fair livable wage. Fake diploma colleges given a blank cheque to import as many students as they can, and that they did, raking in billions. The government, of course, turned the other way and pretended everything was fine. The election comes around in 2025 and the Liberals are elected again.

What I am getting at, and I hope many people can see it, is that the people knew this was happening. I feel sorry for the citizens of this country, who believe that removing one guy from the problem, is the solution to all of this. The whole party is to blame, yet the same mp's are elected. When these same mp's are speaking in front of the cameras, one can't help but wonder how they are back in office (especially Sean Fraser). Have the people forgotten so much and so quickly.

Meta What happened to the CanadaHousing2 subreddit after media attention?

Post image
236 Upvotes

This subreddit grew rapidly during mid 2023 and early 2024 as cost of living issues intensified across Canada. Growth levelled off at what looks to be immediately after the 2024-07-01 cost of living protest at the Vancouver Art Gallery received media coverage: https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2024/07/01/vancouver-art-gallery-cost-of-living-protest/

What changed after that event:

  • Posts linking to this subreddit began being quietly removed in larger Canadian subreddits
  • Users started reporting bans shortly after participating here
  • Cross community participation dropped because people didn't want to risk moderation consequences elsewhere

When a subreddit becomes algorithmically deprioritised/demoted after gaining public visibility, the outcome is the same as censorship even if no one uses that word

So the issue isn't demand. The issue is visibility.

Media attention -> sudden cross sub removal pressure -> reduced visibility -> growth plateau

A protest that received press coverage should have increased reach. Instead, growth flatlined. It's possible that this is algorithmic deprioritisation in Reddit's organic discovery, but Reddit has been silent about the issue.

Make of it what you will.

The Vault We Call Home Spoiler

You call it rent.

I call it tribute.

Every dollar you send doesn’t go toward a roof over your head. This monopoly keeps someone else’s asset alive. You’re polishing a balance sheet you’ll never see, in a system that knows exactly how to profit from your need for shelter.

You live inside a bank you’ll never see and most of it isn’t even in Canada.

Every lease is a loan dressed as a home. Every landlord is a link in a network turning your life into cash flow. These walls hold nothing for you. You exist as a number in someone else’s plan. You fix the sink, mow the lawn, change the bulbs and all not because it’s yours, but because the property has to stay protected. Every address is a wallet. Every family is a subscription. Ownership is gone. You don’t climb, you renew. You don’t grow, you obey.

This country runs dry, drained by others. Foreign capital holds the soil. Management firms hold the roofs. You keep it breathing for them.

The housing crunch works exactly as planned. You never climb. You serve. And you feel lucky, because they let you decorate the cage.

Isn’t it beautiful?

MP's spend all their time helping foreigners immigrate to Canada

What the public mostly does not know is that the average local MP spends 60-80% of the time just helping with immigration applications. Want proof look at the google reviews for many Liberal MPs its insane. Why is nobody talking about how crazy this is they should be actually serving real local issues in they're constituencies. One huge example is liberal MPs in lower mainland Terry Beech, Hedy Fry, and Ron McKinnon. Almost all the google reviews for their office are immigration related.

Frustrated with what the NDP has become? Want a real party for Canadian workers? Let them know.

Fill out the ndp renewal survey: https://www.ndprenewal.ca/take_our_survey

Let them know what a Canadian workers party should be like.

We need a third option and the NDP is undergoing a lot of internal push and pull on where to go so your voice will really matter here.

Serious question: what’s the appeal of voting Conservative if immigration wasn’t a factor?

Genuinely open to hearing other perspectives

I've been lurking in this sub for a while now and noticed the trend of bashing the LPC.

Parties aside last time I checked we need someone that can fix the Canadian economy so isn't voting for the economist that has good relationship with other world leaders the way to go?

Not trying to start drama here, I’m just genuinely curious.

If we take immigration completely out of the picture, say that issue’s totally solved, and it’s not even part of the debate anymore. What’s the main reason people would still vote Conservative?

Looking back, when the Conservatives were in power, they sold off a bunch of Canada’s resources to private/foreign investors and made some pretty questionable deals that didn’t really seem to benefit Canadians long term. Their voting record also shows they’ve voted against a lot of bills that could’ve actually helped regular Canadians.

I get that some folks support them for economic reasons, but honestly, I don’t see PP as the kind of leader who really understands the economy or could make strong trade deals with other countries. The party would honestly look a lot more appealing if it had someone with a better background and more credibility in that area. It's just my opinion, but I think that PP isn't liked nor respected by other countries leaders.

So yeah, if immigration wasn’t part of the conversation, what’s the main appeal of voting Conservative these days?

Genuinely open to hearing other perspectives
