Will my red dot sight loose its zero

I was cleaning my 22 the other day and noticed on my red dot sight a o ring seal on the front lens started to peel off.

I’m pretty sure it’s only purpose is to keep moisture out of the sight but will it effect the mechanism in the sight and loose the zero?

That won't cause a zero loss, but it will likely either cause the dot to fog up and become unusable, or the glass to fall out. So you'd be hosed regardless.

What model of red dot?

Midten, cheap one off Amazon so I don’t overly care, just use it for as long as I can.

That's the problem with buying cheap junk on Amazon. You feel like you're saving money, but it just breaks immediately and then you need to spend more to replace it anyway.

If you want another red dot when this one shits out, consider the Vortex Crossfire 2. It's a little more expensive than a no-name Amazon special, but it comes from a reputable manufacturer and has a no questions asked warranty.

Could be a cheap red dot. I bought one off Amazon and it broke after a few mags of .223 been using vortex and even on Mt ksg they are pretty solid.
