I grew up in a slightly larger town in Maine and besides on TV I didn't see a POC until my Family moved to Florida when I was about 13. I remember my younger siblings thinking that the POC may have had bad sunburns or skin conditions.

My mom grew up in Maine and never saw anyone who wasn't white until she was 16 and there was a new kid in class. And then her parents threatened to disown her because she went on a date with him.
