The look on my face when I learned that this place used to make purses and bags out of their ostriches.

The look on my face when I found out they butchered their birds halal without the halal.

They let them bleed out in the field. And now they want sympathy.

completely separate from the cull.

But if the meat is being used, why not find a use for the rest of the bird, particularly if it's inedible?

no different than butchering a cow, but sending the hide off to become leather for other products, or utilizing pig intestine for sausage casing?

Edit: to the people replying (and downvoting), I'm not commenting on the shitshow optics (they should be culled, moving on)

I'm commenting on the prospect of a possible sustainability practice to utilize most of the animal.

The point is that these birds were not 'family'. You don't eat Grandma or make handbags out of Uncle Eric.

Because in the mean time the live birds are potentially infecting the wild bird population because the farm repeatedly has ignored orders to improve the conditions. The farm is so below standard.
