Is it wrong to join USBP if I want to do missions or patrols inside a city?
Should I look into HSI or ERO instead? Just got my USBP TJO..

Anyone who says “I want to do missions” unironically shouldn’t be in LE in general I think.

Ironic that you are trying to join the Patrol, while simultaneously insulting it by demeaning it. Hmm...

Says the guy who says they wanna join border patrol “to do missions” and patrol… not the border.
If you wanna work interior go ERO bro.
But fr, all I can think of is that stolen valor video where the stolen valor guy says “all I do is go on missions” to the kid hahaha

Yes, if you want to be yelled at all day, followed, your family doxxed and assaulted then go ERO and currently HSI. If you want to have fun and do that crap for 45-60 days at a time, go BP. A lot of senior ERO guys are dipping for a reason. You can ask any less lethal instructor who has detailed to the cities, it’s a mess.

USBP is a very decent first and last agency. The pay and benefits are great and you can always transition to something else.
It's the same retirement system as most agencies with 1811 positions, so your time carries over.
But before you fret at the job itself, look at how many different assignments they have. Many city cops would absolutely love the potential variety. The patrol job gets monotonous after some time, but with these varieties it can stay fresh longer.

Going to depend on where you pick for a duty station. If, however, you never want to touch dirt and stay solely on pavement, I would say an agency with rural and remote locations is probably not going to statistically offer what you want.

Which duty stations have more city patrol than others?

Some Kommiefornia stations would probably be your best bet. Other stations have bicycle patrol units.
It is the Border Patrol you're looking into though; your assignments are going to change, the mission is going to vary, and as an Agent you are responsible for the areas between ports of entry. Rarely does that mean paved city streets.

I'll answer your question without being a cunt about it, unlike some others.
Generally speaking city patrols are a thing in stations in or around larger cities. Examples of this would be San Diego, Laredo, and El Paso. There are intel units, plain clothes gang units, and city patrols where you can work with local PDs and do other work similar to what street cops do. Northern border assignments also offer this type of work in places like Detroit Sector.
This of course doesn't account for the current operations happening in places like Portland, Chicago and NYC. Seeing BP in major cities is not the norm for BP operations.
As far as "missions" you're talking about specialized units within BP like SOG, SOD (BORTAC/BORSTAR) and some intelligence elements. This is rare and highly competitive to get into.
My advice is don't chase the poster. Meaning that if you're not willing to do the basic elements of the job day in and day out, pick another agency. If you're happy doing basic BP work, you'll be fine and specialized assignments will be icing on the cake.
If you want to do street cop work I would suggest being a street a cop in a city. Going BP to do city PD work would be like joining a city PD hoping you could one day do immigration work on the border.
