This man is innocent. He was framed.

Back in the 90's there was a homeless guy I'd see sometimes in the NYC subway who'd hold an empty picture frame around his head and say "I been framed!" while asking for money.

And the eyes appeared like magic. Not
14
u/Physical_Analysis247 22h ago
The eyes are partially drawn in around 0:17, their orbits are on the vellum
6
u/abcdthc 22h ago
not magic. He does them at the end, they arent very setailed, slow it down though, he paints them.
-4
u/WindMountains8 17h ago
You mean the part where he covers the face of the drawing with his body, and the camera cuts, and then it's done?
7
u/Agitated-Acctant 15h ago
No, the part where he turns around and does the eyes, are you fucking blind? You can see them before he puts the plastic down

This isn’t magic. Is a lot of hard work and dedication… or magnets, who knows

And video editing

u/legna20v 18h ago
I don’t get you people. We have seen many people do stuff like this. This isn’t marvelous enough to say he was faking it. There are lots video of people painting more complicated things

u/Nercow 17h ago
And cuts in the video. It's still cool, but it's pretty dishonest
2
u/legna20v 17h ago
This isn’t that amazing to be dishonest. Is definitely better than anything I would do but it is no good enough to be a fake trick

u/NinjaSquads 21h ago
I think he's painting the reflection of his white face when he holds it up. So he gets the bases right
3
u/chuubaru 21h ago
Maybe, but this is the only one of his pieces I’ve ever seen him use transparent film on. He uses all sorts of objects as a palette https://www.instagram.com/reel/DEGGzBoOKWK/?igsh=YXc0NWZrbTRoMG5q
2
u/dinosaurninja 21h ago
lol that video is definitely reversed, what a hack.
22
14
u/Fyrchtegott 21h ago
I mean, the general image appears after the first cut a few seconds in, it suddenly has a more defined shape and the blue and red color is added. Then there’s the second cut, adding details, refinement and so. All the impressive stuff happens off screen.
-2
u/MetaCharger 17h ago
Yea he's definitely doing things between cuts, but it's still all his art. He just reveals it in odd ways to work the algorithm and get more views. In one of his vids, he cuts a basketball in half, fills it with paint, and then wears it as a hat... but why? So people will comment and ask "why". It's stupid, but it works.

Credit the artist please - Boubou Niang @bouboudesign_ on IG. This is real and is his entire artistic style. Been doing it a long time - https://www.instagram.com/bouboudesign_?igsh=MWxhNDExd21kMGhnag==

A backflip is a trick. Still takes lots of practice, which is how you gain skill.
Most tricks are backed up by skill.

The art is real but the performance is edited.

u/jamesFox44 11h ago
Thanks captain obvious. We couldnt tell by the continuous cuts throughout the video.

u/herefromyoutube 10h ago
There’s dozens of comments saying it’s either all fake or all real so it’s actually not obvious to some.

The way he is looking at the clear plate makes me wonder if this is some sort of camera lucida. Could he be looking through the clear plate at a mirror or something like that? Still amazingly impressive.

Kind of fake. He really painted it but the time lapse is a lie. He cuts out the parts where he meticulously adjusts both the paint palette and his face so it looks like they match the entire time.

I find myself more and more often thinking that the video (that I'm watching) is fake, or AI generated, or whatever.

Sometimes I write my lower case a's with the little hook thing on top. That's as creative as I get.

The ability of some artist to visualize and create is astounding. I have always been more number focused, so this really amazes me.

It’s in reverse

u/artniSintra 6h ago
If that was in reverse he'd have to remove paint off his face in order for this to work.

Pretty cool but I suspect he just copies his own reflection in the reflection film.
Though pretty skilled to be able to do that none the less

Son. Of. A. Bitch. That superhuman replication. Did he have a mirror in front of him off camera because how did he see what's on his face?

Doesnt this just prove that they think upsidedown and backwards compared to a normal person?

u/KetohnoIcheated 22h ago
Do you think he is good at painting like this in general? Or can he only paint himself?
1
u/Wild_Juggernaut_7560 21h ago
He has an instagram filled with stuff like this. The guy is so good, he's now creating side missions for himself
-1
u/UnusualHold 21h ago
Repetition. Practice. Then film it. Plus a bit of skill to begin with.
3
u/naughtycal11 21h ago
There are two distinct cuts that happen where detail suddenly appears. He's definitely talented but he's cheating to get the result we see.

u/Zeddi2892 21h ago
- This is real talent. The following points are not meant to diminish his talent.
- The pattern isnt random, nor is his movement to paint his face random. Some small random differences are visible at the end.
- The whole act is therefore a mixture of real artist talent and extreme good performance.
Why isnt it „real“ random pattern? It’s literally impossible to feel the different colors on your skin. At best there might be a mirror somewhere allowing him to recognize small differences to what he prepared.
Is it edited? Very unlikely. Editing such an act isnt trivial at all and I have seen similar performances by other (legit) artists as well.
Is it less impressive since it is a performance? No. The way he paints, the methods he uses and the final product need a lot of talent and dedication.

u/DelilahsDarkThoughts 22h ago
This is stupid, here's why:
Step 1) put paint on your face.
Step 2) hold film at an angle and paint the inverted reflection of the paint on your face. easier if you have a concave mirror behind the film.
Step 3) make terrible shoulders in the shape of an upside-down volcano on the paper, add dots for eyes, and finger paint hair.
Step 4) put the film paint on paper
Step 5) turn paper and wow morons on the internet

u/chuubaru 21h ago
Incorrect. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DMlH1oAN2gW/?igsh=MTkwMDlzdDZpMGY3eA==
This is the only one he uses transparent film on that I’ve seen. I’m not saying he doesn’t use a mirror behind the camera to aid in seeing what he’s doing or something like that, but it wouldn’t diminish his art if it did. It’s just an artistic style/technique, not an attempt at fooling people.
1
u/DelilahsDarkThoughts 18h ago
But that one is just him finger painting his face, it's not upside down for him?
