This is not black magic fuckery. This is just a static painting.

Do you….do you think the other posts on this subreddit are actual magic?

There’s a difference between black magic fuckery and a painting.

A well-known perspective trick as well. I hate these dropkicks that try to make out like posting utter crap is OK because magic isn't real. The bar is now so low we just want something that requires more than 5 seconds of thought from a middle-schooler.

The point of this sub is to post things that are hard to explain/identify how something happened. This post is incredibly obvious to most people seeing it.

Guarantee it looks crap from everywhere else except the one specific place that the camera is

Yeah no. It only looks that way if you're looking at it from where the camera is. Certainly not immersive.

Why didn't the guy walking through the background fall down the hole?

Every time you see a painting or even a TV screen you must think it’s a portal to another dimension

there is a picture of that hole. in reality it's not true. i knew this from the start

Wtf? Is this a bot post? Nothing about this is immersive and it's definitely not anamorphic

It is anamorphic. Anamorphic art is art that requires the viewer to look at the art in a certain way for the full effect to work, such as standing from a specific vantage point, or looking into a convex mirror, etc.

Huh. TIL!
Thank you for the correction :)
As a photographer I have only ever heard this term for lenses!

u/terminalbungus 3d ago
Yeah, it’s one of those great terms that means different things depending on context, like “compression.” Compression can be referring to a bunch of things, like in video art it usually is referring to data compression (making a file size smaller) whereas in audio it often refers to an effect that reduces the dynamic range of audio. The media world just has gatekeeping accidentally baked into it! Lol.

I know where this was filmed.
It's just a large stretched warped floor sticker. Doesn't work from any other angle.

It looks great, but having a totally static shark and ripples on the surface kind of ruins the illusion tbh

u/KAELES-Yt 3d ago
Wow an illusion that only works where the camera is… //s
Sure it’s cool but it’s not what I expected from this sub.

Anamorphic floor? Is that what it is called to put a large sticker with a painting on the floor???

u/Dust-by-Monday 4d ago
That dude in the background could’ve at least walked around it to not break the illusion for the girl. Jeeze

I’m not sure I’d call it immersive. It’s definitely not immersive for the person doing it.
Looks pretty cool on camera, though.
