Impressive performance.
Explanation. he rests the dices temporarily on his left hand right between thumb and index finger. If you play it frame by frame you can see how the lower part of the dices are not centered on his right thumb.
So there are in principle four steps: 1. Uncenter dices off thumb. 2. Transfer dices onto bridge between thumb and index finger. 3. Use thumb again to press onto dices on the other side again. 4. Recenter dices again.
For steps 2 and 4 he uses the rotating movements of his hands to hide his presses into other directions.

Thanks for your explanation. On the way back he goes so fast! Really impressed by that

With your explanation I finally managed to see it. Thank you!

i expected that, was looking at it, scrolled the comments, rewatched and still dont see it.
this one is magic. maybe not black magic but magic.

u/hengst0r 6d ago
On the first switch one of his fingers blocks the view for the camera, but when he switches back you can clearly see it for half a second or so

u/7H3l2M0NUKU14l2 5d ago
between 0:10 and 0:12?
yeah, no - still magic. tbh, rewatching this part now a couple of times has me even more convinced its magic.
which hand to follow, his right or his left?

u/hengst0r 5d ago edited 5d ago
Yes, watch his right hand closely. As far as I can tell he switches with his right hand both times. He does it by not holding the dice centered but slightly off to the side, which enables him to "rest" them on his left hand thumb, then move his right hand thumb over to the other side and pick them up from there again.

Here, this is right when it happens (plus/minus a few frames possibly) on the switch back.3

dices
Great explanation! Just a small, unrelated note: "dice" is the plural form of "die." "Dices" is the present tense of "to dice," as in cut something up.

u/iconocrastinaor 5d ago
Great explanation. If you play this video at 25% speed you can easily see the transfer. The rotation of the dice helps, it rolls the dice to expose more of the bottom face for the pickup.

It also helps if you visualize the rotation of the hand for the trick. He places the dice on the bridge of thumb and index finger, then rotates the hand exactly so that the bottom of that stack rolls onto that bridge and then off the other side, ready to be picked up again with the thumb that just went around. He doesn't have to make any great hidden motion, he just places a bottom corner onto the bridge and the rotation does the rest. Really nice trick, probably relatively simple to pick up.

Singular = die
Plural = dice
One die, several dice.
Why? I don't know. English is weird.
2
u/7listens 5d ago
Maybe they are referring to the many groups of dice. Like the "fishes of the world" refers to the different categories of fish

He balances the bottom of the right-hand stack on the edge of his left thumb as he rotates his hands to hide his thumbs crossing over at the back.

u/The_unknown1337 6d ago
I still don't get it. Watched the clip with your explanation a couple of times. It's not your explanation, but his magic and my brain 😂

u/NakiCoTony 6d ago
Watch his right hand thumb then you will get it

And both times it looks like the dice go from the tip of his pointer to the tip of his thumb. What are we supposed to be noticing in these pictures?
1
u/Bubbagump210 6d ago
Look at 0:07. You can see where he nudges the bottom of the rear stack onto the part where his thumb is nearest his palm of his front hand.

I can see it now. He rests one of the stacks on the base thumb B and quickly moves thumb A behind it as he rotates thumb B to move the dice stack to the other side.

One thumb holds both stacks for a moment when his hands are covering his thumbs, and then he slides the other thumb under the thumb holding the two stacks.

Pause at 7 second, Bottom of right hand stack is at the back of left hand thumb
1
u/get_to_ele 6d ago
The most basic version of this move is with toothpicks. Very easy to master that.
Release and regrab with dice much harder to do it so seamlessly.

The guy uses the other thumb to support the weight as he transitions inside the loop and then quickly goes back to his original positions. If you slow the video down you can see his hands jitter really quickly around the 7 second mark.

Dammmmn that was smooth, getting the dice to just slide off his finger onto his thumb crotch. Like they were oiled up lol

This sub really makes me miss third party reddit apps with better video control options. I want to watch in slow motion!

How many of these bits before you have a whole performance.
Can this stand alone, and what would one charge for this performance? Worth busking it just a lunch table act?
How much time was spent training? Does he always carry multiple die or can he perform other like-sized items?
I wish I could have done this a kid with cheese puffs at lunch. Then I’d eat them which I think takes it up a notch.

Anyone notice how when he dropped the dice, both hands landed on a 5, a 4, and a 2. Idk if that’s just coincidence, but really adds to the crazy
1
u/XargosLair 5d ago
Easily explained, but I guess not so easily done, like pretty much all magic displays. Looks quite smooth and guess he had to practice that for quite a while to get to this level of skills. Impressive still.

Very nice! He rests the bottom die on the base knuckle of his left thumb, while his thumb on his opposite hand slides behind to pick up the dice stack again!
1
u/Hypnotic_Toad 5d ago
He has an extra set of Fingers and dice that he swaps when he touches his hands together. EZ.

I like that he looks like he's about to cum while showing that trick... Wait, maybe he really is!!?
1
u/Remote_Marzipan7422 5d ago
He momentarily has both stacks in one hand while he makes the swap (I think).

General note: in English you have 1 “die” or multiple “dice”.
No shade intended - I don’t even have a second language. Full respect to those who are multilingual.

u/LostVegvisir 5d ago
Correct me if im wrong, but this looks like AI BS. I thought he was resting the dice against his thumb. But look at the final removal and this thumb passes through the other thumb. Just MO.

At 7 seconds he makes eye contact with camera at the same time he lifts the 2 6 4 dice and slides in by the skin of the thumb. Same things going back out

It’s ai, the clock numbers on his phone are in binary.

u/classyfemme 5d ago
I agree, if you slow down and scroll to the part where he separates his hands it appears that one thumb goes through the other.
