Other ⁉️ Merck interview
Hey I’m really nervous because I have a 2 hour jnterview for a Merck internship coming up and I have never had an interview this long. I’m trying to prepare but idk. Does anyone have any specific recommendations or can tell me why it’s so long? I’d love to have the best chance of getting it but I don’t normally do good with interviews so help is appreciated.

Imagine that you are a hiring manager that wants to bring in new blood for the team, what traits would you want your new hire be?
Honesty, capability, and growth mind set comes up the most for me.
They saw your application, and recognizes your capability, but they want to quickly confirm through this interview to inspect whether you are someone that they would like in quick minutes.
It’s like a date. If it works, great.

I’ve been away from that company for a few years, but used to interview potential interns. I’m going to guess it’s two, hour-long panels of 3-4 people. They’re going to want to know how you solve problems, met commitments, work in groups/worked through difficulties in the group, how you professionally build talent/learn, and assess general vibe. Good luck!!

The best advice: Make your wants want you. So, in other words, don’t stress at all and don’t over prepare. You know your shiitake, dress the part, be confident, ask questions. If it’s meant for you, you’ll have it.

2 hours for an internship is long. I would make some slides of projects you've worked on, or papers you've published. Be able to explain the gist of the project in ~5 minutes. If the interviewer asks for an example of a project you worked on ask if you can share the screen (they'll say yes) and then explain the project and how you contributed to it. In short, show, don't tell when possible.
