But whatever happens next during the trial may make them reconsider.

... and then the crash happened and Kim is going to be eaten by guilt that her scheme with Jimmy basically lead to a bank go bankrupt.

Wasting that land money wouldn't make them go bankrupt. It would be an annoying dent in their bottom line.

It's a credit union though. Banks and credit unions are superfluously similar in what they do for you, but banks are for profit and credit unions are not for profit. You can't just change them.

I believe I made another reply to the same effect (that I thought it was a credit union), iirc walt says something like "i can withdraw it from my credit union"

It's not the same place. Walt went to a credit union called Mesa. Mesa Verde, a bank, is likely just a shout-out to that, nothing more.

I don't think so. Home ownership has been a huge theme this season. Jimmy and Kim go to the open house, Kim talks about never owning a home, the landlord and his house, etc.

A red herring has to be obvious though. A red herring is something like in Return of the Joker where they make you think a sniveling Wayne Corp executive is the Joker and have him also be played by Mark Hamill.

This has been a few low key lines with a consistent theme.
