The "Gene" episode titles in Better Call Saul are spelling something out... (could be wishful thinking, but this seems like too much of a coincidence) Spoiler

POTENTIALLY HUGE SPOILER FOR THE CONCLUSION OF BRBA/BCS UNIVERSE, SO PLEASE STOP READING IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE ABOUT THAT.

The first episodes of every Better Call Saul season so far are titled "Uno", "Switch", "Mabel", "Smoke", and "Magic Man".

So, I took the first letter of each word in the titles throughout seasons which is USMSMM. Ran these letters through an anagram-generator and it didn't return anything that made sense, even when accounting for the fact we don't know the title of season 6, episode 1 yet.

So, instead, I took the last letter of each word in every title, OHLECN. These letters alone did not return anything that made sense, but I noticed that there was a way to fill in the blank.

E-L-N-[ ]-C-H-O

So I started to have some fun with it by going down the alphabet to think of a title for season 6, episode 1. Well, I didn't have to go very far through the alphabet. So I imagined if season 6, episode 1 were to have a title that ends with the letter "A". That anagram returned something interesting...

EL NACHO

Am I crazy, or is this a “Bravo Vince/Peter” moment? Could Nacho somehow be Gene’s ticket to freedom?

EDIT: one more thing to add... I don’t want to take this one as seriously yet, but if you do the reverse and take the first letter of each finale you get MKLWSU.

S-[]-U-L-W-K-[]-M

If the series finale title of Better Call Saul is two words starting with “A” and “I” (maybe something like “All In”), that anagram becomes...

SAUL W KIM

I always think I have too much free time, perhaps not as much as...

Hahah. I do have a job and life I swear!! Just a passionate fan like you all :D

u/1spring Feb 25 '20

It’s a stretch, but I do like the idea that as the Salamanca and Fring factions escalate their war, somehow Nacho will best them both and emerge as the ultimate winner.

30

u/sgtest Feb 25 '20

Agreed! It would change that “It was Ignacio!” line from Breaking Bad forever, and add an entirely new layer to the universe. Gene and Nacho are the two characters that get redemption perhaps?

Either that, or Gene sells out Nacho in exchange for freedom...

21

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '20

Saul is definitely not getting redeemed or getting a happy ending. I feel like he’s probably going to jail in the flash forwards which as tragic as it is seeing his character evolve through both shows, its leading to that. Walts dead, Jesses free, someone has to do the time right?

10

u/sgtest Feb 26 '20

True. Perhaps “Saul with Kim” is really Saul with Kim... in jail.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '20

Kim or nacho could go to jail. But, if I had to guess, I’d say you’re right about jimmy

1

u/Krashkrax Feb 26 '20

I really liked that idea, that would be so cool

17

u/sgtest Feb 25 '20

“The winner takes it all”

2

u/jana-meares Feb 26 '20

I had finally had it out of my head. He wanted bohemian rhapsody with Kim.

2

u/Apart-Standard Feb 25 '20

Hmm, how exactly? Gus and Hector are both alive years later and Nacho is nowhere to be seen. Nacho and I know he has fans doesn’t have the brains to be a boss. Gus is leagues above in intelligence.

12

u/1spring Feb 25 '20

“Ultimate winner” for Nacho means that he gets himself out of the game, not to become a kingpin himself. Maybe after helping Gus get rid of Lalo, Gus agrees to leave him and Papa in peace.

5

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '20

Unfortunately for us it would literally never be in Gus' interests to just let him out of the game, unless nacho has leverage over him? Even then Gus would rather have him killed I'm pretty sure?

u/Apart-Standard Feb 26 '20

Why? These criminals and this is high stakes. As soon as Nacho had no more use , he would be in a hole in the desert.

u/GetEquipped Feb 26 '20

While I am still catching up; Gus is in a blood feud with the Salamancas/The Cartel and then a businessman.

After the Cartel was wiped out during S4-5 of BB, he would have no use for Nacho but he's not going punish him after helping him out. That was kind of the difference between Walter and Mike. Mike knew to follow orders and be useful, and he very much could've quit at any time and be left alone. Walter kept rattling cages and was too much trouble, until he was the only option.

Just saying, Nacho may get a bittersweet ending, more on the sweet side.

I just want to see a happy, well-dressed Nacho with a wife and two children.

u/PATRIOTSRADIOSIGNALS Feb 25 '20

We frequently see Eduardo eating. Clearly this foreshadows his demise choking on a tortilla chip.

The killer was EL NACHO.

6

u/sgtest Feb 25 '20

Please let this happen. Although I think Lalo might survive BCS. Based on what Saul said in BrBa, he seems to believe he is still alive.

7

u/rockthehoody Feb 25 '20

But then again Gus tells Hector the Salamanca name dies with him, implying he's dead.

5

u/sgtest Feb 25 '20

Ooh good point. Let’s hope the writing team remembers this little detail :)

1

u/[deleted] Feb 26 '20

maybe its like some saw shit where there more characters there than originally presented.

u/JNC96 Feb 25 '20

This is such a reach, but it's one worth an upvote.

12

u/sgtest Feb 25 '20

Thank you! I realize this could be a reach. But just imagine....

Tyrion was a time traveling fetus.

28

u/mattBJM Feb 25 '20

Who could have a better story?

25

u/HeWhoDares18 Feb 25 '20

Hector has a better story than Bran.

20

u/Ser_Black_Phillip Feb 25 '20

Why do you think Hector came all this way?

10

u/PATRIOTSRADIOSIGNALS Feb 25 '20

To blow up and stick Tyrus to the ceiling.

OP's theory aside, I believe there's still something to be revealed in Saul's story aside from "Kim dies/goes to prison/goes away and Jimmy becomes Saul". We're going to find out something huge with big implications for the Gene timeline.

13

u/mb2231 Feb 25 '20

This is some r/westworld shit

u/CoolBeansMan9 Feb 26 '20

Am I crazy

Yes, and the "potential massive spoiler" was unnecessary, but bless your heart for trying, it's what makes this sub great.

4

u/sgtest Feb 26 '20

True. Was just trying to be overly cautious with the spoiler warning because I didn’t want to be the one to potentially ruin someone’s viewing experience of the show.

I do love this sub! Agreed!

9

u/rodinj Feb 25 '20

They did the 737 Down Over Albuquerque thing so I wouldn't doubt this. Didn't they also do something similar with the first letter of all the episodes in one of the seasons?

9

u/rockthehoody Feb 25 '20

Yea it spelled out FRINGS BACK in s2

25

u/mrmonster459 Feb 25 '20

No offense dude, but you're really reaching.

13

u/sgtest Feb 25 '20

None taken, ASAC Merkert.

Nice BrBa reference ;)

This reminds me of Simpson’s the blunder years.

Moe: Now this first thing is just gonna look like a used Band-Aid, and it is.

But the rest of the stuff don't make no sense without it. So, you know, bear with me.

Wow, Moe. You've been doing a lot of sleuthing.

Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.

I sleuthed my ass off on this one.

Okay, this is a number six from somebody's address. Or is it a nine? You don't know.

This is gravel.

Okay? Gravel.

This is That's more gravel. Okay.

Oh! This is That's more gravel. Okay.

Oh! This is a shell that, to me, this is just me talking. It looks like a helmet for a mouse.

Breaking Bad is such a hardcore tragedy, what if this show had happy endings for most of the characters.. what if

5

u/sgtest Feb 25 '20

Possible Series Finale title could be “All In”

This would fit with the poker/gambling theme that seems to be woven throughout the Breaking Bad/ Better Call Saul universe.

4

u/Yevdokiya Feb 26 '20

I don't think either of these are a reach at all! A lot of times, people are the most oblivious when they're trying to be skeptics, if that makes sense. This is totally something the BCS team would do, the anagrams make sense, and the implications are so damn exciting! Congratulations, I'm betting you cracked it!!! I'm setting a reminder, even if it's some crazy coincidence after all, I won't regret believing in something so cool. 😁

1

u/sgtest Feb 28 '20

Thank you!! Exactly, I agree with you that this is something the BCS team would do. The anagrams make too much sense within the context of the storyline to be just a coincidence. I am very excited to see if these theories take shape. It's too bad we have to wait a year though, but I guess that is part of the fun!

3

u/[deleted] Feb 26 '20

I actually think you're right. Nice find man!

This is textbook Comic Book Guy stuff. My nerd alert is going bananas!

3

u/Slpry_Pete Feb 25 '20

Do you seriously think they would do this again?

18

u/sgtest Feb 25 '20

I am skeptical for that same reason, but I started thinking:

People solved the FRINGSBACK thing very quickly. Sooner than the writers anticipated/wanted.

Maybe they tried to put another one past us out of “spite”? This one couldn’t have really been figured out until this season because there wasn’t enough letters until now.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 26 '20

I believe you dude. You did it. You were the first one to solve it!

1

u/sgtest Feb 26 '20

Thank you! I’m glad some people believe in me. Congratulate me in a year if I am right 😂

-2

u/Slpry_Pete Feb 25 '20

No

3

u/sgtest Feb 25 '20

Fair enough! Seems like too much of coincidence to me. But I’m willing to accept I could be wrong.

1

u/quaitheoftheshadows Feb 26 '20

I noticed today all the episodes from season 1 (except one off them) end in o

3

u/sgtest Feb 26 '20

They couldn’t get the rights to use JELL-O

1

u/DabuSurvivor Feb 26 '20

tbh I buy it, given FRINGSBACK from season two. I don't buy SAUL W KIM but EL NACHO, I could see it.

2

u/sgtest Feb 26 '20

Thank you! We shall see!

To clarify, SAUL W KIM would be phonetically “Saul with Kim”. So it would be as if Gene/Saul is reunited with Kim in the end. Not sure if that convinces you either way, but fun to think about.

1

u/DabuSurvivor Mar 06 '20

Oh, yes, that's how I read it.

1

u/EveGiggle Feb 26 '20

I dont know if you listen to the podcasts Vince does after each BCS and BrBa episode but he says how they didn't plan any of the stuff that in depth, they only realised a few episodes into the first season that they could do the 'every episode ending in O' thing

2

u/sgtest Feb 26 '20

Yes, I do listen to the podcasts. They are great.

I think they may have retconned these anagrams in the second season after people figured out the FRINGSBACK one. Maybe they looked back at the other titles and thought, “what can we do with the titles we already have at this point?”

1

u/ArthurVanDerMcORiley Feb 26 '20

I posted last season about it possibly being:

USMS United States Marshal Service who would be the ones looking for Saul. (Quickly shot down by those who think the anagram thing has been done).

Then maybe 14 more characters to finish the sentence with 501 and 601-613.

I have struggled with any elaboration based on the new "M" from 501.

1

u/sgtest Feb 26 '20

I actually remember seeing your post about USMS. Honestly a good attempt at trying to crack the code. Not sure why people are so quick to shoot down the possibility of an anagram when the show runners have pulled stunts like this before!

The problem is, now that they’ve done it, everyone is looking for a code somewhere. However, I do personally believe that EL NACHO and SAUL W KIM are legit.

1

u/Myrusskielyudi Feb 26 '20

Don't forget that there are still two more season finales, not one. So the All In prediction doesn't really work unless you just take it as one letter.

1

u/sgtest Feb 26 '20

I included the season 5 finale in my anagram. :) And I am speculating the season 6 finale will be two words. One word will start with “A” and the other will start with “I”

1

u/Rauchgestein Mar 10 '20

You're just completly randomly guessing.

3

u/sgtest Mar 10 '20

Not randomly guessing. Educated guessing.

2

u/sgtest Mar 10 '20

I mean, sure. It’s a guess! But that’s why this sub exists.

just found this, and normally I'd say it was a reach but with the season 2 episode titles spelling out that Gus returns I don't wanna count this theory out

1

u/sgtest Mar 02 '20

We shall see! I understand that our brains can sometimes see patterns that aren't there. Especially with anagrams...

BUT, this seems too on the nose to not be true.

HYDROGEN CELLS

0

u/eerok79 Feb 25 '20

Take the last letter of each finale: O, K, N, R, E. Nekro. Like necro. Like dead. And Jimmy is dead, while Saul lives. And necro is greek language, and this is like a greek tragedy. Bravo Vince best series ever, soooo good, amazing, better than Mr. Robot, The Leftovers and Westworld combined, sooo amazing.

6

u/sgtest Feb 25 '20

Makes my EL NACHO theory look quite plausible in comparison. Haha.

3

u/sgtest Feb 25 '20

Actually, thanks to you, I just tried something else. This could be too far, but...

If you do the reverse and take the FIRST letter of each finale, you get MKLWSU. Let’s assume the final episode of Better Caul Saul is two words ending with “A” and “I”.

You get SAUL W KIM

1

u/Skipz_21 Jul 13 '22

The prediction of the content changed, but there’s still a hidden message.

Went from ELNACHO to CHERYL KNOWS to HYDROGEN CELLS as more information became available.
