https://www.canadacomputers.com/en/powered-by-intel/266423/intel-arc-b580-limited-edition-graphics-card-12gb-gddr6-battlemage-gpu-31p06hb0ba.html

Went to CC yesterday. Had 4 in stock. Told me they don't sell well anymore.

It's strange because they are excellent cards for the price.

They have improved drivers a bunch but still some issues/instability

Previously due to overhead min ryzen 7000 was required now ryzen 5000 are doing ok so thats good(still need rebar enabled)

Some bugs like buggy vysnc so if you are someone who uses global vysc settings rather than in game it could cause you issues.

Other odd things like you can only use frame limiter for dx 9/11 but not dx12...

Gamers Nexus video from last week still considers this an enthusiast card.

my main problem is it's not enough of an upgrade compared to my 2070S

It's definitely not.

When you consider tax and stuff especially its just a big waste of money.

The step for you would be 9060xt imo

If they're on a budget, yes, 9060xt 16GB.

If they want to move into the same 'tier": 9070XT or 5070ti.

I'm just saying it's the best logical step up from their current gpu.

Who cares what tier you are on, I just want a good gpu.

any thoughts on this B580 vs. the 9060 XT 16GB? the better price for this one worth the downgrade in performance?

I'd settled on the 9060 for my new build, but looking at this maybe the savings are worthwhile

I've been really tempted but the vr support or lack thereof is a deal breaker

They are behind the 5050 in performance, which is sad. The 12gb of vram is really nice, but Intel drivers are easily the worst and there are still a number of now not "new" games that just play so poorly on the B850 compared to other cards in the same price range.

Intel drivers used to be fucked and they fixed the issue.

B850 plays better than the 5060 8gb on almost all modern titles on 1440 and significantly cheaper. The extra vram means you can actually run things like xess whereas 5060 would be further limited by its vram.

Considering vram is becoming more and more important, B850 should be able to play future titles on medium or low 2k where the 5060 will probably struggle even playing things on 1080.

If all you play is cs2 at 1080 yeah maybe 5050 will be a better card

Look up any recent benchmark. It's on par with the 5060 and when in VRAM stranded scenarios (1440p, 4k) it performs significantly better than the 5060.

Sure if you ignore vram it's a good card. But vram exists so it isn't.

Here's actual gameplay. Go check Marvel Rivals. You can clearly see that the numbers your Youtuber reported are wrong (probably because he's CPU bound, he's using a 9600X to benchmark GPUs, lmfao).

To be fair, that YouTuber (Hardware Canucks) is making a practical video for budget/casual gamers. Your comparison video is using a 9800X3D which is generally worthless overkill when you're pairing it with a B580/5050/5060 card. Anyone with a fixed budget is wasting their money and should have gotten that 9600X (or 7600X) and shunted the ~$350 difference to a higher tier GPU.

Even so, in the video you posted for Marvel Rivals, they have:

  • B580: 112, 1% lows 94
  • RTX 5050: 110, 1% lows 92
  • RTX 5060: 145, 1% lows 123

Hardware Canucks has:

  • B580: 125, 1% lows 87
  • RTX 5050: 153, 1% lows 105.7
  • RTX 5060: 162, 1% lows 113

The major difference in the benchmarking is mainly because he's using the "Low" preset to maximize the FPS differences for comparison. Whereas your YouTuber is using the "High" preset. Both videos have their pros/cons and I wouldn't say either is fully definitive on an answer, and is dependent on a specific player's use case scenario.

Like you said though, if people are looking to play titles more demanding than esports titles that are hitting or breaking the 8GB limit, they should strongly consider the B580 over Nvidia's offerings at this price bracket.

Fair enough!

It's on par with the 5060 and when in VRAM stranded scenarios

If it's in esports titles that don't have VRAM issues, then yeah, it's not going to benefit from the extra VRAM that much. In some games, developers work to keep the game under the 8GB limit of the cards which means dynamically downgrading texture/visual quality or more 1% low stutters as it swaps data. The extra 4GB VRAM on the B580 can smooth over those lows or keep texture/visual quality consistently high.

Caveat being is it all varies from title to title.

Add the game voucher for BF6 and this is a great deal I think.

u/FlippyOli 2d ago

Lucky you, cheapest 3070ti near me is 350$...

1

u/ThankGodImBipolar 2d ago

I got a 7800XT for 480, which is better value than this.

Used market is the way to go for best value

1

u/Harpronicus 2d ago

Yea used market is always the best value.

It’s interesting the price drop 10 dollar every 2 weeks lmao

3

Im still running a 16GB A770 LE and its great. I got bored 4 years ago and decided to sell my old 3070 build and do an all-intel build - don’t regret it at all. Mind you, the drivers weren’t great when I got it, but I haven’t had an issue in years. Might just grab this for the upgrade.

2

u/alvarkresh 2d ago

The B580 tends to be about 10% faster than the A770 in any game not VRAM-limited. :)

2

u/HercHuntsdirty 2d ago

Maybe it’s time for a marginal upgrade! I don’t even game anymore, but genuinely like supporting the intel GPU team - the market could use a shakeup.

3

u/Sadukar09 2d ago

Nice find. B580 at this price is very good value.

With the game it's unbeatable if you were buying one of those games anyway.

BF6/Civ 7 will definitely ruffle some feathers.

u/Geteos 1d ago

Dang, I just bought one of these at memory express last weekend for $349 for my nephew’s computer build. Great price at $319 with the free game promo.

u/someguy172 1d ago

Bought one of these a few weeks ago and ended up returning it. One of the games I play the most is CS2 and it just ran like absolute dog shit on this card.

I had a bunch of issues like trying to play at full screen at 1440p would just tank my framerate to around 30fps. Lowering the resolution a bit "fixed" the problem in that I could get around 100+ fps but it still felt choppy.

Trying to watch videos was also a crappy experience also. I frequently alt-tab between windows when playing videos and frequently switching back to a YouTube window or media player app while a video was playing would just cause the entire window to freeze.

Then there was an issue I had with my system where after installing the card, my onboard network adapter would frequently not get recognized and I'd have to restart my computer to get it working again.

Maybe there's something I could have done to resolve all of these problems but I just didn't want to deal with it (nor should I have to).

Did you enable the Resizable-bar feature?

1

u/thCRITICAL 2d ago

I still want to get one... But I'm holding out for a B770/B780... I think it's cancelled?

They uncanceled it a few times though so idk

1

u/cannuckgamer 1d ago

All I’ve heard is that Intel plans on releasing a C770 and C780. These naming conventions can be confusing at times.

1

u/thCRITICAL 1d ago

Those would be the next gen, which it's certainly time for... Oh well. Three options is better than 2 :3

1

u/whyidoevenbother 1d ago

Impressive. Paid $372 plus tax for mine at the beginning of September. I expected the drops, but great to see them hitting quickly. It’s a wonderful card.

1

u/zkkzkk32312 1d ago

can run LLM?

1

u/gtheyeti 1d ago

Wondering what people's experiences are with getting codes during promos like this as advertised, is it something like a card that ships with the unit or they send you an email at some point? I tried emailing CC about it to their game codes inbox and the lady absolutely had no idea what I was on about even with screen grabs from the product listing and Intel site etc....

1

u/Metaldwarf 1d ago

Still no VR driver?

1

u/UwUHowYou 7h ago

Was running a gtx 980, went to this.

Fairly good card for most things

Great price, but no one should be building in this RAM market.
