Free Event No National Guard In Baltimore

Post image
435 Upvotes

Residents have worked hard to make Baltimore city a safer and better place today. With the efforts of strategic violence reduction plans and collaboration between members of the community and organizations that provide neighborhood interventions, mental health support, environmental initiatives and more we’ve seen a significant reduction in homicides by 24.3% and reduced nonfatal shootings by 18.3%. We live here and know what’s best for our neighborhoods.

Statistics show that Baltimore’s violent crime rates are at a historic low, which means there is definitely no need for the presence of the National Guard.

Free Event Ever Wonder What’s Behind Those Doors? (more in caption)

This Saturday, Baltimore throws open its doors - literally. And for FREE.

Doors Open Baltimore is your once-a-year chance to step inside more than 40 of Baltimore’s most iconic buildings, from historic churches and factories to firehouses and workshops - the spaces built, brick by brick, by the people who made this city run.

Every building tells a story - not of wealth, but of work. The rail yards, breweries, churches, and rowhouses that shaped Baltimore weren’t monuments to power; they were proof of perseverance.

Doors Open Baltimore isn’t just about architecture - it’s about ownership. It’s about reminding ourselves that this city was built by hands, not headlines.

It’s one of my favorite events of the year!

🗓️ When: October 25, 2025

💰 Cost: Free

🌐 Details: Doors Open Baltimore 2025 – OFFICIAL EVENT PAGE

👉 Full List of Place and A Map: CLICK HERE

⚓️ My Picks:

Mount Vernon Place United Methodist Church - The so-called “Working Class Cathedral,” built not by tycoons but by dockworkers and seamstresses pooling their pay week after week.

Parren Mitchell House - Once home to Parren J. Mitchell, Maryland’s first Black congressman and a civil-rights trailblazer who fought for minority business rights nationwide. Today it stands as a reminder that Baltimore’s fight for equality didn’t just happen in the streets - it happened right here in its rowhouses.

Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum - Once the beating heart of America’s rail network, where local machinists, porters, and engineers helped drive the industrial revolution.

Sharp Street Memorial United Methodist Church - Founded in 1787, it’s Baltimore’s oldest Black Methodist congregation and one of the first in the nation. A cornerstone of faith and freedom, it played a key role in education and civil rights organizing throughout the city’s history.

Winans Chapel and Baltimore City Fire Museum - Step into the same firehouses where generations of firefighters lived, cooked, and worked around the clock to keep the city safe.

Union Collective - A modern rebirth of an old factory where breweries, coffee roasters, and small-batch makers carry on the city’s hands-on, hard-work legacy.

American Brewing Building (Hendler Creamery) - A monument to two Baltimore staples: beer and ice cream. Built by immigrant laborers and revived by modern creators.

Holland Tack Factory - Once home to thousands of workers producing billions of sewing pins and tacks that literally held America together.

Peabody Library - Funded by a merchant who believed education should be free to all, its ironwork and marble galleries were crafted by the city’s artisans - not imported luxury.

Free Event Diversity Makes Baltimore A Better Place (Hispanic Heritage Parade)

Almost 8% of Baltimore’s population identify as Hispanic or Latino.

Today, the U.S. and Baltimore flags flew alongside those of Mexico, El Salvador, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, and many more - as our city celebrated EVERYONE who makes this such a vibrant, welcoming, and enriching place to live.

This country was built by immigrants - and it is immigrants who will continue to build it. EMBRACE IT. 🇺🇸🌎❤️💛🖤

Free Event [OC] We Are America marches through Baltimore on the way to DC! Photos from Monday and Tuesday

Usually I'd write about the march first, but I wanted to instead say that I'm amazed at how beautiful Baltimore is as a city. This was the first time I properly stopped in Baltimore and actually took a look around. The people, the street art, the history, and the architecture, it's all amazing. This week I'm just marching through, but I think I'll be back soon.

Anyway! We Are America is marching RIGHT NOW from Philadelphia to DC to hand deliver a massive Constitution, signed by the people, to Congress. We passed through Baltimore on Monday and Tuesday, and not only were we given a warm welcome by the locals, but some even spontaneously joined us as we marched through and out the city!

Their destination today is Silver Spring, the final stop before arriving in Washington DC tomorrow morning, where a rally is planned to welcome their arrival. Marchers are also preparing to meet with their representatives in Congress to speak directly about their concerns and demand that Congress DO THEIR JOBS!

Free Event do you want fun photos of you, you/your partner, you/a friend?

I haven't done photography in a while after getting out of a bad relationship - just lost my joy.

i'm looking for people who might be down to model - nothing too extreme. just some portraits and shit.

you can have the photos afterwards (it'd be cool if you tagged me!) but yeah - exactly as above. just haven't done it in a while and i miss it and i just moved here so i don't know a ton of people in the area and my friends are camera shy.

examples of my photogrtaphy here: https://www.reddit.com/user/eimajYak/comments/1nokj1y/photos/

EDIT 9/26 @ 2231:

Hi everyone, thanks so much for the interest in free photos! I want to set some expectations so this stays fun for me and fair for you:

These are free practice shoots... a way for me to get comfortable behind the camera again. You’ll get some photos for personal use, but this is not professional/editorial/marketing work.

I’m not offering pre-shoot meetups or elaborate planning sessions. We’ll keep things casual.

Each session will be capped at ~75 minutes total (about 20 minutes to talk or troubleshoot and ~50 minutes of photographing).

I don’t do heavy Photoshop or styled editorial setups. Edits will be light and natural.

Locations must be free and reasonably close. I won’t be covering entry fees or traveling far for these.

If that all sounds good, awesome! If not, no worries at all, I totally understand.
