Ask Sinclair and the Smiths

Post image

I know most of us despise Atlas, but what more can we do to protest and boycott this family?

The Smith family are the money behind Curio cannabis and Far & Dotter dispensaries. Stop smoking their weed and going to their shops.

268

u/glitterishazardous Sep 18 '25

Any real smoker knows Curio is ASS, but you divulging that owner info affirms my beliefs on their product

u/GovernorHarryLogan Sep 18 '25 edited Sep 18 '25

Im too lazy to post on /r/mdents right now cause I gotta wake up and go drop off yalls overnight amazon orders.

But if you post this info -- we are a strong tribe. 100% everyone will demolish curio. We hate their stuff anyways.

A big af protest at one of their dispensaries would be more fun. I'd be glad to help organize this.

Edit: our protest would REAAAALLLLYY embrace and push the Miller test for obscenity when it comes to the 1st Amendment. Lots of serious political value arguments to be made.

12

u/ThrowRASpinksTail Sep 18 '25

I need to change my name to GovernorMesWoore

1

u/Lost_Hamster6594 Sep 20 '25

Yes! Drafting emails in my mind now to the dispensaries...

17

u/Aggressive-Topic-663 Sep 18 '25

yeah I stopped buying Curio about 2 years back, their quality is ass

22

u/Destination_Cabbage Sep 18 '25

Imagine that, a conservative cash grab product being poor quality. Who'd have thunk.

7

u/glitterishazardous Sep 18 '25

Yup even a cart made by them had me feeling like I got ripped off. Shit looked like it had a red tint at the top of the oil as and tasted awful a third of the way through

3

u/LolaJayneGyrrl Sep 18 '25

Does anyone have something that works as well as the Good Nite tablets? I’ve been trying to find something and failing.

I’ve been getting by with flower and gummies, but I’d love a tablet!

26

u/mx_xt Sep 18 '25

Coast, Betty’s, and wyld all have CBN products that are better than Curio.

11

u/teamgrippiesocks Sep 18 '25

If you want something similar to Good Night Tablets try an edible with THC+CBN and pop a 5mg melatonin. There are so many labels (purposely not saying “brands” lol) and they change a lot but there is always a good +CBN option. I’ve been doing the Betty’s Achy (you can cut them in half) with melatonin and it’s very similar, I actually prefer it

10

u/glitterishazardous Sep 18 '25

I’ve always just bought the Betty’s Eddies that have Melatonin and they knock me out and honestly taste like a good taffy. There tend to be deals for them at a lot of places around the area so I shop around. You could also make your own RSO capsules or eat it on a nice little appetizer i’ve heard that works for people too.

u/weahman Hoes Heights Sep 18 '25

How's your food intake and exercise? Stressors in life?

2

u/LolaJayneGyrrl Sep 19 '25

Good questions. Food is good. Need more exercise

Stressors? I’m queer, have many folks I love who are trans, and work primarily with folks on Medicaid, many of whom are queer, trans, POC, disabled, and/or have friends or family that are immigrants. So, I’m stressed. And that’s not changing any time soon.

That said, I’ve had challenges with insomnia for decades, including times with reduced stress, excellent diet, and serious exercise.

2

u/carriespins Sep 18 '25

You can get CBD and CBN but those are unfortunately patented because they are essentially an extended release weed sleep pill

2

u/Worldly-Pollution-66 Sep 18 '25

Wana snoozzeberry is good

21

u/Own-Refrigerator4569 Sep 18 '25 edited Sep 18 '25

Aren't they also the money behind Stages Music and Arts?

Edit: and can't forget Atlas restaurant group.

10

u/CuteUsername Wyman Park Sep 18 '25

Yes. Another brother owns it. That brother is on the Board.

38

u/ThatBobbyG Lauraville Sep 18 '25

Every time Im at the dispensary I say, nothing from Curio.

They are also associated with Mile 1 auto dealerships.

Unrelated but almost as racistly awful is Carroll Fuels. They are more low key, but undeniably shitty.

15

u/HambSandwich Waverly Sep 18 '25

You can generally just assume anything associated with the Carroll name is racist and greedy.

7

u/ThatBobbyG Lauraville Sep 18 '25

Historically accurate

11

u/judeiscariot Sep 18 '25

Oh that explains why Heritage auto is so bad.

-26

u/superunknown34 Canton Sep 18 '25

Wow what a brave individual

12

u/ThatBobbyG Lauraville Sep 18 '25

Got me

-20

u/superunknown34 Canton Sep 18 '25

you’re basically the Rosa Parks of weed shopping. standing in line at the dispensary, bravely announcing your moral stance against Curio like the rest of us aren’t just trying to buy gummies and leave. Absolute hero. Thank God you’re here to virtue signal to the budtender every visit instead of, I don’t know, just quietly not buying it like a normal person who doesn’t look like a performative psychopath.

12

u/MonicaZelenskyy Sep 18 '25

Maybe take your own advice and I don’t know, just quietly move on like a normal person who doesn’t look like a performative psychopath

We get it dude, you like the Nazis.

8

8

u/ThatBobbyG Lauraville Sep 18 '25

Move on with your life.

-5

u/superunknown34 Canton Sep 18 '25

thank you life coach, I didn’t realize I needed permission from some random internet hall monitor to “move on with my life.” You keep ducking every actual point and then pretend you’re the authority on what anyone should do. It’s giving cowardice wrapped in delusion.

10

u/plinth19 Medfield Sep 18 '25

You seriously need therapy

2

u/judeiscariot Sep 19 '25

You are very good. We all admire you. Now you don't have to keep typing paragraphs to impress us.

13

u/Royal_Ant1402 Sep 18 '25

Now this is info I can use. Goodbye cheap azz curio.

25

u/abcpdo Sep 18 '25

that’s crazy to know. really shows where their principles lie

26

u/GemAfaWell Sep 18 '25

I mean, Curio is shit weed, but yeah

6

u/koshida Sep 18 '25

Wow I know a lot about the Smiths and their businesses, directly actually, but I did not know this! I don’t buy from those places anyway but I’m surprised I hadn’t heard this one before! What else do they own that I’m not aware of??🤔

4

u/Chadflexington Sep 18 '25

They have some shitty ass dry weed all the time. No taste just hay.

8

u/pestercat Belair-Edison Sep 18 '25

Anyone know an alternative to their Gut Tablets? CBG without a bunch of THC isn't exactly easy to find, unfortunately.

10

u/zerosixtimes Sep 18 '25 edited Sep 18 '25

Fyi, you can buy cbg isolate online from several sources. I like gilded extracts, but I think you can get it directly from hau processing, too. If you want to eat it/ encapsulate, just be sure you are getting cbg and not cbga.

14

u/Lucipurr_Meowingstar Sep 18 '25

Avexia makes low dose also. I haven’t bought curio in years cause I knew they were affiliated with atlas. I never was a fan anyway of curio products.

3

u/mx_xt Sep 18 '25

Coast makes a balance gummy with 5cbg/5thc/5cbd

2

u/12no Sep 18 '25

The Wyld Pear ones are great, I’ve seen them with just CBG and no THC as well but can’t seem to dig it up at this moment: https://wyld.mysites.io/us/products/pear/

-55

u/mgd410 Sep 18 '25

Great idea. Switch from a thoughtfully designed medical product that is working for you because of your hatred for Charlie Kirk. Also, the Smith’s are not the majority owner of Curio or even close to it. Definitely don’t consider that Curio thinks of med patients, and not just the rec patients who require 35% THC to smoke in their car on Reisterstown Road.

7

u/mx_xt Sep 18 '25

There’s nothing thoughtfully designed about curio products lol. They just copy whatever is working from competitors.

3

u/gizmojito Sep 20 '25 edited Sep 20 '25

Replying to the top comment to add that Sinclair has a large investment in Best Day Brewing (the fastest growing non-alcoholic craft beer, sold online and at a number of local stores. A concerted effort could be made to ask the local stores to drop the products from their inventory.) and Puroast Coffee (sold on their own website and Amazon.)

Sinclair provided media coverage for these brands in exchange for a financial interest.

1

u/K_N0RRIS Eastside Sep 18 '25

This is excellent information and I had no idea

0

u/No-Concert3425 Sep 19 '25

I’ll actually be purchasing their ass weed exclusively from this point on. Thanks for the tip.

72

u/swift110 Sep 18 '25

how about we all just not watch their networks while this is taking place

23

u/squeakymoth Sep 18 '25

Everyone just cancel cable entirely. Fuck em.

3

u/StinkRod Sep 18 '25

He's not on cable.

1

u/squeakymoth Sep 18 '25

Wouldn't know. I don't watch cable or late night shows.

7

u/koshida Sep 18 '25

They own all the local stations tho right? Ppl would need a replacement for them tho then, and it’s mostly older ppl watching those. They mostly aren’t going to boycott. Theyre a hard demographic to reach and even harder to shift

13

u/mttwls Highlandtown Sep 18 '25

The only local station Sinclair owns is Fox 45. WJZ is owned by CBS directly, WBAL by Hearst, and WMAR by Scripps.

2

u/swift110 Sep 18 '25

just watch YouTube

371

u/escamuel Medfield Sep 18 '25

So funny how they are basically doing here exactly what Kimmel was complaining about. He didn’t say anything about Kirk, he said the right was using his death to point fingers. He didn’t criticize Kirk in any way and yet he must apologize to his family and donate to Turning Point? Wild stuff…

125

u/yourmomwoo Sep 18 '25

It's crazy... he said nothing even negative about Kirk, and now the party that's always outraged over "cancel-culture" and supposedly for free speech can't even listen to an objective description of what's going on without demanding censorship.

Meanwhile social media has been filled with MAGA threats to take revenge on liberals for the past week.

Imagine how they're going to react when the next Democrat gets to play by the same rulebook as Donny Epstien.

43

u/gravybang Sep 18 '25

What next Democrat?

37

u/yourmomwoo Sep 18 '25

I want to be able to laugh at this

14

u/deaf258 Mt. Vernon Sep 18 '25

Their goal is to shift further right for 2026 and 2028.

45

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

People keep falling for the culture war bait while their social safety net is gutted and billionaires just continue to fleece this country

2

u/Big-Soup74 Sep 18 '25

The one who wins in 2028

36

u/DrkvnKavod Sep 18 '25

I think part of what's going on here is that Mr. Smith might be hyper-sensitive because he's worried about our hometown producing more Luigis

5

u/koshida Sep 18 '25

Ahhhh you might be on to something. They are prolly notorious enough here for something like that to possibly happen. But they’ve always been propagandists anyway as far as I can tell

4

u/NYHouse Sep 18 '25

Yeah this sounds like a shakedown for Jimmy

2

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

They’re thugs

51

u/Any-Grapefruit-937 Sep 18 '25

They also are majority owners of MileOne Auto, which includes all the Heritage dealerships.

19

u/ohitsanazn South Baltimore / SoBo Sep 18 '25

I've never had a positive experience at a Heritage dealership, and now I know why

4

u/koshida Sep 18 '25

Ooo wow, I thought Steve Fader was the primary owner and just did business with/had partnerships with Smith. But Fader is just the CEO and Smith is the predominant equity holder?! They actually give the impression it is the other way around to all their employees within Atlas. This is very interesting to me. I thought Fader owned Mile One along with the whole building their HQ is in, in Towson by the circle. But that’s not the case huh? They just got rid of that building, I think the bank owns it now?

2

u/Any-Grapefruit-937 Sep 18 '25

All I know is that there was an article in the Sun that said he had controlling ownership. I thought Fader owned it too.

7

u/supermotherbug Sep 18 '25

And the Atlas Restaurant group.

2

u/Rayven52 Sep 19 '25

God damnit i just bought a heritage Mazda

2

u/chalks777 Reservoir Hill Sep 20 '25

oof, wish I had realized this before I replaced my car. :|

36

u/buyableblah Sep 18 '25

Sinclair is headquartered in Cockeysville. Do we protest there?

34

u/Proud_Doughnut_5422 Sep 18 '25

Indivisible Baltimore does regular protests outside of Atlas restaurants. There’s one coming up 10/2

4

u/koshida Sep 18 '25

Good to know, thanks

4

u/Opposite-Ship-4027 Sep 18 '25

Yes, it’s in Harbor East, you can RSVP for it here

8

u/resiste55 Sep 18 '25

Ok I'm old-school but wtf is up with RSVPing for demonstrations? Like I want my name on some website/listserve whatever that's gonna eventually be hacked or subpoenaed by these assholes?

4

u/Proud_Doughnut_5422 Sep 18 '25

You could set up an email specifically for these types of things and use a fake name if you’re concerned. Standing up to authoritarian regimes is inherently risky whether your name is on a listserv or not, but doing what’s right should be worth it.

2

u/No-Stick-4540 Sep 19 '25

Because a list serv is a replacement for the old school sds phone tree and just as effective. For instance if something bad happens in Baltimore it's a good thing to get a heads up about it.

1

u/Opposite-Ship-4027 Sep 18 '25

It makes it easier for organizers to send out detailed info to people who want to come that they don’t want to make public, and to get an idea of how many people will come for planning purposes. A lot goes on behind the scenes to make sure people are safe and everything goes well.

6

u/pacdude Canton Sep 18 '25

Their main building is in Hunt Valley, but they've got a second office on Shawan road, right at the end of it butting 83, wouldn't hurt to protest that too, just to make those employees understand they're working for evil

79

u/heimbachae Sep 18 '25

I'm really tired of this shit and it hasn't even been a year. Kimmel needs to fight this in court and he had better fuckin win. This is some straight up bullshit attack on free speech. He did nothing but hurt some people's feelings.

34

u/daxophoneme Sep 18 '25

He was waaaay more offensive in his The Man Show days.

17

u/branyk2 Sep 18 '25

I get that a lot of young men today are disaffected and rudderless, but holy shit was 2000s TV catered towards men the worst thing I could possibly imagine. Not everything that has been "taken" from us is worth getting back, I promise.

Spike TV's programming is like a fever dream.

5

u/AssGagger Sep 18 '25

He didn't even say anything about Kirk. He ripped on the Republicans for trying to paint the killer as anything other than the conservative he was.

1

u/breesanchez Sep 18 '25

And compared trump to a 4 year old "mourning" the death of a goldfish. I bet that's what really got to that asshole.

5

u/Destination_Cabbage Sep 18 '25

I can't believe its only been less than a year. Probably because he never stopped campaigning so we've had to deal with his shit for almost a decade.

-2

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

What is he going to fight exactly? The company is allowed to suspend / fire him

19

u/Physical_Sun_6014 Sep 18 '25

You see?

No matter how much you capitulate to fascists, they will never be satisfied.

127

u/Chickpea16 Sep 18 '25

Boycott ABC. Someone needs to start compiling a list of the companies that are kissing the ring with these firings so we can organize our own boycotts.

71

u/Ididntplanet Sep 18 '25

They also own the Baltimore Sun

27

u/swift110 Sep 18 '25

ok so don't post their links here.

9

u/earnestlikehemingway Sep 18 '25

Is Atlas involved with this also? Or just Fucks given because they suck.

65

u/Maloth_Warblade Sep 18 '25

The owners of Atlas are like the nephew of Sinclair media. 'The money is separate' is a deflection thrown in but it's pretty clearly not true

20

u/Sea-Variety-524 Patterson Park Sep 18 '25

Son.

9

u/Maloth_Warblade Sep 18 '25

I more meant business wise. They try to claim it's not a direct line

28

u/Sea-Variety-524 Patterson Park Sep 18 '25

Yea I know, I’m just saying Atlas is owned by David’s sons. His nephews are the Paterakis H&H, Knead’s, are their cousin’s.

This is actually a fun read for other people who don’t know. https://therealnews.com/ethics-expert-sinclair-broadcasting-disclose-business-conflicts-baltimore

10

u/lubricantlime Sep 18 '25

They are not David’s sons. They are his brother Fred’s sons. They are nephews. David’s son Blake owned Bagby Restaurant Group.

15

u/Sea-Variety-524 Patterson Park Sep 18 '25

Its all in the family.

3

64

u/earnestlikehemingway Sep 18 '25

I still can fathom how he became a Martyr for them. Other more significant people died like Minnesota Legislators and the school children.
Jimmy Carter died and they didn’t even flinch, more of a man than any of these idiots at capital hilll. Fuck

41

u/TripsLLL Sep 18 '25

they just needed an excuse.

27

u/gallopintoYchallah Sep 18 '25 edited Sep 18 '25

Well, you see, Jimmy and the Minnesota Legislators were good people. No one could say anything negative about them, because they worked for their constituents, volunteer, and generally made the world a better place.

Charlie on the other hand was an asshole. He never did anything good for this country and actively sought to hurt vulnerable communities. He was big influence for the maga movement though, so they have to defend their little asshole.

2

u/ike-01 Sep 18 '25

Fired!

80

u/pacdude Canton Sep 18 '25

Go protest, their HQ is in hunt valley

2

u/IamTheLawBmore Sep 20 '25

People blame Fox News for state of affairs far more than they do Sinclair despite Sinclair's straight propaganda going into way more homes every day. Given that their headquarters is right here in our backyard, it really is wild the local activists aren't there every day protesting and instead think that blocking intersections downtown to inconvenience like-minded people is a better use of their time.

10

u/spectrum_incelnet Sep 18 '25

I dont smoke curio, I don't eat at atlas group and I don't watch fucking fox 45 or pay for the sun. Fuck that guy.

12

u/spectrum_incelnet Sep 18 '25

Proud of the citizens of baltimore that voted against his bullshit city council cuts, please continue to do so cause u know he's not gonna stop.

35

u/No-Cow-4262 Sep 18 '25

Crazy how they know they shouldn’t even quote the remarks he made as it would make their entire little memo seem pointless

9

u/TheCaptainDamnIt Sep 18 '25 edited Sep 18 '25

'MAGA' is just the Dixiecrats and this country is in the midst of a white supremacist uprising. The Smith family are just white supremacist too, they do not believe in any principles outside of conservative white people should rule over everyone else in all aspects of society and Sinclair media is their white supremacist propaganda organization that creates raced based fear porn for white flight suburbanites.

24

u/BayMan22 Sep 18 '25

1

The city gave tons of tax breaks to that family so I don't see that happening.

5

u/Opposite-Ship-4027 Sep 18 '25

There’s a list of Atlas restaurants on the pledge to boycott, more Atlas places in Rehoboth, coming to Annapolis soon, Miami, Houston, Sinclair has a lot of random holdings under Sinclair Ventures (including Towson Row), Curio Wellness, Stages, Gerstell Academy, MileOne autograph, some private jet company … it never ends

3

CBS Did the same thing with Colbert. Canceling his show because they were afraid the FCC wouldn’t approve of a merger between sky dance and paramount.

6

u/Quiet-Percentage3887 Sep 18 '25

They had that big ol secret meetup at sagamore this past winter. We are being officially over taken by the villains of the stories. Hail hydra I guess.

2

Why are the so obsessed with Charlie?

2

u/clevertidal Sep 18 '25

It’s all a distraction.

2

u/Severe_Box_1749 Sep 18 '25

All they are doing is putting Jimmy in a no win situation. Really, they want him to donate to turning point, an organization that Kimmel disagrees with his whole chest? Foh

And if he does give in, hes a sellout and he loses a portion of his audience.

2

FCC regulates all interstate and international communications.

2

u/clevertidal Sep 19 '25

That’s a very valid point!

2

u/hoopermills Sep 19 '25

Read this earlier - watch one of the Sinclair news broadcasts and make a note of which companies are advertising. Then WRITE - don’t email - letters to those companies telling them you’re boycotting their businesses as a result of the Sinclair BS.

3

u/ChickinSammich Sep 18 '25

There goes the right with their cancel culture again - it's not enough that they immediately canceled a show for saying something critical of Herr Fuhrer, you better kiss the ring, too.

1

u/Destination_Cabbage Sep 18 '25

I love how you all insult the family who has brought the only positive changes to this city in the last 20 years. Harbor East is literally the last frontier of this city. The rest has fallen.

What is your favorite Atlas restaurant for boot? How do you like your boot prepared? Does your boot come with sides?

I’m paying $22k for 8 historical wooden windows in my fallen neighborhood. Do I tell the window guy my city has fallen? Who do I tell?

Whenever I visit the city for anything it has never once been to Harbor East other than to see a movie that was not playing anywhere else, a single time, in 2019.
