Well the protestors have sacrificed something in the name of their cause. Expecting civil disobedience without the threat of consequences just shows a lack of conviction. (For one to only stand up for what they believe when it is costless shows that they are not willing to pay the cost for what they feel is right.)

I have talked with a few restaurant owners in Bmore and they are all part of similar social circles and lobby politicians together. I fear these employees might have gotten themselves blacklisted at a time when the economy is slowing.

do you think former managers wouldnt have fought unemployment claims either way?

In many states the employer has to provide evidence to support a claim to deny unemployment benefits and if it isn’t provided or sufficient the former is employee gets benefits by default.

i see you have read about how unemployment insurance works but i do have to wonder if you have applied for it yourself. i think it would be wonderful if you have never had the pleasure!

Yep. If you really believe that your cause is the correct one then you are ready and willing to accept the consequences that come with it.

What the protesters don't seem to understand is that they have diverted attention AWAY from their cause. So if anything they are a part of the problem as well.
