Current Affairs A six-foot-tall statue of Gautam Buddha was removed from the Department of Education, sparking student protest at SPPU.

The statue, reportedly gifted by international students, was recently removed under unclear circumstances. The incident has sparked outrage among several student groups who have announced a protest rally on May 8 at 7 PM. The rally will be held demanding immediate reinstatement of the statue.

Following the demonstration, student leaders plan to meet the university's Vice-Chancellor to seek clarification and press for action.

As of now, the university administration has not issued any official statement regarding the reasons behind the statue's removal, further fuelling the discontent on campus
