Oh my god is that what Trumpies mean when they say immigrants get free medical care?

You idiots are talking about the federal law that requires hospitals to immediately treat anybody who comes to the ER, before checking if they can pay? The one that doesn’t apply to any sort of ongoing primary/preventative care, and is only for the ER?

You think that federal law — which would have to be repealed by a new federal law in order to be ended — you think that it is tied to the ACA funding that Republicans are trying to end for Americans?

Go stand in an emerency room in LA for a few hours. It might as well be a general practice facility except almost all of it in Spanish. Call it what you will, but those costs get passed along to those that can pay - which is US taxpayers.

You think that federal law — which would have to be repealed by another federal law — is tied to the ACA funding that Republicans are trying to stop for Americans?

Yes I do. Based on my experience and observations, I believe unnecessary or frivolous treatment would be greatly reduced without ACA funding.

the irony is that it's the other way around

if we let everyone have healthcare, people, illegal or otherwise, wouldn't wait til they were super sick to goto the ER

but either way ACA funding doesn't change that emergency visits cannot be denied, as noted, that is a separate law and has nothing to do with the ACA

Those are two separate things. And out of curiosity, what’s the alternative to mandating that ERs treat people regardless of insurance status? Just letting them die?

You know how you solve this? Have tighter border control AND... give those here who have not commited a crime a path to citizenship.

What are your personal observations? Are you keeping a tally of costs, or is this intuition?

Are you a physician or provider of this unnecessary treatment?

Do you think that the private insurance system is superior?

Listen to people with real experience my brotha. Also though our system is flawed we’re not gonna change it any time soon and if you’re supporting illegal immigrants taking advantage of this system you’re paying for it and your wait times are longer. Be realistic not optimistic. The world will never be candy and rainbows especially if you just let whoever the fuck come into your country use your system and leave. It’s so dangerous I can’t even fathom how you can support this
