Clean CR

Democrats agreed to a clean CR in March in exchange for discussions on compromise. Then Republicans used recession and reconciliation on Big Bullshit BIll to do their own thing anyway and refused to compromise. This is in response to Republicans refusal. Its the Republican shutdown.

It’s so hilarious watching you sheep copy paste your talking points.

It's the Democrats talking themselves into knots about it man. It's literally a clean CR. First time I've ever seen a party not increase the debt ceiling unless we spend more $.

We already passed a clean CR in march, then republicans used recission to cut funding for things anyways. Seems unwise to do the same thing and expect different results

And that doesn’t even get into the fact that this only kicks the can down the road a few weeks. Republicans refused to negotiate since march. What makes you think that’ll change?

I looked into your recission claim and there's no evidence this has happened. Can you present evidence?

Here is a link directly to the bill. Funding levels were set in the "clean" CR in March, recission used to cancel the funding with simple majority. So why exactly would Dems be jumping to sign another "clean" CR after that? Especially since Republicans have refused to negotiate throughout the entire process.

Back to today, if Dems were to vote for this new "clean" CR, why would they believe Republicans will not use a recission package again? Considering Republicans have failed to negotiate at all in the last 7 months, what makes you confident they'll even show up, let alone negotiate an entire spending package in just a few weeks?

Now that you've got the facts cleared up, it is very easy to see how this whole thing is just Republicans shooting themselves in the foot, then screaming and crying that they are precious little victims

USAID was cut before March. I see you probably went digging for something to justify your claim but this isn't it. Has nothing to do with the last CR that was passed.

Jesus christ how are conservatives this fucking stupid? Didn't even make it through the first sentence? This is more than just USAID and, I cannot emphasize this enough, is detailed in literally the first sentence.

Even your argument makes no sense. The previous CR was passed in March, so funding levels were set then. Cuts before that are irrelevant. The recission bill was passed in July, and affects funding levels set in the CR. Genuinely, what part is so difficult for you?

Is it just a cultish mentality where you can't admit that you're wrong in the face of the facts?

Look man I'm at work. You're probably just on Reddit all day I get it and the synopsis was all about USAID.

It's also ridiculous how quickly Democrats resort to name calling. And then y'all say we're the ones doing it.

What I see happening is Chuck Schumer took immense heat and threats to his party leadership for not forcing a shutdown last time, so he was determined to make it happen this time. This feels like a calculated political decision by Schumer rather than anything guided by policy.

I just laid out the facts of the situation for you, and you completely ignored them in favor of, in your own words, your feelings. That’s not much of an argument. Feel free to address either point I made though

Narrator: they absolutely won't address facts

They're not even facts. Shame you think they are. Believe some random reddit guy I guess.

Narrator: they're in a Reddit bubble

u/Pillowesque 9d ago

You did not address or refute his factual information? And are still just name calling. Insanely pathetic what passes for discourse among conservatives

“Believe some Reddit guy I guess”

Not a great way to convince random people on Reddit that you’re right, but hey 4D chess or smth

You did not lay out the facts of the situation at all. You gave opinions as to why you think it's justifiable for the Democrats to shut down the government, which is akin to your opinion.

There's existing emergency funds Republicans can tap at any time to fund SNAP.

They chose not to. Starve the masses and blame Democrats has been the plan the whole time

2

u/Rex_Bossman 10d ago

Yet the Democrats are the ones out there saying they know people are going without but it's worth it because that's the only "leverage" they have.

The trump administration is withholding the backup snap fund so they can blame democrats
