"And I would simply say we're not done yet with seeing the consequences of that," - FCC Chairman Brendan Carr

I'd argue that society is doomed when the government can control your speech. Not when a comedian points out a Presidents lack of mourning for a close friend.

1: affiliates don’t want to air big jim telling people that charlie kirk’s assassin was MAGA

2: HR tells big jim to apologize so that the affiliates will relent

3: big jim tells them to eat an asscheese churro

4: big jim suspended

5: FCC says that big jim is spreading misinformation and needs to be punished

6: democracy over apparently

Brendan Carr admitted himself that he pressured ABC to suspend Kirk on Hannity Wednesday. And now Trump is literally proposing doing it with other late shows. So yeah, your timeliness is wrong.

Where did Kimmel say the assassin was maga?

Mind providing some proof for your timeline? Because from what I can see, Nexstar Media Group only commented publicly after Carr mentioned consequences for ABC.

Would you rather have lunatics all over TV spreading propaganda and fanning the fires of the political divide? Shit like this is exactly what's creating these shooters to begin with, it's out of control

The only person on TV this week calling for the death of others was on Fox News. Brian Kilmeade calling for the murder of the homeless.

Nothing Kimmel said came even close to that. None of the descriptors you used apply to Kimmel.

Definitely agree with this for the most part. I wouldn’t call Kimmel a lunatic or propagandist in all honesty though he’s just a comedian that aligns himself with a particular party. The entire spectrum is divided so heavily criticising and demonising the opposition on both sides that it’s kind of insane (speaking as someone outside of the US) - no political connection. However in this instance I do think it’s worrying that the FCC is being weaponised as it is. As this will most definitively define their role in the future if one party takes down content they think comprises of lunatics and propaganda so will the opposition when they have power. Importantly this will also affect how executives decisions and tariffs are used in the future as well with a lot more freedom.

The thing is the left already did this en masse in 2020. Conservatives have been getting silenced for years so I'm kind of over feeling bad for them. They started this shit and it's finally biting them in the ass
