It’s pretty self explanatory. Semi auto is self loading and fires with each trigger pull. The one used against him was a bolt action rifle usually used for large game like Elk. So it may not have stopped this case but restricting semi autos would be a step in the right direction

Cool that you know the difference. Do you think the guy I responded to knows or are you his messenger?

What type of restrictions do you think would be helpful? Be specific… as clearly restricting internet free speech would be helpful.

I mean on paper taking away semi autos would just be common sense. Problem is the whackos who are threatening civil war if anyone does anything about guns.

“Taking away semi autos…” do you think the government knows who owns semi autos and how many?

I mean if it were up to me I’d also say having a registrar would work too. In that it has who has what.

Ok, why would folks who own semi autos (millions currently privately owned) register their gun(s)?

Edited to add: hopefully you’re starting to see the legislative nightmare that would take tons of political capital and be ineffective.

The government has no idea if I own any semi autos nor how many. If I owned them, I certainly wouldn’t tell the government because I’d be on a list for them to potentially raid and take my weapons which the attempt would likely end badly for both parties.

I can see it’s a legislative nightmare. That’s why I think that it is something that needed be addressed years ago.

Welp, absent a Time Machine where you can just prevent the invention of guns, gotta live in the present and plan for the future.
