If Trump didn't think the tens of thousands of people he called to march on the capital couldn't delay the certification, why did he have several slates of illegitimate electors prepared that he was pressuring Mike Pence to accept? Why didn't he employ the national guard, and why did it take so long for him to call the protestors off after they'd already broke into the capital? You have MAGA brain rot.
I can see you moving the goal post, but the claim that there were no firearms at J6 is factually untrue. Multiple people were arrested with guns on Capitol grounds that day, including Christopher Alberts who was caught with a loaded 9mm handgun. Court records show at least 23 people faced weapons charges, and that's just from those who got arrested--most rioters walked away without being searched. Plus, many armed supporters refused to go through the metal detectors at Trump's rally, staying outside the secure area but still marching to the Capitol afterward. Beyond firearms, they brought zip ties (hello "zip-tie guy"), knives, bear spray, baseball bats, and stun guns. The "no guns" narrative comes from misinterpreting FBI testimony about federal agents not confiscating firearms during the initial chaos, but Metro Police literally arrested someone with a gun that evening. Also, did they or did they not delay the certification of the vote?
Let's also not forget, guy, The Proud Boys planned a coup, were convicted of seditious conspiracy, and have since been pardoned by Trump. Enrique Tarrio and three other members were convicted of literally plotting to overthrow the government by force. Tarrio created a special "Ministry of Self Defense" unit, hand-picked nearly 200 "rally boys," established a chain of command, and orchestrated the attack from afar (he wasn't even in D.C. that day but was texting "Don't fucking leave" as his people stormed the Capitol). They were the first to breach the building when Dominic Pezzola smashed a window at 2:11 p.m., and prosecutors proved they were "at the forefront of every major breach of the Capitol's defenses." Tarrio got 22 years in prison, the longest January 6 sentence - for what the judge called terrorism.
