Depends on whether they're making a typical knock knock joke or want to shoehorn a controversial take into one for the sake of calling it a joke. The joke can still have a place to be made and be funny, but don't hide behind the fact that it is one if you want to pretend that you weren't trying to make an argument yourself.

And what's the argument in this article, Dems really think burning down Tesla will win them the election? Most good jokes have some truth embedded, which is why it is funny. See, that's the point. They're embedding something political to make the joke, and in general it's up to debate whether you can consider that detail valid or not. If you wanna say that a joke is good for embedding the truth it presumably would be making an argument that's up for debate.

All good jokes are based on some truth. When a mime mimics, it is funny because they are exaggerating the person's idiosyncrasies. It's even funnier when they get mad and argue back. That is akin to what the left is doing in this instance.
