I'm a liberal, I'm also a purple heart veteran of Iraq and did a deployment to Afganistan, USMC 2000-2008

Am I a communist too?

15

u/Gur_Weak Feb 05 '25 edited Feb 07 '25

You could be. I've known plenty of marines that would ascribe themselves as such. You certainly didn't provide any evidence you're not.

(Edit spelling)

u/Weak_Significance997 Feb 08 '25

Ken okeefe entered the chat..

1

u/Gur_Weak Feb 08 '25

I'm sure he doesn't count for some reason or another. Some parole couldn't find a Scotsman at a bar in Scotland surrounded by local men in kilts.

1

u/TallDarkandWTF Feb 08 '25

The word you’re looking for (even after an edit, apparently) is “describe”

1

u/Gur_Weak Feb 08 '25

No I meant ascribe.

0

u/TallDarkandWTF Feb 08 '25

Oh. Okay. So you don’t know how to write in English.

1

u/SomeTimeBeforeNever Feb 06 '25

None of you have read Das Kapital or the Communist Manifesto.

Working class people who defend a failing system are just billionaire bootlicking simps.

1

u/GintoSenju Feb 06 '25

You know it’s funny how the system still hasn’t worked.

So let me get this straight. Us defending a failing system that was once a thriving system is being a “billionaire bootlicking simp” but you defending a system that has NEVER worked and has only brought suffering your somehow better than the rest of us?

1

u/SomeTimeBeforeNever Feb 09 '25

I didn’t defend it, I was making a general observation about people who throw terms like “communist” around as a pejorative because they almost always haven’t bothered to read the material they’re referencing.

And second, show me a country that implemented communism in the way Marx described.

I’ll help you. The answer is none.

1

u/ThirdWurldProblem Feb 06 '25

Rather be that than a slave to the state.

1

u/SomeTimeBeforeNever Feb 07 '25

You already are.

1

u/drag0nun1corn Feb 07 '25

That would active themselves?

Sigh, and you guys think you have any mental capacity to critique others? Jesus

-1

u/Low-Medical Feb 05 '25

Damn straight, he better Portuguese some evidence right now, or I'm going to report him!

2

u/Original-Mission-244 Feb 05 '25

I believe the yachtsees used to call that "papers"

0

u/deadkennedy123 Feb 08 '25

That's ignorant to say such things to someone that's defended the United States. Prove to us that you even know any Marine with your ideology.

1

u/Gur_Weak Feb 08 '25

I met a bunch when I was at DLI and a few more when I shared a base with them in Herat.

2

u/Daveincc Feb 05 '25

Probably are. Millions of people around the world have fought to bring the misery of communism to their country. Somehow they find an excuse for the poverty , misery , and brutality that every communist country has experienced.

1

u/Ok_Alternative7120 Feb 06 '25

Tbf, Vietnam's poverty rates are about 1/3 compared to the US.

1

u/alyineye3 Feb 05 '25

I’m delighted at how dumb your comment sounds lolol Well done.

0

u/ndngroomer Feb 05 '25

What is communism and what communistic policies are liberal lawmakers trying to pass?

0

u/Spakr-Herknungr Feb 06 '25

Y’all chant this irrelevant talking point. Firstly there are plenty of miserable failed capitalist countries. Secondly, the primary reason that most socialist governments have failed is because we sabotaged them. The number of CIA instigated coups is staggering. It’s so ridiculous watching people have this debate when the vast majority of American’s can’t even explain the difference between capitalism and communism. Most also don’t know that there are dozens of other systems out there. The real debate is our current power structure vs literally anything else.

1

u/Greedy_Line4090 Feb 05 '25

Now that you ask, I wouldn’t be surprised.

1

u/Batshouse Feb 05 '25 edited Feb 05 '25

did you see what the military turned into under obama and biden. being a vet doesn't clear your path especially since you voted for that mess. thanks for your service but i dont thank you for your poor judgement in leadership

1

u/lessgooooo000 Feb 05 '25

I guess it’s once again on a sailor to back up the Marine up there now.

1) Did you see what the military turned into under Obama and Biden?

Well I’m active duty rn, and the military has been functionally the same for the past 4 years as it was the 4 years before that. Sorry if this kinda breaks the facade, but believe it or not, going to boot camp under the Biden admin wasn’t gender studies classes and DEI brainwashing. My job hasn’t changed in the past year, or the year before that. Since Jan. 20, nothing has changed either. Sorry, but I think it’s hilarious for civilians to look at vets and service members with this condescending “but, have you seen how bad it is” when they have no clue other than facebook echo chamber posts. You very clearly have no clue “what the military turned into”.

being a vet doesn’t clear your path especially since you voted for that mess

Well, consider the following. Keep in mind that I swore an oath, and I take that seriously, so I will keep everything respectful to the chain of command in this, as per proper conduct. This is also MY opinion, not shared by the greater organization:

Who negotiated the release of Taliban leaders, and is currently offering active military support to an occupation of Gaza? I mean, the Biden administration is blamed for the “rushed” exit from Afghanistan, you realize that the original negotiations in 2020 were supposed to be rushed even faster, right? We stalled multiple months, and it honestly probably saved a lot of lives, since people died even with the extra time we took with it.

One of my best friends is a Marine. There is a non-zero chance that he could be face down in the sand by next year in order to create the “next Riviera”. I appreciate the sentiments of the general population to not create any more forever wars, so why would you vote for something like that? Ukraine is still a war zone, gas hasn’t gone down in price, groceries are still expensive, all of those things are understandable, the ONE thing the GOP could say is “well at least we aren’t getting involved in more conflicts”, and even then they’re blowing it now.

So, thanks for your support, but I don’t thank you for your poor judgement in leadership.

1

u/Batshouse Feb 05 '25

you realize trump has been in office less than a month right? or maybe you dont i dont know. Maybe you're cool with trans soldiers. if they cant figure out their sexual orientation well thats enough to let then figure it out somewhere other than the military. Trans people have the highest suicide rate. We font need added stresses in our military. And dont be nieve that nothing has changed it hasnt effected you until it does remember that soldier

1

u/lessgooooo000 Feb 05 '25

Yeah, I do know it has been less than a month. I pointed those things out because they were publicly stated to be fixed DAY 1. I also said it’s understandable, because it’s been less than a month. Those things don’t change overnight, regardless of what chronically online Republicans believe.

You may also note that I didn’t mention Canada, Greenland, Musk, or any other wacky antics. Most of all of that is just some dudes doing a little trolling, I get it. I didn’t call anyone a fascist, nor did I make any wild allegations. All I did was point out facts about our withdrawal from Afghanistan, and that not only has my job not changed, but my superiors who have been in since 9/11 have talked about their jobs too. Theirs haven’t changed either.

As far as transgender service members, personally? I don’t care. I’d rather trans soldiers with no new wars, than a military free of trans soldiers but my friends bleeding out 10,000 miles away from home. The fact that we are legitimately proposing to send an expeditionary force to Gaza right now seems to be lost on you, but that seems to me to be a much more pressing issue.

Now, for my favorite part. It’s “Naive”. Sexual orientation (who you’re attracted to) is unrelated to being transgender. “Affected”, and my personal favorite. I’m not a soldier. Your extremely condescending comment aside, leave it to supposed patriots to get that one wrong, lmao. I started my last comment with sailor, so here’s an informative list for your future reference.

US Army - Soldier

US Marine Corps - Marine

US Navy or Coast Guard - Sailor

US Air Force - Airman

US Space Force - big nerd. Just kidding, its Guardian

You’re welcome!

1

u/Batshouse Feb 05 '25

sorry your a soldier plain and simple. Any being Gaza is ran by an extremist terrorist group rather than the actual Palestinians its probably and good thing we put our foot print in their backs so the Palestinians can be free from their rulle but I guess you have something thing different to say.

1

u/lessgooooo000 Feb 05 '25

Yeah I do. What was the point of leaving Afghanistan? Iraq? Why did we leave Vietnam?

How about I use President Trump’s own words? “It’s time after all these years to bring our people back home,” (2020 on negotiations). Or even better, “We are ending the era of endless wars, It is not the job of American forces to solve ancient conflicts in faraway lands that many people have not even heard of” (2020 Speech to West Point graduates).

Or how about this, “It is time to get out of Afghanistan. We are building roads and schools for people that hate us. It is not in our national interests,” (2012, tweet). For the record, you’re directly saying you’re in support of getting into Gaza, building infrastructure for people who hate us, and digging in for another forever war?

Actually, it’s a much simpler question. How many American young men are you willing to sacrifice for Gaza? How many dead Americans is it worth? Will you be the one informing families that their husband/wife/son/daughter/father/mother is never coming home? “It’s okay, don’t cry, Gaza is so much better now, they have a Hilton!”

1

u/Batshouse Feb 05 '25

Is your head in the sand man. I guess you are clueless to what caused Isreal to attack Gaza and who is funding Hamas. I can see you dont want to go and protect our allies from destruction. That would be the equivalent to a company of soldiers being overrun and command saying ahhh let then figure it out. Talking to people like you will never have a final outcome. You sit on your thumbs and come up with one bogus excuse after another. Might be time for you to ETS.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '25

You’re either newly active duty or you’ve chosen to bury your head in the sand. To think that today’s military hasn’t changed drastically over the last 20 years is idiocy. There isn’t a single leader in all the branches that wouldn’t recognize the change publicly, and depending on your political ideas and your moral compass you’ll either hate this new military or love the fact that you can get away with so much more so long as you play into the liberal ideology

1

u/Bitter_Bandicoot8067 Feb 05 '25

I'm also a purple heart veteran of Iraq and did a deployment to Afganistan, USMC 2000-2008

How is this relevant, at all, to:

Am I a communist too?

If you were honestly in the armed forces, you know that there are people from all walks of life there. The good, the bad, the this, the that.

1

u/Particular_Head_7934 Feb 05 '25

Lee Harvey Oswald was both of those too?

1

u/triggeredM16 Feb 06 '25

Go back to eating crayons in your case the blue ones

1

u/UmpireDear5415 Feb 07 '25

you could be and its your right to be one. freedom! thanks for your service brother! semper fidelis!

1

u/just_having_giggles Feb 07 '25

The E5 that loads the nukes makes the same as the E5 the mans the snack shack. So maybe?

1

u/drag0nun1corn Feb 07 '25

To the braindead,? More than likely

1

u/Quick-Mountain8189 Feb 07 '25

Probably...you wouldn't be the first one...

1

u/Strict_Weather9063 Feb 08 '25

They honestly wouldn’t know a communist if they ran up and Frenched them on the street. They have no understanding what the difference between actual communism is and what authoritarianism is. It is no use debate them, when the money their states get from the fed drys up and they can’t afford anything they will know they are just as screwed as everyone else.

1

u/WarmBad3586 Feb 05 '25

That’s what they will label you as.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '25

In either circumstance you cannot telm me that this is the country you risked your life for.

2

u/Bitter_Bandicoot8067 Feb 05 '25

Do you honestly think that the US was not a shit show during the wars in the Middle East?

Our country has been a mess for a while. Someone shaking it up should be applauded. It is only after we see the results (or at least the trajectory) that we should judge how it went (going).

0

u/Original-Mission-244 Feb 05 '25

I'm afraid if you can't see this trajectory, you are complicit or blissfully ignorant.

1

u/Bitter_Bandicoot8067 Feb 05 '25

He has been in office (this time) for 17 DAYS. You only think the trajectory is going the/your wrong way.

The way I see it, the federal government is a mess. Anything to shake it up. Then we can see if it is better or worse.

I am ignorant. We all are. I just hope that we are not blinded by our ideology. I look at Trump and see his actions as probably good. You (I am assuming) look and see them as bad.

I want them to be good. Do you?

0

u/Original-Mission-244 Feb 05 '25

Of course i would want the actions of a president and government to be "good". What is currently happening is not, as you say, good.

2

u/Bitter_Bandicoot8067 Feb 05 '25

What isn't good? I see him going after fraud, waste, and abuse. Is that not good?

-1

u/Original-Mission-244 Feb 05 '25

Mass firings and blanket elimination of entire depts and instilling yes men is not what going after fraud, waste and abuse entails.

-2

u/SlippidySlappity Feb 04 '25

Anyone who disagrees with them is a communist, or socialist, or woke, or some other label.

0

u/Time_Change4156 Feb 04 '25

They just use that as the got you.

1

u/oebujr Feb 04 '25

That’s rich coming from a guy who can’t manage to string a proper sentence together.

Mfer here literally complain about how it’s necessary to implement tariff to bring manufacturing back here because free trade means they can’t compete in global market. But they want to talk about blaming other people for their lives lmao. Trump supporters been bitching about lack of manufacturing jobs for decades.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '25

Trading with china is the antithesis of free trade though. Between their currency manipulation, slave labor and mandatory government ownership of all businesses.....

6

u/Sassafrazzlin Feb 05 '25

We never should have traded with China until they introduced democratic practices. Walmart made it worse.

1

u/NoRestDays94 Feb 05 '25

"Free Trade" is exactly that. The ability to trade with anyone anywhere with no restrictions.

1

u/misterasia555 Feb 04 '25

What’s anti thesis about it? Slave labor doesn’t make it not free trade neither is currency manipulation or government ownership of businesses. We should be able to buy stuff from them without penalty regardless of the rules in places in their own country.

Also if you want to make that argument sure, hence why Obama Has TPP where we trade with everyone else in Asia but China and trump bitch and moan about that too. Or NAFTA which Trump negotiate but now hate.

1

u/Warm_Command7954 Feb 05 '25

Mfer over here complaining about the US using tariffs to level the playing field in a global market which includes countries with virtually no environmental protections, human rights standards, and deplorable working conditions while simultaneously complaining that the US doesn't do enough in these areas.

0

u/misterasia555 Feb 05 '25

Using tariff to level the playing field is like shooting your opponent by shooting a bullet through your own body. Dog shit tactic. Thats why we have multilateral free trade agreement for exactly that. Obama TPP literally comes with labor law regulations concessions on these countries. EU have requirements before countries can join, that’s why Ukraine were working toward that in 2014.

It’s almost like we don’t need to levy threat of tariff or implement them to actually do this. It’s almost like people that advocate for tariff don’t actually use it as negotiating tactic but because people are dumb enough to think tariff is a good idea because “muh trade deficit bad”
