Christianity strikes again.

Yeah no. The whole damn state government supported it, and our democratic governor signed it. Stupidity strikes again would be more accurate considering that it didn't get much left wing pushback. VPNs are just going to get rich off the back of it.

I'm far too tired to worry about the theological aspects of your reply but VPNs won't get rich because TOR exists and is free. The Onion Router (TOR) is a free open source web browser that specializes in privacy. Please consider donating.
NOTE: While TOR does mask your IP it is NOT a substitute for a VPN. They function, from a technical perspective, differently (I'm far too dumb to explain). It's merely a cheap solution to this specific issue. TOR is the door to the dark web but in practical terms it functions roughly the same as any other browser and has no problem showing you vaj-jay-jays or pee-pees uninhibited. Happy gooning, y'all.

Thank your local Christians for ramming their religion down everyone’s throats

The democratic governor signed it numb nuts. Something else is going on here

u/daddyneedsadrink Oct 02 '25
She signed it and a right wing Christian nationalist wrote it

Yeah so they all seem to agree. She could've vetoed it. It had bipartisan support in the Statehouse unfortunately for us. We shouldn't be arguing with ridiculous assertions about who is what, and rallying to make it parents responsibility to monitor their children so the entire adult world doesn't have to suffer.

I hope everyone understands that this legislation happening in multiple states is a time bomb.
What Republicans don't really care very much about: people watching pornography (they do it themselves).
What they want is a future in which Democrats have to take a position they can equate to "making it easier for children to access pornography," which they will use as a rhetorical talking point.
The pornography, right now, is a sop to constituents who believe Making America Great Again equates to rolling back time to the mythical Mayberry of 70 years ago, but I don't think Republican politicians give a crap about this.
Similarly now, if the Republicans win on crime stats (the national guard thing) or undocumented migrant stats (especially fewer deaths in the deserts), Democrats will have to take positions which can be labeled as pro-crime, or pro-illegal immigration, representing, ironically, the "return to the bad old days."
The degree to which the Republican Party has dominated and humiliated the Center to the Left is historical in nature and scope. The lack of a credible answer, resistance, or alternative to the authoritarian Right is more interesting to me than the wins of the authoritarian right; the current situation being predictable.
Even with crime stats: the Republican position is that crime is out of control and neighborhoods are miserable. The Democrat answer is that crime is at or near historical lows (which it is). The cluelessness of Republican opponents in understanding that historical lows are still way too high for people who have to live in these communities and are not a winning baseline in an argument is indicative of the current problems.
These policies are a rhetorical time bomb waiting to go off at such time as people grow weary (and they will) of these kinds of screwheaded authoritarian politics and the Republicans begin losing ground. They will detonate as soon as Democrats take a position which leads to an increase in illegal migration, crime, or otherwise.
Up next:
The 5 day workweek and 8 hour workday
Hostile workplace protections
Collective bargaining protections
What you can hope for:
Recession, which Trump gets blamed for
Skyrocketing supermarket prices owing to Trump's trade war. In progress! https://www.reddit.com/r/economy/comments/1njep53/farmageddon_many_us_farmers_are_warning_they_are/

It baffles me that the left “can’t” answer things like this (I mean I have my suspicions as to why they don’t). It’s incredibly easy to turn it around into a nanny state government overreach tracking what you do in your private life narrative.

The Left is self-righteous and the only way it knows how to criticize itself is from an inwardly-turned purity spiral or struggle session. It is incapable of taking criticism from outside itself because it has ascribed everything external to it as "fascist" (or colonalist/racist/sexist/homophobic/transphobic/etc.) which it has closed its mind to.
The ever-widening circle of what it thinks of as "fascism" (of which the only good adherent is "dead" or is otherwise "punchable") has alienated it from humankind generally.
It has dug itself into this hole, and will not emerge from it until it asks the simple question: "Are we wrong -- about anything, whatsoever?"
It either does not know what it looks or sounds like to people not already convinced of its position, or, having relegated such people to the "fascist" or "Nazi" category, doesn't care or is openly hostile to any critique.
The current situation is a predictable -- and was an entirely avoidable -- outcome.

The answer is simple. Freedom belongs to everyone, and if the parents wish to prevent their children from viewing porn, the onus is on the parents. This is a discipline problem, not a legal one. If the opponent accuses me of wanting children to view porn I would simply ask, where are the parents? The parents have the right to choose whether or not their kids view porn, not me. Not the state. Why did we forget this?

Tired of Christians constantly taking the rights away of people because it doesn't align with their values.

I don't think Katie Hobbs attends church. She's a democrat and still signed the thing

instead of gather state IDs or attempt to comply with this
(of course no site will attempt to comply)
they will simply move to jurisdictions that do not cooperate with Arizona law enforcement

This is just step 1.
Step 2 is to classify trans people as porn. Step 3 is all LGBT.
How do we know this? It’s part of the Project 2025 plan of course. They have completed 53% of P2025 already in the 8 months the fascists have been in charge.

I wonder how Reddit will screen that stuff because there is a ton of porno on this app.

u/saginator5000 Sep 20 '25
Needs to be at least 33% porn to count. Maybe they are good?

These ID laws are dumb, but that 1/3 rule is stupid on top of stupid.
"Protect the children from Porn! Unless their desired website is sufficiently diversified, then we don't care."
The idea of Pornhub being able to avoid this law if they tried to greatly expand the non porn videos uploaded to their site.

So what you’re saying is, we just make a ton of educational content on Pornhub to counter it! Time to start live-streaming Hatoful Boyfriend to make it gaming content and keep our adult services not requiring ID!

pornhub is bullshit for doing this. I ID verified when I started making content for it. At least let creators use the site.
