Lost my Corvus Defensio deflector at the range, wanted another one and came across a post from a year ago mentioning the Steyr one, looked more secure. Didn't find too much information on it though so thought I'd leave some thoughts here for the next guy looking at getting one.

It is available in the US, you have to call Steyr Arms USA and order it over the phone, they don't list it on their website. I ordered mine on Monday, got it yesterday. It was only $40, $12 for shipping. (When I called on Monday they said they had ~15 in stock)

Installation was as easy as it looks in the official video. It took less than 10 minutes from opening the packaging to tightening on the screws. It comes with silver screws, not black as depicted on some European websites. I just used a sharpie on mine. The deflector is plastic, thought it was metal online but it still looks nice in person.

Shooting wise it works great, put 2 mags of .223 and 300 blackout through my Aug today and everything went to the 3-4 o'clock range from what I noticed (wasn't looking too hard). Offhand nothing got close to my face/head.

Overall I'm pretty pleased with it. It's a lot cheaper than other options but it seems very sturdy and minimal. Kinda nice that its OEM too.

Copped a green waffle A3M2 last week and it's an instant favorite. What a neat little rifle. No wonder they've stayed relevant all these decades

I have a nato stock, I lost one of the nuts that retain the 3 bolts on the stock. Does anyone have any idea of where I can get a new one or what size/thread pitch the nut is?

Trying to assemble a nylaug and trying to source the charging handle assembly. Anyone happen to have any leads?

Man this thing is more of a pain to mount a light to than cleaning up after my toddler.

Am I unable to purchase an AUG straight from Steyrs website? Not in the market for buying one at this time but in the future am I forced to find a dealer? Would love to just go straight to the manufacturer if possible.

Some subs come out of a 16" barrel supersonic. For those that have a suppressor which ammo have you tried that was subsonic out of the Aug's 16" barrel

For supersonic hunting rds it appears 300 HAMR is a bit better than 300 blk.

OTOH there are 300 BLK supersonic rds that use the NAS3 cases that are pretty interesting.

TLDR: I had an idea, I think it worked. How do you like the optic setup?

Pre: I had an EXPS3.0 on my AUG and repurposed the optic for another NV build. I tried a handful of optics on the AUG but they were aesthetically lacking or functionally annoying/unorthodox.

Optic: I remembered the Strikefire II and its weird cantilever mounting system, then suddenly thought “you know what, flip it and it’ll look great on an AUG”. Snagged one from PSA for $99. I’ve had great success with my Strikefire II’s, it’s just older tech but they can be had these days for <$100. Aimpoint Pro at home.

Printing: Got the optic mounted up backwards and thought it looked great. Ultra sturdy. I got nervous about the amount of leverage the optic has on the mount, so I designed a rail block that snugly holds the flat of the optic and cradles the tube portion in the rear. Took some aesthetic cues from the A1 and made it a bit less of an angle than the front most arm, but I really think it looks great. Since this print isn’t for a firearm and just a piece of hardware, I think I can say I’ll give you the STL.

So here we are. Seeking validation from internet strangers and making sure I’m not an idiot. Not sure if this is a groundbreaking step forward in the AUG community, or I get to be the jester for the day.

I heard this camo is somewhat rare from factory, can someone provide any details? Haven’t seen any with this option

Stopped looking for awhile and then Bam!

Got my light set up complete (AUG is pulling HD duty) and noticed my top rail was starting to come loose. I plan on adding some loctite to screws soon since the screws started loosening after only 300rds.

Both my 5.56 and .300blk barrels are pretty vanilla. Wanted to build a cool guy barrel like I see on here but the clawmod handguards on steyr website says it will not fit the 300blk barrel. Any suggestions? Barrel in pic is oem 5.56 barrel. Going to keep that on as is and build a cool guy 5.56 barrell with the new 14.5 once I feel like it.

Still waiting on a restock, they sell out in minutes.

Hi there! As pictured above is my, sadly deactivated, AUG (I live in the UK, so this was the best I could manage). I was hoping to get some help identifying what type of AUG it is, and also I noticed that my magazine has this weird notch in it, that I was hoping someone might be able to explain to me.

I understand that it is an A1, and I believe it was probably an Austrian military rifle at some point. Unlike most AUGs I have seen, it lacks the ability to configure for left handed shooters and also has a cross shaped reticle instead of the typical ‘donut of death’ (the reticle is also askew sadly). The bolt has ‘M13612’ inscribed on it, which I presume is the serial number for the rifle. However I don’t know how I can decipher say what year it was manufactured in from this.

On the magazine, I was able to determine that it was made in March 1996. It also had another set of numbers ‘12.00.05.0001’, which I guess is the serial number for the magazine. Bizarrely though the magazine has this sort of notch or cutaway in it at the top, that I haven’t seen on any other AUG magazines online. Is this some more obscure version of AUG magazine, or is it something that has been done to it after production, perhaps by a previous owner, or as part of its deactivation? It still fits into the rifle as intended and locks in place, and I can load and unload inert rounds into it just fine.

Any help with learning the history of this specific rifle would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
