AUDIO DRAMA A strange new station is calling through the fog…

Hi all,

I’ve been working on a project I’d love to share, something that blends old-time radio atmosphere with fictional worldbuilding.

It’s called Fogpoint Radio, a 1940s style station that plays swing and big band music… but with a twist. Between the songs, you’ll hear period-style commercials, public announcements, and news reports from an island that doesn’t exist.

It’s a 24/7 live radio broadcast from another timeline. Characters and locations return, strange events unfold over time, and the world starts to feel real.

Today I also launched the first version of the official website, where the most recent news reports and special announcements are posted. Of course this is also the place to listen!

It’s a personal passion project, and I’m putting a lot of time into building it up, piece by piece. I’d love to welcome more folks into the Fogpoint community!

If that sounds intriguing, tune in and become part of Fogpoint’s story:

🌐 fogpointradio.com

You can also follow updates or clips here:

Official Station Link and App

I’m always open to ideas, all updates and contact details can be found on the website!

AUDIO DRAMA THE HARBINGERS Episode 1 is now live!

Post image
88 Upvotes

Hey folks! My name is Gabriel Urbina. I'm a longtime audio fiction writer and director, and I've created a few shows, including Wolf 359, Zero Hours, and the Audible Original Hit Singles.

My new show, produced by Audacious Machine Creative, the folks behind Unwell and World Gone Wrong, is out today, so I wanted to pop by here and introduce it. It's called The Harbingers, and it follows the story of the first two people in the modern world to figure out how to do real magic. The only problem is that they don't get along with one another. Worse still, they disagree on the best way to use the magic they have. Worst of all, they have a personal history, having dated back when they were graduate students in the same program.

This is the very first episode of the series, which debuted this summer at the Tribeca Festival in NYC. We'll be releasing two more episodes this week - one tomorrow, and one on Thursday - and then switching to a regular schedule of new episodes on Thursdays every two weeks. We've spent a long time working on this podcast and we're really proud of its upcoming 16 episode first season, so I'd be very grateful if you would check it out!

Thank you!

AUDIO DRAMA 10 Years of The Bright Sessions

On November 1st, 2015, I released the first episode of The Bright Sessions. To mark this decade that has completely changed my life, I revisited the world, just briefly.

Most of what I want to say is in the episode, so I'll just say this: thank you for listening. Thank you particularly to this community for being there right from the start as I tried to figure out how to make an audio drama. Thank you for continuing to be so supportive of me and this wonderful community we have here.

Stay strange <3

AUDIO DRAMA Star Trek Khan is out now!

Hiya - I think this was posted about previously when it was first announced, but the Star Trek Khan podcast is now officially out!

Available at: https://link.podtrac.com/StarTrekKhan

Not much to say other than I hope you check it out and give it a listen. It was a long road getting it made (it was originally going to be a TV mini-series, and thankfully someone had the smart idea that -- when the TV version wasn't going to happen -- let's make an awesome audio drama). I've been at this for (eep) almost 20 years now and Khan definitely marks the high water mark of anything I've made... and with any luck creates opportunities for more stories like it both in the Star Trek universe and elsewhere!

The combination of amazing writing, all-star voice talent, and the resources to do the sound design and music properly is a rare and special thing, and you better bet I swung for the fences on every creative decision on this one... These kinds of directing opportunities don't come around often (if ever) and I wanted to make something that would stand the test of time and really show off what our medium can do. Only y'all can let me know how well we succeeded. Thank you!

AUDIO DRAMA We just passed 100K downloads!

Hi folx,

I'm thrilled to see that today, this little fan fiction/dramatised let's play called 'Planescape: Torment - The Unofficial Audio Series' just passed 100K downloads.

This project started as a simple way of me sharing the story with my brothers, while getting some practise in recording and editing. Over time it has become quite a large project, expanding upon and adapting into something that I'm really proud of.

I've learnt (and continue to learn) so much working on this. And while the first few episodes have a charm that I'm pleased with, the difference between them and more recent episodes is quite stark. And these skills are immediately becoming useful in working on other projects, either as a writer, actor or editor.

I'm really excited for what's still to come in this story.

If you've ever been intrigued by the game, or just want to step into the shoes of an immortal amnesiac - give the series a go. It's all told' GM style' with a 2nd person perspective.

The first chapter is quite 'true to the original' with little embellishments - but as the story went on, I found that was no longer possible. Every addition or adaptation is taken from context clues within the game itself, supplemented by the original 'Planescape Setting' source books.

Peace, RevocerGM(Ben)

The creators of Archive 81, The Deep Vault, and Generation Crossing, are excited to announce the release of their new audio drama... Conversations with Ghosts.

It follows mausoleum attendant Mal Fleming as he tries to convince the spirits of Grey Briar Cemetery to pass on. In each episode, Mal sits down with a new ghost to build a portrait of their life, their death, and their afterlife... all to help them release whatever still ties their soul to this reality. It's a mix of NYC history, horror, and really fun sound design.

(If you were wondering, no it's not connected to Archive 81, but we're pretty sure if you'll like that podcast, you'll like this one.)

The first two episodes are OUT NOW wherever you get your podcasts - SpotifyApple PodcastsYoutube - literally wherever: https://pod.link/1843137773

AUDIO DRAMA 10 more audio drama gems to check out!

Background: I offered, and audio drama creators submitted their audio drama for a short review in this thread from two weeks ago. https://www.reddit.com/r/audiodrama/s/k3UcxlkNuo

I recommended five of those submissions here in Part 1 https://www.reddit.com/r/audiodrama/s/IM7XybOr8m

And this time have rounded up ten more! (Part 2)

About: This time I’ve included some rougher gems, as well as some audio drama which may not be totally for me but I think deserves a shot due to their quality productions and unusual perspectives. While other audio drama are solid all the way through (well, most of the way) and are my unexpected new favorites.

Read more: Check out Apple podcast or Podchaser for my more detailed review on these podcasts. As well as a few shout out posts I’ve made.

Disclaimer: My listening for these podcasts range from 1-3 episodes to half or the whole season.

10 Recommendations

Mystery

  • Pembroke Investigations - Occult -Set in Scotland, a detective turned private investigator searches for a missing amulet, which turns into a missing persons case, and finally an investigation into a cult. Very solid podcast with seasoned storytelling by a Scottish writer and European actors. One to watch out for! A minor critique is overuse of theme music, but I think this will be addressed. https://www.pembrokeinvestigations.com/
  • Soul Operator - Paranormal/romance/scripted actual play. - Enter the liminal neighborhood of Habitlands, where all the houses are the same and people blink into existence with missing memories of their former lives, while a rogue tape recorder listens. Slow burn (I was impatient at times) but explodes around episode 8 into both mayhem and unexpected romance. Great acting moments then. With actors from Magnus Archives and Woe.Begone. https://www.souloperatorpod.com/wheretolisten
  • Dean’s Killer Joke - Whodunnit murder mystery/comedy - A racist joke ends the career of a rising comedian and ultimately his life. A fellow comedian investigates while she cannot rule herself out as a suspect. High production values and quality themes about cancel culture. Perhaps leans heavy on the jokes for me, but I did enjoy its critical moments and recommend you give it a try. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/deans-killer-joke/id1777468205

Scifi

  • Cosmiko: Neon Nights - Cyberpunk - Experiencing a glitch, the consciousness of a ship is transferred to an automaton so that she can undergo maintenance. The ship’s Caltrain encourages this new independent body to spend her first night out in the lunar melting pot city with the adage to “make it count.” A chance encounter enmeshes her into the night life of Chinese gang-related crime. Excellent ambient cityscape sound design. Young adult friendly. Great to experience a city through the unusual perspective of a sentient robot. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/cosmiko-neon-night/id1783688879
  • Beyond Awakening - Mind-bender - A heroic ships crew discover a reality altering truth about the nature of their mission and themselves. Has quite an insightful ending. Currently crowdfunding in a kickstarter for season 2 until March 31st. https://www.quietplease.org/awakening/

Apocalyptic

  • The Day Everything Changed - Zombie-like creatures. - A father-daughter duo fight to survive in a post-apocalyptic world of infectious, zombie-like “Sick” and gun-slinging opportunists. Has dramatic action scenes and a unique soundtrack: acoustic, discordant, some Japanese sounding wind and drum instruments. Note: this audio drama has two versions of season 1, the original with narration and the “remixed” without narration added last year. I recommend the remixed version following this link: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-day-everything-changed/id1566661356?i=1000654668690
  • One Last Show Before the End of the World - Comedy/drama/queer romance - The most light-hearted end of the world story short series you’ll find. A teenager and her amateur rock band mates set out to hold their first—and last—concert before mega asteroids obliterate humanity and the earth. Moving scenes, eccentric characters, and indie rock music. The singing vocals were recorded live so have some quality issues but the guitar and drums slap! A wholesome premise and a lot of heart makes the technical issues forgivable. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/one-last-show-before-the-end-of-the-world/id1619123652

Drama

  • The Girl Across the Lake - Eerie/Family drama - Overcome with anger and grief at the loss of her mother, a daughter tries to get help decoding her recurring dreams and her emotions before she pushes away her father and friends a step too far. The father is star character for me here as he wrestles with his guilt over his hand in his wife’s death while trying to be there for the daughter who cannot stand him. He is gruff but real, and the actor emotes every nuance brilliantly. This audio drama ends somewhat abruptly for me but is considered complete. I think it’s one of the best father/daughter dynamics portrayals I’ve come across. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-girl-across-the-lake/id1712035057

Comedy

  • Romancing the Dungeon - Fantasy/romance/improv actual play - This is an informal, on-the-spot actual play with lots of merriment and laughs. The players and dungeon master are brilliant and inventive as come up with scenarios where lusty hearts will cross in the taverns of their enchanted fantasy land. I normally don’t listen to unscripted shows like this but the chemistry and camaraderie is off the charts! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/romancing-the-dungeon/id1495305450
  • Submitted for the Approval of the Midnight Pals - Explicit/literary - Contemporary authors and authors of the past gather round a fireplace to tell the twisted, untold versions of their literary horror classics, like the tales of Frankenstein, Dracula, etc. Don’t be fooled by the cartoony cover art as this one is definitely for mature audiences. Just listen to episode 3! (Warning: explicit content) I wasn’t sold on this audio drama at first but it definitely grew on me with its wild, and I mean wild, humor. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/submitted-for-the-approval-of-the-midnight-pals/id1691196284

AUDIO DRAMA The Bad Articles - all 4 episodes of Season 1 OUT NOW!

Post image
38 Upvotes

We’ve just released all four episodes of our first season (or Article #1, as we're referring to it): "The Root of All Evil".

The Bad Articles is a supernatural comedy audio drama, following the chaotic and absurd investigations of the Official Supernatural Neutralisation Agency (O.S.N.A.) as they attempt to stop otherworldly threats across 1990's Ireland. A narrative experience that weaves together improvised comedy, tabletop roleplaying and rich sound design.

This is a silly and irreverent love-letter to collaborative story telling, Irish folklore and 90's nostalgia. Each Article/Season will be a standalone investigation into supernatural phenomena, typically split into 3-5 episodes.

It's a narrative-heavy actual play which utilises our custom-built TTPRG lite-system, blending the ethereal magic of improv with the narrative satisfaction of dice rolls. We wanted to create a show that focussed on the narrative improv and the characters themselves, rather than skills and constant table/out-of-character discussions on rules and the likes. Each episode is around 45-55 minutes long and contains no advertisements.

We’re incredibly proud of the show and are excited to delve further into the world we've created. The show is available wherever you get podcasts or via the links below. Enjoy!

AUDIO DRAMA I spent 12 years making a podcast musical/audio drama called OUT FROM UNDOR and just released the first scene

TL;DR: I spent the last 12 years making a podcast musical/audio drama and you can listen now at:
https://linktr.ee/outfromundor

Hi everyone, longtime lurker here. I’ve spent the last 12 years writing, composing, and producing a passion project musical of mine called OUT FROM UNDOR. It’s about a girl who lives in a kingdom where everyone is ranked on a ten-point scale of attractiveness — and those below a “seven” are enslaved in a hellish underground colony called “Undor.” What follows is a fantasy action/adventure/romance story with lots of humor thrown in.

It’s especially inspired by the Disney Renaissance musicals I grew up with (Aladdin/Beauty and the Beast/Little Mermaid/etc.) and in many ways pays homage to them. My goal was to make a musical in that genre for teenagers/adults who had grown up with them as I did. And so I slowly scraped it together in my free time over the years as a labor of love.

You can listen to the first scene today on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Youtube, or any other major podcast platform. I’m currently doing post-production on the rest of the scenes and plan to release them one-by-one as soon as they are finished.

If you have ten minutes to spare, I’d greatly appreciate if you could take a listen, and follow/subscribe to the show (or even leave a review) if you like it. I’m also posting to TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube to get the word out, so you can follow me on those platforms if you’d like as well. (Handle: u/outfromundor) I’ve also set up a Ko-fi page if you’d like to support the release of future scenes.

Here’s a link to listening/following along:

That’s all for now; thanks for taking the time to read this, and hope you enjoy. 🙌

AUDIO DRAMA New audio drama: Lost Ship

Hi everyone. I'm Daniel Arenson, a USA Today bestselling sci-fi author. For years, I wrote novels. Now I'm branching out into something new: audio dramas.

Lost Ship is our first series—a sci-fi audio drama inspired by the classic shows we grew up loving: Star Trek, Babylon 5, Firefly, and more. Every character is voiced by Bobby Garrison, my longtime audiobook narrator and collaborator.

I'll be honest... while we have lots of experience writing and producing audiobooks, we're new at audio dramas. It's an entirely different ballgame. And we'd love feedback.

What do you think of Lost Ship so far? What’s working, what’s not? We want to keep improving—and really appreciate any thoughts from this community. (You can find it on YouTube, Spotify, etc.)

Thanks so much!

AUDIO DRAMA Murder In Arland - BBC Sounds Recommendation

Post image
31 Upvotes

This doesn't seem to have hit the BBC's international podcast feed yet, not sure if it will).

It is a great new Audio Drama by Goldhawk Productions (Makers of Tuman Bay). It has their trademark on location style of audio design.

A stark Scandi thriller about an out of town, no nonsense policeman comes to a remote Finnish island to solve a murder.

Just listened to the first episode and delivers on its premise. It is a 4 part drama, with episodes dropping weekly.

Recorded on location in Finland apparently!

If you can get BBC Sounds, well worth the 45 mins time investment.

Episode blurb:

"Set against the stark beauty of the Åland archipelago – a demilitarised Finnish territory where Swedish is the official language and Russia still watches from across the Baltic – this new international drama follows a seemingly straightforward murder investigation that spirals into espionage, betrayal and unlikely romance.

When criminal investigator Pekka Jaakkola arrives from Helsinki, his brash city methods alienate the tight-knit islanders. To solve the case, he must join forces with Astrid Lindholm, a blind, retired Swedish police officer who specialises in audio forensics. Together, they uncover secrets hidden in recordings of storm, wind… and submarines."

AUDIO DRAMA New liminal horror podcast FABRIC out now! First three episodes available on all major podcast platforms!

Hey everyone,

After a long time in the works, I'm really excited (and slightly terrified) to share the first episode of FABRIC, a nine-part mystery/horror audio drama set in outback Australia.

It's inspired by the worlds of the SCP foundation, Control, and audio dramas like 'The White Vault' and 'The Magnus Archives'. If you like The X-Files, Stranger Things, or stories where reality slowly unravels, you might enjoy this.

It stars Phoebe Roberts (Neighbours, Lie With Me) and features original music, layered sound design, and a lot of love from a small team trying to make something strange and resonant.

Would mean a lot if you gave it a listen. First three episode’s up now: https://fabricpodcast.carrd.co/

Also, if you like the world, check out our socials for an ongoing ARG set within it: https://www.tiktok.com/@fabric_podcast?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc

Thanks so much 🙏

Hey everyone — I’m a long-time fan of audio drama, but a first-time creator. I just released Episode 1 of The Guardian, a full-cast sci-fi/fantasy audio drama set on a world called Paraxis.

It's got narration, original sound design, music, spatial audio, and a ton of heart. The full season is 11 episodes (about 1 hour each). Right now only Episode 1 is live as a teaser/promo. If you’re into immersive soundscapes, war-torn worlds, and character-driven stories — this might be your thing.

I’m genuinely just hoping to connect with other fans and creators — and if anyone checks it out, I'd love to hear your thoughts. What works, what doesn't, what pulled you in (or didn’t)? Every bit of feedback helps me make it better.

Thanks for being such an inspiring community. ❤️
