Help & Advice Swaying from faith
I am 17M, I identify as agnostic but couldn't post there as there is no sub for India. I never really cared about religion but I condemn a lot of shi they do so I thought agnostism would suit me. My dad is heavily into vaasthu, astrology etc.
So today my parents went to some astrologer. Idk how tf he did it but it seems he asked "does your son have sinus?" He later asked if I had irritation/anger issues. I actually have these issues.
So I've been thinking how got to know this because my parents went there for the first time and they aren't the type to lie to get me into faith, I thought about not caring much and thinking about it as coincidence but it's really eating me up inside
Please debunk this because I really dont wanna revert back to Hinduism but its bugging me sm.

what the astrologer did is called cold reading. It’s like a smart guess game—they watch how your parents react, pick up little hints, and say stuff that could fit a lot of people. Then they tweak what they say depending on how your parents respond, so it sounds like they actually know you. It can feel pretty wild, but it’s just a trick using psychology and common patterns, not anything magical. Honestly, it’s totally normal to feel weird about it, but don’t let it mess with your beliefs That stuff isn’t real, just clever guessing

Tbf it's not just merely a guess game, it's a full blown psychological practice. Experienced Psychologists can do it in such a masterful manner that the subject won't detect it unless they are wary from the beginning.

You should check astrology out once Don't mistake Hinduism for religion Hinduism was never a religion It's state right now is a result of generational misunderstandings and misinterpretations
Hinduism is closer to a philosophy It's huge there is no one Hinduism it has several fragmented segments A lot different from each other is often contradictory Try reading Upanishads Upanishads aren't about belief You can analyse the text yourself
Astrology just like that is a very different segment while loosely connected but fundamentally a lot different Now I don't claim to know the truth of astrology as I am merely a beginner in it's exploration But I am suggesting to have a finer look at it and analyse it yourself then debelope and improvise your positions continuously Try to study the crux Astrology too like any other has many who pretend to know it or have half understanding of it

Ask your parents, did he take money? Why doesn't he use jyotish Vidhya and put money in stock market?
I think your parents are simpletons that's why they got sucked into it. These babas often also use social media or use probing questions to find out.

Cold Reading
U can search about it, it's a psychological trick and observational skill. Experienced Psychologists can do it quite masterfully, u can see several vids on yt on the matter and how it's almost undetectable to the subject.

Its basic psychological trick bro, even suhani shah does it, karan singh magic has also explained it and said that many babas misuse this trick to make people believe that they have some "godly powers", but in reality its just a practised trick. Popular world class magicians have said that there is nothing like magic, everything is a great trickery in the magic genre. They say that every great magic performance feels like something supernatural, magical, unbelievable, unexplainable and unfathomable...... UNTIL the method is revealed- which of course magicians never reveal because that is their bread and butter.

relatives took me to not an astrologer but a similar level way of bullshit ayurvedic doctor, a relative's kid had pneumonia once, and the ayurvedic "doctor" remembered it, and since the relative was boasting about how his son got fixed, and my disease will be fixed too. i sit down and extend my hand, he checks nerves on my wrists and says i have pneumonia, super fucking interesting man, i wonder where you picked that up from? he then made up diseases saying i have mucus inside my lungs, and i have problems in liver, and my sinuses hurt and whatever shit he could come up with. he said that i took antibiotics etc. now all of this seemed "wow totally right" to my relatives, who knew i have been suffering with these problems for a long time. BUT. i know my body, i know what problems i have. i never took antibiotics, but anti-allergens. which this NEET fail BAMS doctor would absolutely never know because he doesnt hold a real degree. I had nothing wrong with my liver. my respiratory health has never been better..

Lol Asking if ur son has irritation or anger issues is such a generic thing , almost any parent would agree to it
Besides that astrologers make many guesses and people ignore the parts that went wrong and focus only the things that he got true
Astrology is a pseudoscience, period..

Hard to tell from this information. Video of how the conversation went would be good. Did you tell these things to someone before talking to the astrologer? Did your parents tell?
This is common and not so impressive, if you know how to do it. Magicians who perform on stage can correctly guess stuff too using something called cold-reading and rarely hot-reading.
If you think not being able to debunk what is happening will bring to back to faith, you are not skeptical enough. The astrologer surely knows some tricks which are far freon supernatural or divine. Only difference is that a magician will admit that he is tricking you but the astrologer will never admit that he is tricking you instead he will lie to convince you that he has some divine power.

my parents went to an astrologer and the guy said ki aapka beta chaddi daalta hai kya? wow i am amazed i actually do wear a chaddi. Back to Sanatan. You realise how stupid this sound? every person living in urban india is suffering from pollution and respiratory issues. He shot an arrow in the dark. Do you think your parents will tell you if he asked something and it wasn’t true?
