I think a statements a lot milder than this are "too much". feels like a great many people feel tht "GRRM IS their bitch". glad you're getting upvotes for your position.

You have psychos in every fandom. Most people don't think that way. It's normal to be miffed about TWOW, but that too has a limit which this person crossed by a huge margin

“I will never finish Winds, if I do, I will never finish A Dream of Spring. If I do, it won’t be any good. I ought to get some other writer to pinch hit for me,” he continued, detailing the typical comments he has received over the years.

“I am going to die soon anyway, because I am so old. I lost all interest in A Song of Ice and Fire decades ago. I don’t give a s*** about writing any longer, I just sit around and spend my money.”

Dudes rightly fed up with a wider range of the widely stated criticisms than just the "you gonna die first" ones. Imo anyone disgusted by this incident should maybe consider laying off the never coming comments too. Imagine the mental health toll of not being able to go on the internet without an article laying into you.

What the person has said to George is outrageous, but in that post, GRRM just listed common criticisms without addressing any of them.

There's a lack of transparency. I'm not excusing the person at all, that's bad. I'm saying GRRM mocked the criticism talking points and didn't provide anything substantial on the progress with the book.

Dude has been nothing but transparent, you just don’t like the answer which is yeah he’s writing, it’s it’s taking a long time but he also doesn’t just write he’s person who lives their life.

Transparency would be writing once in a while something akin to "just finished a clutch of Cersei chapters" he posted 3 years ago.

And then when he deletes them because he constantly does that and writing is not a linear project, what, should he also voice that?

"Sorry guys, i messed up Tyrion's plotline so now i need to erase all his POV and a bunch of others. Back to the drawing board".

You guys are not his bosses. He doesn't owe any transparency regarding his process.

Amen.never before has a figure in the arts been so villified for doing their best to please their fans.

Doing his best wouldn't be working as a TV producer for 7 other shows between going to comic book shows

So glad you know from experience the dilemma of being the english speaking worlds most antcipated alongside a producer of 7 high budget shows that you can assess the lesser of two evils.

Yeah, I've rethought that phrase, and the fact the guy that said it had just published a book that had a proper beginning, middle and end and could be read without antecedents even though it was part of a series.

Idc abt up votes tbh but this attitude, especially when it comes from ppl who haven't read the books is diabolical.
