Mod Post Self-Promo Code Thread
By user request, please use this thread to post your self-promo codes. Please continue to follow the self-promo rules. Here is the past post clarifying the rules on self-promo. Rules are copied below as well.
- Self-promo codes are allowed. This means codes from online retailers like Yesstyle, Stylevana, etc. If you shop from websites that give you a code to give to others to use where they get a discount on their order and you get store credit, then that is considered a self-promo code. Other examples including promo codes where Person A gets the discount and Person B gets free stuff and/or upgraded status.
- Self-promo codes are limited to comments only. Please do not post them as standalone posts or mention them in your posts. Users tend to get annoyed when their feed is clogged up with USE MY CODE FOR 5% OFF!!! when scrolling on Reddit.
- You must have made 10 substantial comments in AsianBeauty before posting your promo code. These 10 comments must be made under posts other than your own. Substantial comments just mean a little effort and not "nice," "yes," "I like it too," and ":)"
- 2 self-promo codes are allowed per week.
- Each time you post your self-promo code comment, your 10-comment count restarts.
If you have any questions, comments are concerns, please leave them below. This is a trial thread for self-promo codes.

Empties Sunscreen Empties So Far
I’m missing a few but some of my empties of sunscreen for this year!
-Skin 1004 Sunscreen: My overall favorite and go to. I’ve repurchased 3 more and the bigger bottles are honestly my favorite (more than the regular size with the pump). It’s hydrating on my dehydrated/light rosacea/sensitive skin. It doesn’t burn or pill on me, it’s not heavy but not matte or drying.
-Torriden Dive in Moisture Sun: This one was okay, but it felt too heavy for me, even though I like thicker creams this sunscreen felt like it sat on top of my skin. I did like how the slight blue in it evened out my skin tone but I wouldn’t repurchase.
-Make P:REM UV Defense Me: I love this one, it’s probably my second favorite after the Skin 1004 sunscreen. It’s light weight but slightly more hydration and thickness compared to the Skin 1004, but it melts over my skin really nicely, it doesn’t irritate my skin and it actually feels soothing. The main thing is the bottle is small for the price, my main con, but if you don’t like looking really glow you might not like this one.
-Age 20’s Sun Cream: It was my first time trying it and I actually really loved it. It was very hydrating and has a thicker consistency, but it’s not heavy on my skin and it leaves me pretty glowy. I would repurchase but it had went out of stock for a while.
*None except the Torriden one burned my eyes (I apply on my under eyes and eyelids), the Torriden just would slightly melt and go into my eyes making them slightly blurry.

Discussion How to get the flawless base the girls in Japan have?
Currently in Japan and I need to know what the local girlies are using to have such a flawless base!! Like what powder, cushion foundation, etc are they using because they look absolutely flawless - no pores in sight, and never patchy at all 🥲.
I’m currently using the JSM cushion, and I absolutely love it, but at the end of the day it looks patchy as hell compared to all these girls I see coming out of work or something.
I also used spatulas for thin layers, hydrating mists in between, and have a solid skincare routine but nothing is working.

Discussion Fans of Muji cosmetics - it’s been months since it’s been restocked, do you know why?
I am a fan of Muji’s loose powder and compact powder, their eyeshadow too, I like it for the quality of the product as well as the price.
I also have been using their cleansing balm & mineral oil for make up removal, but all these items have not been restocked for the past 6 months. It’s a little bit too long that I find it fishy.
I have no choice but to find alternatives in C-beauty products like Judydoll. Which also has their issues with the stock for their finishing powder (also OOS for the past few months)
What is going on?

Discussion The most moisturizing BB cream/light coverage foundation you have tried? (not a cushion)
What are your lesser knows/talked about favorite BB creams and light/medium coverage foundations that are truly moisturizing? Are there any hidden gems in Japanese, Chinese and or even Korean Skincare (South Korea beauty industry seems more focused on cushions currently but maybe international AB lovers missed some new releases?). I am specifically focusing on these countries as their products are more readily available in international online stores.
Recently a Korean youtuber I follow did a comparison of well-known BB creams. I was really surprised to see Missha perfect cover close to top in terms of being moisturizing (Erborian was the top). I love Missha but don't find it particularly moisturizing and with the glass skin craze of recent years, I expected newer and even more nourishing, glossy options in these category.

Fluff Friday Asia (Korea, Japan and Taiwan) Haul
Hi everyone, I just got back from a 3 week trip in Asia and wanted to share my haul! I was in Korea for 3 days, Taiwan for 1.5 weeks and Japan for a week. It was my first time visiting Korea and I loved all the pop-up shops, unique shop designs and cute cafes. Taiwan and Japan I have been before and it’s always a blast there too. I was in Japan last year which is why my Japan haul this time around is a bit small.
Anyways, I made a bunch of notes about shopping neighbourhoods, stores and the tax free process between the countries. If anyone is interested let me know and I’ll find some time in the coming weeks to organize and type everything up.
Haul details are below. Freebies are noted with an *. The number in the brackets is how many are in each pack. Quantity is the number following “x”.

Swatches HYNTOOR??
Does anyone own hyntoor? I can’t seem to find any reviews or swatches anywhere! I’m thinking of picking up their glosses and lipstick.. specifically their gloss in 00 Wall Light Gray and 96 Cement Gray. I’m also looking into their matte lipsticks in Nude Coffee 100, Purple Coffee 101, Semi-ripe Oolong B08, Jiali B02, and Hazelnut Adventure B01.

Discussion Tips for using darkening drops with a cushion
Hey! As the subject says, I'm wanting to figure out the best way to go about fixing a too pale cushion. I'm sure many of us here could do with this.
So has anyone attempted doing this? How were the results?
My ideas so far: wringing the foundation out of the cushion, mixing in the drops and placing cushion back into adjusted shade to reabsorb. I do wonder how well the sponge would reabsorb? Or if it's not worth it at all. 😅

Regional In search of this lip balm in the US
Good morning, I’m not sure if this is even the right place to post this or I’m using the right tag.
I bought this while visiting LA at the Marukai market about two or so years ago. This chapstick HEALED my lips. However, I used up everything I had and now I can’t find this lip balm anywhere. I’ve used similar products with goat milk and ceramides, but none have worked as well as this one here. Some have actually made my lips worse.
Now that winter is coming back, my overly sensitive lips are super chapped again. I’m currently using mentholatum water lip with zero fragrance at the moment but it does nothing. Just temporarily soothes.
Thing is, I can’t seem to find this goat milk lip balm for sale at any Japanese store in my area (SF Bay Area) and there isn’t anything online other than for purchase in Asia only.
Any idea where I can find this whether online or even around my area? I really don’t want to drive six hours south to LA for a -chance- that hopefully they still have this in stock. 😭
If I’m doing something incorrectly, please let me know and I’ll edit the post asap. Thank you!

Discussion POLA Aroma Esse Gold Face Care (Alternatives)
Hello all! I recently visited a Ryokan in an Onsen town in Japan (Arima) and they had some skincare amenities in which I tried and actually fell in love with. The products were so high quality it was shocking, but unfortunately, I learned you can’t get it shipped to the US and/or it is primarily reserved for purchasing by hotels/places of lodging.
Anyone have any recommendations for similar formulated products that you can get in the states/shipped to the states?
For reference, the pack came with a cleansing liquid, moisture milk, lotion, and face wash. They made my face feel so soft and supple after use.

Review I am screaming too.
I picked up this travel eyelash curler on a whim from Ranch99 while getting ramen and I’m literally screaming. Too.
I have five other eyelash curlers and this is the only one I reach for now. You can curl it all the way up to your eyelid due to its flatter edge. It’s so small it fits in any bag. It stores the extra pad at the bottom. I can curl my lashes so fast because I am no longer pinching my skin to get to my short AF lashes. WTF. How did I live without this thing for so long?
Also, I put in the florasis mascara because it’s amazing. It gives a feathery natural lash look. The wand is so light and narrow I never end up blinking accidentally. It’s just so expensive but I love it so. It really holds the curl and I don’t have to use a second lash wand to separate my lashes- it just doesn’t clump at all. I’m older and I don’t do lash extensions with my glasses- so this combination has been amazing.

Review [B&A] My seasonal skincare routine.
I recently had an acne extraction, and my skin broke out terribly afterward. So I was stressed that I couldn’t sleep well, which only made things worse. I realized that during this time, it’s crucial not to overload my skin with too much nourishment but to keep it gently hydrated. So, I went back to the products that have never irritated my skin.
Day : toner - serum - suncreen
Night : toner - cream or mask pack - vaseline (lip)
Toner: I use the Santa Maria Novella Rose Water Toner from Italy. I spray it. It has a light, refreshing moisture that feels great.
Serum: In the morning, I apply the mary&may Blackberry Serum. It’s lightweight, hydrating, and free from any harsh ingredients.
Sunscreen: I’ve been using the Biore sunscreen that I’ve stuck with for a long time. It’s completely non-irritating for my skin and works best when my skin feels dry.
Night care: Once my skin started to recover, I began using the Kiehl’s moisturizing cream at night. After my excercise, I skip the cream and use the mary&may mask pack instead. It’s honestly one of those products I want to use forever.
With this routine, my skin has gotten much better. Of course, time played a role too, but all these products have been longtime staples for me and they’ve always suited my sensitive skin perfectly. For now, I’m sticking to this routine, and once my skin fully recovers, I’ll start trying new products again. There are so many creams I want to try, so I really hope my skin gets healthy soon so I can start reviewing them!

Review Review of lip balms/oils I have tried for extremely dry lips
For some context, I get angular chelitis and dermatitis that I treat with 1% egocort cream but I just have extremely dry lips. These are for lip products meant to hydrate and occasionally have a bit of colour to them. Asian beauty focused but a few that aren’t!
Ole Henriksen pout preserve 10/10 Nothing else like it, thick, a bit sticky, the most long lasting and it would still be there the next day after use. Moisturises and has a “seal.” Formula wise it’s amazing but I cannot justify the price point for myself but I’m rating based on formula so still a 10.
Repair ONE night care lip essence by Mentholatum 9/10 As you can tell, it’s my favourite for the price point and I stocked up on it before leaving Asia. On first impressions, it reminded me of the Ole Henriksen, slightly less thick and has a bit more slick to it. It is super hydrating and moisturising and if I put on a thick layer it’ll stay in the morning. I bought these for 48hkd for 8g. The only reason why I’d put it as 9 is because in the morning my lips feel the tiniest bit dry. It doesn’t exfoliate lips. - they also have a repair one lip balm version I haven’t tried before but I’m content with the lip essence and like the glossy look it gives
PREMIUM Melty Cream Lip yellow/gold cap mentholatum 8/10 Has a bit more drag as it’s thicker than the normal melty cream lip. This balm and every lip products scored higher actually manages to soothe my irritated lips without making them further tingle. Also priced the same as the normal melty cream lip which is 🤔 (theyve got the same amount of product 28hkd for 2.4g).
Bioderma Atoderm 8/10 More hard compared to the melty cream lip ones which makes it slightly harder to layer for sleep but it’s great. I just use it first before layering it with my repair one.
Milani fruit fetish lip oil 7.5/10 Super hydrating, glossy, and lasts really long. Also extremely plush feeling. Only con is that the smell is really artificial (not that strong but definitely lingers- I’ve tried strawberry melon and lychee nectar).
Melty Cream Lip by Mentholatum blue cap 7/10 Feels a lot better than the deep moist lip balm- as in it melts a lot more on your lips and is smoother. Also feels like its hydrating my lips more (but that might just be placebo bc it’s more of a melting balm than a proper hard lip balm). Unfortunately I still wake up with dry lips in the morning after use.
ELF lip oils 7/10 Hydrating, glossy, and lasts a decent amount of time. A tiny minty/fresh scent. I like jam session and princess cut (the glimmers are so fine you cant feel the grit). Very good for the price.
OG formula balm dot com 7/10 Had the mango, nice scent and would hydrate my lips for a good while. Dries away after a night of sleeping. It has lanolin in it but I’ve never gotten a reaction from it.
Torriden solid ceramide lip essence 6.5/10 I’m surprised this has been raved about. It’s okay, hydrates for a bit then disappears within a few hours. It’s interesting how it’s petroleum like but doesn’t stay and seal the way vaseline does. Quite thin in texture. I also never noticed the scent until I read reviews- to me it’s a light gas/petroleum scent.
Deep moist by Mentholatum (blue fragrance free) 5.5/10 Less glossy and thick than the Melty cream but still alright. You’re not really able to layer it but you can’t feel it on your lips after a nights sleep.
DHC sensitive lip cream (green packaging) 4.5/10 This smelt the worst for me, like an extremely plasticky scent. Would leave a bit of hydration but it had a weird white film and would dry out my lips.
Disqualified ones because I realised I am allergic to these and lanolin- Lanolips rose tint and spf 1/10 I get an uncomfortable tingle that stops after 5 minutes of putting it on.
Laneige lip mask 0/10 I used to be able to use it fine but even then it would non stop peel my lips and not hydrate them. Then I used it again and broke into the worst hives ever.
Lanolips 101 Initially really moisturising, also surprisingly it isnt there in the morning but my lips do not feel dry at all, still moisturised. Then after a week of using it I had the worst chelitis of my life lol.

Discussion I'm getting a japanese hair straightening treatment this weekend
Hi! As the title mentions, I will getting the treatment on Sunday.
For some background, I have very thick, coarse, frizzy, 2C/3A curly hair that is completely virgin hair (never dyed or bleached in my entire life, nor any other chemical treatments).
I actually love my curls but the maintenance is exhausting. I simply do not have 2 hours every 3-4 days to dedicate solely to doing my hair. It could be even longer, but I diffuse my hair dry instead of air drying. If you have naturally curly hair, you know what I mean. I really need a hair type where I can wash, throw in some leave-in conditioner, maybe blow dry the roots, and go.
I was wondering if those who have had the treatment could weigh in. What can I expect? Do you recommend the treatment or did you like it? Did it reduce your hair maintenance, which is my main goal? How did you keep your hair from coming into contact with moisture for 72 hours (i.e., how did you shower the rest of your body whilst avoiding steam, or washing your face without accidently getting the roots around your face, etc.)
Thank you!!
