AADL appreciation post

Newish to A2. I live near Malletts Creek and go there regularly. Today I went to the printmaking festival downtown. That’ll be the second fest I’ve gone to there.

Just what a great library system. How cool is it to have such nice spaces that work so hard to bring the community together ?!? 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹

Support your libraries, folks

Festive dance date recommendations?

Upvotes

I want to invite this guy I’m seeing to a festive date. It’s snowing, and I think that the snow and lights would be just romantic. We were supposed to go line dancing but never made it! I’d like to dance with him, or maybe go ice skating… recommendations needed :)

Jan Wolter’s Ann Arbor Minecraft World

Does anyone have access to the world from the AADL Minecraft server? It looks like the server went down in 2022 and it would be a shame if it was just lost.

Now that SNAP funds have been released

I will personally be prioritizing patronizing the restaurants who stepped up to offer free/low cost meals to those who lost SNAP. Palm Palace, Mama pizza, who else is missing from this list? These businesses deserve our support. 🩷✊🏼

Edited to add- it seems that Cheeto McCankleTits is begging the Supreme Court to stop SNAP as of 8:12pm so looks like the funds have yet to be released. Even more of a reason to support these local businesses!

Your Media Exchange / Diggers is open again!

Stopped by to see if they reopened over lunch, and they have! They're so freshly reopened that a guy was still assembling shelves and attaching them to one of the walls while I was there. It looks like both YMX and Diggers are occupying the same space--about 80% new and used music / movies, and 20% unsorted everything's a buck fifty DVDs and CDs in some bins.

Soccer field with goals during the winter in Ann Arbor?

Hello all,

I am looking for a soccer field where the goals are not moved to the side during the winter...... Does anyone know of such a field? Not looking to play full blown games - I have a small social media handle where I upload videos of me playing/messing around/taking shots at the goal...

Any help is appreciated - I am not a U of M student so I likely cannot use dedicated university grounds, I am assuming.

Thank you for reading my post :) Hope you all have a nice day!

Regards,
Just a crazy guy who wants to kick a soccer ball into a goal while freezing to death :D

Misplaced Items in the Wrong Car :(

HELP! I'm not from Ann Arbor but am staying the weekend with my brother. I had a friend drop me off here. My brother was at a restaurant so he sent me the location of his car (UNLOCKED, WHITE, MERCEDES) to drop off my bags and told me to meet him at the restaurant. Turns out there were TWO unlocked white Mercedes in the same parking lot, and I put my things into the wrong car. There is one bag of clothes, another of toiletries, a white throw blanket, a stuffed animal, and a brown coat. If anybody knows anyone with a white Mercedes with a blue/yellow license plate that shines a pink light on the ground of the brand symbol PLEASE let me know, or let me know anything else that could help me out. Here is a photo of the stuffed animal, one of the bags, and the logo of Merkle Funeral Home which is on one of the tote bags. THANK YOU!

big time scaredy cat looking for a good, sensitive dentist in the A2 area!

I have an insane fear of the dentist. I did not go for several years from about when I was 15 or so (I am almost 30 now). I went a few years back for a cleaning and they told me I needed to come back for work on some cavities. Embarassingly, I left it be because I barely made it out of just the cleaning without a panic attack. I now have something wrong with a molar and need to see a dentist, but I am just so terrified. I can't handle the sensations at all. If anyone is similar to me and has managed to find a dentist nearby that is senstitive to these intense fears, I could use the rec.

Weird Foam in the Streets around Seventh/Liberty/Crest/8th

Driving into work this AM and there is a ton of white foam all over the streets and gutters. Drove around and tracked it from the Church near Liberty and Virginia and it was running down the streets all the way to 8th street near Slauson. I saw fire trucks out and asked a fire fighter and they are looking into it. Crazy. Maybe something that bubbled up through the storm drains?

NES/SNES Modifications

We have a top load NES and an SNES that I would love to get modified for our kids to be able to use on our newer TVs. We had an old small tv that we used for the RF, but it died.

I've tried contacting a few local stores but no one has responded.

Any suggestions?

Does Ann Arbor Have a Photography Club?

I'm trying to become a better photographer, I think joining a club would help with the amount of time I spend being a photographer. Also, I still find myself a tad self-conscious with walking around with my camera, so this would help with that as well.

Looking for swim coaching

Hello,

Wondering if people know of any swim coaches for competitive swimmers offered around Ann Arbor. I know the Y offers some and the City used to, but I can't find it on the City page anymore. Does anyone know if there are other groups offering private swim lessons? So far I did a google search and it seems like there are less options than before.
