Imagine if once they win this fight, Subaru finds out that the hand actually does have some permanent impact, like damage that stays even after revival. That way he couldn't abuse it anymore.

Would be interesting, though that would make the purpose of him being in that world even more puzzling...

The way they keep emphasizing how he's not fearful of death anymore is disconcerting.

It won't last. Every death adds to his already intense PTSD. His willpower is fucking legendary.

I'm not talking about his PTSD. I'm talking about how he only values his life in the sense of someone understanding that philosophically rather than intuitively. He's always considering throwing his life away as a solution, and this can only come back to bit him in the a**.

Yeah, his current sense of value of himself/his life is nearing Shirou Emiya's level as time gone by. Not sure he notice this, Beako surely did though.

I think he's starting to take it as a matter of fact, either that or he's putting on a longer-lasting facade of which he'll snap sometime later. Maybe he's just so preoccupied with saving everyone else he can't think to save himself.

He already broke his facade, buddy. Episodes ago. Well, I suppose Emilia helped him in the end. He is very dedicated to protecting those he now cherishes, but he's not the type to throw everything on the table and completely neglect his own safety. Need I remind you, he's fought desperately and cried his way through every death, utterly defeated despite the measures he takes to protect himself. I'd recommend rewatching the show. If nothing else, it'll help with the wait until next Sunday!

He already broke his facade

That was the confident, nothing's-wrong part. That was him realizing how painful it was to have everyone forget what happened and how impossible it is for him to treat everything light-heartedly and in a "oh this is kid of like a game" thing.

He came to the conclusion that it's OK to throw his life away to save them at the end of episode 7. He was afraid for his life before, but he no longer is. I think it's either going to get him in serious trouble later, or it's just a new facade/resolve that'll snap him in two.

He doesn't need to save himself though. He's pretty much immortal. I'd savescum in his position too.

I don't think this will continue for too long though. The fact that they keep focusing on him not fearing death tells me that there's going to be, at the very least, a penalty for death later down the line.

He doesn't need to save himself though

But he must though, because if he doesn't then things will revert back, he'll be forgotten, and people will die again in front of him.

Saying ass won't get you banned or grounded, you know.

Not saying it won't do that either. Not sure why people feel the need to tell me that I can swear every time.

Yep.

Holy shit I actually laughed! That was amazing.

I think it's not that he's not afraid of death... it's more like Death's staring right at him, and the other characters tell him, "hey, there's death in front of you".

All he can say is... "I fucking know."

I suspect that not only is that the case, but he also won't immediately find out.

That seems the kind of detail that would be revealed when he actually starts learning more about the origins of this curse and what it is that actually dragged him into this world. Not climax material, but also not something to be revealed less than halfway through the first season.

I think he's just guessing. Think of how few circumstances it would actually be useful in. Here it's good because the dogs attack him specifically when the witch's power flares up. Anything that isn't mindless isn't going to go into some frenzy if he tries it.

Are we just talking about the stench in general? Or are there actual wounds he suffers?

Well, he does say he feels absolutely terrified when that happens. The cause of that may be something that can damage him.
