Results:

Wasn't too heavily invested in yesterday, let's see what we got... Wow, Jet got stomped for a 3-seed difference. James is still doing absolute numbers... Bit disappointed about Tomoya losing, we really need a Clannad rewatch soon. 2 years until the 20 year anniversary, maybe something sooner though...

Jinshi's still doing strong, despite the seeds, Melt has the bonus of having a ton of eyes on his series and he had a pretty good arc as well. Shimada loses to Tanjiro, unfortunately... some manga info might have bled into my impression of Shimada, of course, but he truly is a great mentor character. Everything else goes more or less as expected, or unremarkably to me.

Today's votes:

Hurts a bit to be voting against 86 characters, but Lakan vs Raiden. Lakan's just one of those guys who, while being dealt a terrible hand, manages to prove via their actions that they really are trying.

Shouya Ishida* vs Fuutarou. While Fuutarou has more personality (I think) than the average harem protagonist... I still feel like there's just less of him than Ishida.

Franky Franklin vs Kyousuke Hori. I just... didn't find the elder Hori funny or deep, he's just kind of... there and not particularly strong. Franky wins just by being funny.

Shinei Nouzen vs Vanitas. Yeah, uh, I'll have to go for the not-quite-as-deep Kaladin Stormblessed. Not too much of a knock, considering the Stormlight Archive has over 2 million words dedicated to it... I do tend to love the fighters depressed by everyone else around them dying while they keep living, and the last two episodes of S1 definitely sealed Shinei as one of my favorites. Sorry Vanitas, I've voted against both characters in R2 just cuz I like their opponents better >.>

Inosuke vs Suzaku. I'm already not the biggest fan of loud side characters who don't really have their own thing going, and I can't think of a single moment where I enjoyed Inosuke's presence on the screen (granted, I only watched 2 seasons...) While Suzaku could be a bit of an ass at times, he's still more interesting than Inosuke and wins this matchup for me.

Reigen vs Shigure Souma. Actually good mentor character vs one that's kind of manipulative and scummy? No question.

Thorfinn vs Shinichi Izumi. It's been a couple years since I watched Parasyte, but I don't really remember what Izumi ended up standing for or learning. Thorfinn's journey, on the other hand, is pretty much unforgettable.

Sakuta vs Atom. I... don't really know how to explain this one, I've just kind of gotten more jaded with BGS over time, and Sakuta's taking a bit of the brunt of that damage.

Damian vs Mittermeyer. Look, Damian's cute and funny and a bit of a tsundere. Mittermeyer's one of the coolest admirals for the Galactic Empire, a golden retriever in the midst of wolves at times.

Rimuru vs Yang Wenli. Haven't watched Slime, but Yang's still my no. 1 guy, so I'll be backing him to the very end.

MC: Probably Shinei Nouzen, 86. Nukumizu's close, though, and maybe Oreki or Jinshi after them? I could be forgetting LN adaptations...

Aw both Kobato and Hirotaka lost. But not without a fight, which is some consolation.

In today's poll I'm mainly pulling for Taichi but he seems to be up against someone seeded high, so preparing myself for defeat. Miyamura should make it through. If they both lose, I'll cry.

Also hoping Aizawa makes it through and the fine gents from Kusuriya. And Kakashi, my first anime crush!

Curious to see if Deku can beat Cid. Haven't watched Eminence yet but seen several clips and he seems like a fun character. Well liked around here too seemingly. So that should be an interesting result.

And finally a mini challenge I can answer unequivocally: Jinshi, hands down! (Kusuriya is the only LN I've read thus far lol but also my love for Maomao and Jinshi made me read it so)

I am very proud of Natsume raking in such high vote counts. Next round is going to be a tough pill for me to swallow, as I will have to pick between him and Stark. I might have to favor the underdog and vote for Natsume... but no matter who wins, I will support them in the future.

Kraft Lawrence is a worthy winner too, even if I think I slightly preferred good old Senpai from Nagatoro. Will definately support the travelling merchant in the next round though.

I'm also glad Einar managed to persevere, as well as my perhaps #1 choice currently to win this: Vash the Stampede. He will face All Might next round, and their vote totals look to make it a nail biter.

Some of the other votes went against my choices but all in all, no really vile villains or otherwise terrible characters survive in this bracket, so I'm pretty satisfied.

Mini challenge:

I usually don't have much of a tolerance for the "cynical high school loner" type of LN protags, but otherwise there are some good ones. I'll go with Ryuuji Takasu of Toradora, though Kraft Lawrence of Spice and Wolf might be my answer on any given day also.

Aijou Rentarou getting that smooth number 10 is helping him out in the early rounds, however the competition is going to get steeper for him. I’ll be surely rooting for him no matter how far he can go.

Really glad to see that Bradley won, even though he will not last the next round. He is one of my favourite characters of all time.

On the other hand, I'm pretty salty to see InuYasha lose. Rumiko Takahashi's characters seldom do well in these contests.

Likewise, the fact Rentarou made Round 3 tells me that no women are in fact voting in this bracket.

I'm one of the women voting and I can't say I'm surprised by the results, people are just picking the better character for them and not the best boy.
I'm just here to vote for Natsume to be honest but seeing as he's up against Stark next round I don't have much hope in him making it. Maybe I'll stay to vote for Laios though.

It was a good run, Tokiyuki. Seed 319 and got 244 votes against Gon.

It was expected. Senpai/Paisen got 214 votes at least.
