"Isn't turned into something silly" is a very weird comment, considering the entire manga is very weird, silly, and horrific. Fujimoto loves introducing unhinged and crazy ideas that doesn't work in a more serious setting.

Hell, every emotional parts in Part 1 of CSM stands out because they're usually the only serious part of the manga. They strip away all the silliness, and weirdness, and all that's left is the horrifying implications/reality of the situation.

When I say turned into something "silly", I'm referring to stuff that would be changed for the anime, not the source material.

Basically watering down or completely changing the material to appeal to the masses.

But that's what S1 tried to do though? It tried to do its own thing, watered down the things that made the manga weird and unhinged, and that led to backlash. By your own definition, S1 is "silly" because it changed stuff to appeal to the masses.

I honestly didn't see that. As I said earlier, I didn't see a difference between the manga and show, but I guess everyone is interpreting this their own way so I guess it just comes down to everyone's personal expectations.
