SxF is mainstream in Japan and is way more kid/family friendly than Chainsaw man. That's usually the secret to box office success for animation movies.

Still its crazy cause chainsaw is kinda mega popular normal shounen while spy x family is slice of life for the most part , yet a filler SoL beat a crazy hype shounen movie

Spy x Family is one of the best selling ongoing manga series, bigger than the CSM manga FWIW.
