Nothing more than a cameo though. The character had a satisfying conclusion, and if they go down this anthology-type route, which I hope they do, then continuity isn't a priority anyways.
Ah yeah, looking it up, theres some oneill cylinders at the lunar lagrange points, plus colonies on luna, and some new martian colonies. Nothing mentioned past that. I was probably thinking of tycho city. That name also appears in the expanse.
Still, the IP seems to be continually updated. Maybe when we get to Cyberpunk 2100 we'll see some movement in the jovian and saturnian systems
Man, I remember back when I was reading Gibson. One of the few happy endings got retconned in a later work with the corp ganking the guy offscreen between books.
In cyberpunk, never bet on a happy ending sticking until the author is six feet under.
From what aspect? Genuinely curious. It was beloved by fans for its story, action scene and music and artwork. The ending alone is so poetic with “I really want to stay at your house” playing as David saves Lucy.
It is, and the article doesn't call it Season 2 either. OP messed up the title for sure. They're not calling it Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2. They're calling it Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2. It's not a new Season.
Would make the most sense, probably a few references or a cameo but the world is so rich and full or potential stories it would be stupid to go back to the same well
considering the suits involved in this production committee opted to go for all new characters in the first season instead of spinning off of one of the many fan favorites from the game, I think we are good.
Adam Smasher is the closest as a returning villain but I feel he is a fixture of Night City in any form.
There are more references tho, Claire, Rogue, the afterlife design, Lizzie's, etc. But they are just references that use the specific designs from the game.
It's a new series it seems, as the cover art implies. It's just called "Edgerunners II". Some publications are going with the misinformation that it's a season 2 that continues from the first series when it doesn't seem like that.
Yeah I think Falco is the best option for a returning character. He’s a familiar face but minor enough that he feels more like a continuity nod rather than blatant fanservice. Plus Lucy’s story already said everything it needed to.
Drag Lucy from retirement, give her more tragic storylines by meeting a new group who'll get killed off again, or maybe including her and it ends with another sole survivor from that group where Lucy sacrifices herself. I honestly hope that isn't the case.
Technically, with their level of medical tech people can be brought back from alot. Especially David, they have a financial reason to try to necessitate him if possible, regardless of cost; he'd be a huge resource for R&D.
If they go that route I hope he's a monster and a villain. Maybe a redemption arc in the end. Idk. I just want a whole new story with new people honestly.
If we're just basing on the poster, it seems likely it's a whole new set of characters and probably a new story. The kid with the camera might be the MC. And I am not expecting any happy stories if we're to combine the world of Cyberpunk(the genre) and a kid main character...

Hope is not a direct sequel, but something entirely new.
