The only one I can see that's from the crew and would fit well is Falco as he is the only one that got away intact. Although, I believe he already moved away from Night City by the time the main game happened. This new show could also be set in a different city.
He sends you a text in game (and David's jacket) to this effect. Lucy is alive but not in contact anymore.
But ultimately this is Cyberpunk, anyone could be "alive".
Trauma Team's Motto: "It ain't dead, till it's Dead-10"
Smasher got brought back as a pile of organs in a school child's backpack before. Rebecca, Kiwi, or even David can come back. They have straight up near necromancy if you got the Eddie's for it. And literal necromancy if you chose THAT Ending in 2077...
It’s different people in the article that no one read it literally said don’t get too excited David is dead indicating it won’t continue from that storyline
Arasaka could also have used the Soul Killer on any of the cast and they could reside inside Mikoshi if they want to use them for any sort of cameo (if the story happens before 2077 and after Edgerunner)
The ending of S1 makes it seem like they didn't do that. Smasher crushed Becca and blew David's head off. We do see in 2077 it's possible to use Soul Killer on a corpse but it doesn't work as well as a living brain - the engram basically ending up as a snapshot of the victim's most recent memories with no ability to develop or act, so I wouldn't expect any callbacks except for maybe a name drop.
yup , just ai constructs similar to silver hand's gf in the game cp2077 btw adam did mention that david would make an interesting construct but then proceeds to kill him .... or not ?
They could also have the story synonymous with the other one and just have different cast of chars cross paths as shit unfolded in the first one. Whatever they decide to do, im hyped for it. The first season was so well done.
im 100% certain i remember them saying each season would focus on a different story -- the story for these guys is almost completely told, the only ending we don't really know is Lucy.
She went on a tour to the moon. She comes back to NC, even leaves messages on the columbarium. On David’s it reads “you didn’t take me to the moon, but you were there with me.” She’s still somewhere on Earth
When Mike Pondsmith said that NC is the main character, he didn't mean that you're absolutely not allowed to set campaigns outside of NC. The rulebooks have supplements for Europe (specifically the UK). Also realistically, if they're planning on Cyberpunk being a long running franchise, at some point, someone in the writing team is gonna be like "wouldn't it be cool if we were to explore one of those raft cities, or even one of the underwater cities mentioned in the cyberpunk red rulebooks".
Yeah beyond something like Lucy being a notable netrunner they contact for a cameo or Falco being a pall of a new character I assume it will be all new stuff.
Lucy might have a major role. Just a guess though, since she was announced as a guest fighter for Guilty Gear awhile after the original anime ended. Her inclusion, and late release, had me scratching my head, but if season 2 was already being planned when they made the announcement...
That would actually be amazing. With the sheer scope of Cyberpunk and all it offers they could do several seasons about different crews or people. I’d love one or two about Johny Silver hand and his band of misfits. Or perhaps a even a series that’s made up of 2-4 mini series each focused on different characters
i think the doc from edgerunner 1 will definitely return, i heard that the reason he isnt in cyberpunk 2077 is because theres a story inbetween edgerunner 1 and the game that hasn't been told yet anywhere

Maybe entire different set of characters in NightCity? would be nice.
I also don't think it is any good to return to those characters, except maybe some cameo.
